OVERVIEW

By popular demand, Blueridge has now combined leading brand pickup technology from Fishman, a deep cutaway and the legendary tone powerhouse of the Historic series BR-180. Each guitar is crafted to be light and resonant, but now offers even greater flexibility with electronics for use in any live or recording situation. And just like every other Blueridge guitar in the line, meticulous attention to detail and quality craftsmanship goes hand-in-hand with these modern refinements.

Blueridge is an offshoot of the South San Francisco-based Saga Musical Instrument Company. Blueridge specializes in "traditional" guitars that offer today's player vintage styling with modern performance at a level of quality and price that compares favorably to historic guitars. Each instrument is the result of detailed research and is carefully crafted at the Blueridge factory. Consistency is evident throughout, from the fretwork to the intricate inlays that adorn each Blueridge headstock.

A masterpiece of solid tonewoods, intricate inlays and Fishman Presys Blend electronics.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-180CE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Fretted instrument player, classically trained, instrument repair and set-up.
This BR CE-180 was received in a completely unplayable condition. 15th fret is .012 higher than the rest and even open string buzz on it. None of the first three strings will produce a clean tone, at all, above the 3rd fret. If I picked this up at a store-front I would return it to the rack in about 30 seconds.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-180CE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is everything one would want in an A/E. I have 130 guitars, including 8 Martins, one being a $5000.00 OM-18 1933 Authentic (that was SENT to me with a warped fingerboard!), and the BR-180 compares to and exceeds the quality of build, sound, and playability.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-180CE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have had my Blueridge for about three years. I play bluegrass gospel in church and it sounds great. The glue that holds the pick guard on let go around the edges. I would press it down and it would be alright for a while. Then I I noticed the back started spitting apart along the center brace on the back. It has been returned to the factory. I am waiting for a response from them. Let's see if they honor their lifetime warranty. I will do a follow. I didn't buy my guitar from here and I paid a little more than what they are asking.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-180CE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

NOTE - If you purchase one of these new, you'll get a headstock that features the new Blueridge logo in script letters (which, in my opinion, looks even better).

Short version: If you're not buying this because it doesn't say Martin on the headstock, then you seriously need to re-think the way you buy guitars.

Long version: Blueridge has, without a doubt, stepped up its game and entered the professional instrument market. I've played probably 100 guitars that cost at least twice as much, and this one blows a lot of them away. If you absolutely must have a made-in-USA Martin because of what's written on the headstock, then you're missing out the opportunity to own probably the greatest bang-for-buck value in the acoustic-electric market. No detail was spared on this guitar (except for maybe the setup, but, if you're spending this kind of money on a guitar, you should be able to do it yourself anyway). This guitar has a lot of bling and draws a ton of attention in a crowd. The inlay work is superb and was done by a quality craftsman. The spruce top is very nice, and the solid rosewood back and sides are simply gorgeous. The sound is comparable to any Martin dreadnought I've ever played, and I have played a ton. The bass is loud and booming, and the higher strings excite the spruce top even way into the upper register. All of the features you would expect from a high-end instrument are present. The Fishman blend system sounds excellent and provides a wide range of sounds and EQ, so you can be sure you'll get the sound you're after. The real bottom line? Buy one of these before Blueridge finds out they could sell these for twice the price. There are not enough good things I can say about this amazing work of art. I only wish I had bought one earlier, so I could have been playing it for years. As always, MusiciansFriend was fast, and the customer service staff was friendly.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-180CE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Seeing the blueridge online made me seek it out in the music store. I was struck by the old school looks. Playing it was the most pleasing. If I were discribe how I would want an acoustic guitar to sound this would be it. Full well rounded tone. Add fishman electronics to replecate that sound and your golden. Musicians friend price and credit made it happen for me.
