OVERVIEW

A beautiful 12-string with single cutaway and slim neck for more playability, and gorgeous sunburst for more visual appeal.

For the player seeking clear, concise, note-for-note 12-string articulation, the Breedlove Studio 12-String is a serious acoustic-electric optimized for songwriting, recording, and live performance, making it a must-have for every guitar player's collection. A comfortable neck profile and the concert body make this 12-string easy to play for long sessions and Breedlove's pinless bridge makes string changes quick, easy, and painless. It also features the Breedlove Bridge Truss, which relieves stress on the guitars top from the extra tension of 12-strings, and yields extra sustain and balance.

Body Shape
The Breedlove Concert is the original Breedlove shape. It first appeared in 1992, and has been the best-selling Breedlove body shape ever since. Designed specifically for the fingerstylist to be well-balanced, compact, and comfortable to play, it generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. The unique construction also allows the Concert to sing even at a full strum. If you'e a fingerstylist, or are seeking an instrument to use as vocal accompaniment, this is the shape for you. The Concert is engineered to provide exceptional sustain with a pronounced bass response, both of which can be achieved with a light touch. The graduated top works in harmony with the Breedlove Bridge Truss to provide an even response throughout the lows, mids, and highs, with sustain, and clear, concise, note-for-note projection.

Breedlove Bridge Truss
The Breedlove Bridge Truss (BBT) reduces tension on the soundboard of the guitar, so the top wood is able to vibrate more freely, producing remarkable sustain, balance, and clarity. The BBT also allows for a thinner graduated top, thereby allowing Breedlove craftsmen to bring out the optimal sound from the top wood without sacrificing structural stability. Relieving much of the string tension from the bridge prevents "bridge belly," ensuring top stability for decades. Guitar strings can exert up to 230 pounds of pull from the nut to the bridge. Traditional methods for preventing top bowing at the bridge usually involve heavy internal bracing and thicker tops. The BBT compensates for this pressure in an innovative way: The BBT is mounted to the bridge from the inside and is connected into the tail block of the guitar, pulling downward on the underside of the bridge to distribute some of the tension, relieving pressure on the top. The resulting tonal effect on BBT-equipped guitars is more resonance and livelier sound with enhanced overtones.

Top Woods
Sitka spruce, picea sitchensis, originates in the northwest United States. Sitka spruce has been the primary top wood for American-made instruments for decades. It is strong and light with extended harmonic content, and it nearly equals the power of Adirondack. It offers a strong, focused tone with a solid fundamental -- perfect for flatpicking styles. When compared with European spruce, Sitka delivers warmer, more fundamental sound, largely free of overtones. Sitka takes a slightly longer period of playing time to open up. It has a straight uniform grain and coloration ranges from white to pink to light brown.

Breedlove Pinless Bridge
The Breedlove Pinless Bridge helps maintain the integrity of the top by eliminating the need for six drilled string holes. The fewer holes in your soundboard, the more evenly the sound wave can move across the interior, without any loss of energy. The Breedlove Pinless Bridge also provides a gentler string-break angle from the bridge to the top of the saddle, reducing saddle strain. This innovative bridge also makes string changes a breeze, especially on 12 strings. Plus, you™ll never again have to worry about lost, worn-out, or broken bridge pins.

Breedlove Neck
Breedlove guitars feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish also contributes to ideal playability. The labor-intensive finish process includes precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.

Nice guitar. This Breedlove replaces a Yamaha 12-string that unfortunately did not survive an accident. What I like better about this one is that the strings are spaced further apart at the bridge, allowing me to play finger picking style, which I couldn't do with the Yamaha. I haven't tried recording with it yet, but when playing thru an acoustic amp, it sounds good enough, but it seems a little heavy on the mid frequencies. That seems to add up to some annoying "noise", especially considering all the harmonics inherent with a 12-string. The Yamaha had an adjustable band mid freq. control which made it possible to really fine tune the sound. Wish this one had the same. Maybe I can make up for that using the controls on my amp. This guitar has a beautiful finish and looks and sounds great on its own. All things considered, I love this 12-string. BTW, I got this thru the Stupid Deal of the Day at almost half price. :)

Overall I like the guitar and kept it. Got it new on sale at half list. At FP I would've sent it back. Made in China. The body is laminated maple. Flame on the outside, regular old non flame maple inside. Look at pictures, notice every guitar has the same flame?! Still a maple body 12 String, very pretty, very good tone, bright tone. The only accurate listed spec for the neck is the finger board is rosewood. The neck could be mahogany or maple. Mine has a satin finish, is almost 1 7/8 inch edge to edge at the nut and 1 3/4 from e string to e string, very W I D E feeling neck yet at the same time for a 12 string gives the same finger room feeling as a 6 string 1 3/4 " nut Martin. The neck feels fat, thick and beefy too. Forget barre chords, use a capo. Even with extra light strings you may want to tune down then capo to standard tuning. Preamp has a tuner, 3 band eq, piezo under saddle, sounds like a piezo under saddle... nice and flat, cool lights on tuner.

Comments about Breedlove 2015 Studio 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar as a SDOTD. Breedlove construction is good and I like the concept of the Bridge truss, especially for a 12 string. This guitar plays very well and sounds pretty good acoustically, not phenomenal, due to the laminated sides and back. I expect the solid top to open up a bit. The included gig bag is excellent. This guitar will be used to play live through a PA and I believe that it will serve this purpose well.

Comments about Breedlove 2015 Studio 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar was advertised as Made in Korea. It is not. They are made in China. Chinese made guitars have excellent finishes and I have had some excellent humbucker pickups out of China. The sound of this twelve string is good, and it works well with my amplifier. The guitar shipped with a battery for the Fishman electronics, but the battery was DOA. I have to say that I prefer the LR Baggs setup in my other Breedlove to the Fishman, but it does the job. The tiny little screen is just a little small for these old eyes.

Comments about Breedlove 2015 Studio 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this to replace my 12 string E Series Takemine that was stolen a few years back and decided to purchase this after trying it at a store. It is very comfortable to play, especially for a 12 string. The only difference is mine is American made vs Korean made. I would certainly recommend the one I got even though I had to wait almost 2 months to receive as I enjoy the tone of this guitar vs. the Takemine that was made in Korea.

Comments about Breedlove 2015 Studio 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm using this guitar in church and, with my brother-in-law, in small venues doing older music for younger audiences. He uses an older Martin 6-string and the tone from this Breedlove harmonizes very well. This guitar is very easy to chord and has a very comfortable neck. I have several other 12-string guitars and this one has become my instrument of choice.

Comments about Breedlove 2015 Studio 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I really wanted to like this guitar, especially at the price. But the action was unplayable, and several frets buzzed. I have set it up so it is now is playable, but i have to tune to down a half step to play semi-comfortably. I thought of sending back, but it is partly my fault, because it is pretty common knowledge that you should not buy a 12 string without playing it first. And in the lower end Chinese ones, that is probably especially true. I think If I do buy another 12 string it will be a Guild or a Taylor. I still like MF, it is not there fault that some instruments are sub par.

I bought this guitar to replace a Kay 636H/12. I thought the Kay was great until I played this, the top nut is slightly smaller and easier to fret. It sounds and looks awesome with the maple back and sides. I wanted something with a built-in tuner so I didn't have to keep moving my Snark. The built-in tuner is very stable and accurate. Great deal on a great instrument from Musicians Friend. I can't put this thing down.

I really like this guitar. This is my second Breedlove. I have a very nice 6 string electric acoustic , and I was looking for a good looking, great sounding 12 string Breedlove to complete my acoustic guitars. This one did it for me! I play it at my band's gigs, as well. Sounds fantastic plugged in or unplugged. I will use it in the recording studio too. One slight drawback about this particular one I purchase is the tuner. It's not working quite good enough, but I use a small chromatic tuner instead and it stays in tune just fine. Excellent Breedlove guitar!

I received this guitar yesterday as a present from my wife. I have had my eye on it for a very long time. I took it out of the box and sat down and played and it sounded and played every bit as good as I envisioned. the action was perfect, the strings were great, it looks like a beautiful lady and she sings too!

I love playing this Breedlove twelve string. Although I am a 3-chord song man, this guitar inspires me to go further. The gig bag is substantial and offers good protection.

I have been playing about 18 months and still have a long way to go but decided to give a 12-string a shot. I couldn't be happier. The sound is awesome vs a 6 but most importantly the action is amazingly low (YMMV). I have an acoustic that is as low as it can go without buzzing and this is much lower.
