OVERVIEW

A beautiful dreadnought with single cutaway and slim neck for more playability, and gorgeous sunburst for more visual appeal.

The Studio Dreadnought is designed specifically for players who want to cast a deeper sonic imprint in their recordings. This guitar is ideal for creating a signature sound since maple takes its personality from the player. It shines when both micd with an external condenser mic, and when plugged in using the internal Fishman INK3 USB.

Body Shape
The Breedlove Concert is the original Breedlove shape. It first appeared in 1992, and has been the best-selling Breedlove body shape ever since. Designed specifically for the fingerstylist to be well-balanced, compact, and comfortable to play, it generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. The unique construction also allows the Concert to sing even at a full strum. If youre a fingerstylist, or are seeking an instrument to use as vocal accompaniment, this is the shape for you. The Concert is engineered to provide exceptional sustain with a pronounced bass response, both of which can be achieved with a light touch. The graduated top works in harmony with the Breedlove Bridge Truss to provide an even response throughout the lows, mids, and highs, with sustain, and clear, concise, note-for-note projection.

Breedlove Bridge Truss
The Breedlove Bridge Truss (BBT) reduces tension on the soundboard of the guitar, so the top wood is able to vibrate more freely, producing remarkable sustain, balance, and clarity. The BBT also allows for a thinner graduated top, thereby allowing Breedlove craftsmen to bring out the optimal sound from the top wood without sacrificing structural stability. Relieving much of the string tension from the bridge prevents "bridge belly," ensuring top stability for decades. Guitar strings can exert up to 230 pounds of pull from the nut to the bridge. Traditional methods for preventing top bowing at the bridge usually involve heavy internal bracing and thicker tops. The BBT compensates for this pressure in an innovative way: The BBT is mounted to the bridge from the inside and is connected into the tail block of the guitar, pulling downward on the underside of the bridge to distribute some of the tension, relieving pressure on the top. The resulting tonal effect on BBT-equipped guitars is more resonance and livelier sound with enhanced overtones.

Top Woods
Sitka spruce, picea sitchensis, originates in the northwest United States. Sitka spruce has been the primary top wood for American-made instruments for decades. It is strong and light with extended harmonic content, and it nearly equals the power of Adirondack. It offers a strong, focused tone with a solid fundamental -- perfect for flatpicking styles. When compared with European spruce, Sitka delivers warmer, more fundamental sound, largely free of overtones. Sitka takes a slightly longer period of playing time to open up. It has a straight uniform grain and coloration ranges from white to pink to light brown.

Breedlove Pinless Bridge
The Breedlove Pinless Bridge helps maintain the integrity of the top by eliminating the need for six drilled string holes. The fewer holes in your soundboard, the more evenly the sound wave can move across the interior, without any loss of energy. The Breedlove Pinless Bridge also provides a gentler string-break angle from the bridge to the top of the saddle, reducing saddle strain. This innovative bridge also makes string changes a breeze, especially on 12 strings. Plus, youll never again have to worry about lost, worn-out, or broken bridge pins.

Breedlove Neck
Breedlove guitars feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish also contributes to ideal playability. The labor-intensive finish process includes precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.

Comments about Breedlove 2015 Studio Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am getting back into playing guitar and decided to buy something new for fun. My other acoustics are a Martin D-15 in need of a neck reset, a Taylor Baby, a Recording King G9M and a Samick jazz guitar. I noted the Breedlove Studio Dreadnought Acoustic on another site on sale. MF had an even better sale price and there was an open box available fora c-note less than the MF sale price. Breedloves tended to have good reviews, so I took a chance on what was essentially an impulse buy.

At the normal selling price, there are probably better guitars that are all-wood that you can find, new or used, but at the the open-box price that was less than half the regular selling price, I feel I got an incredibly good deal. Used ones on other sites were selling for more than what I paid for this. It was a level 2 open box and the micro scratches on the back are barely noticeable. I am pleased with the sound. I adjusted the truss rod and sanded the saddle and have 3/32" at the 12th fret with enough saddle height for even more adjustment if need be. The gig bag that came with the guitar is high quality. The electrics are nice and it is convenient to have a built in tuner.

Comments about Breedlove 2015 Studio Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

First of all, let me say that the Breedlove brand means quality - from the solid construction of their products to their tone wood varieties, not to mention the convenience of the pinless bridge that makes changing strings a cinch. No comparison for the appointments they offer at a lower price point than their well-known competitors. Since purchasing my Pursuit Concert Ebony and familiarizing myself with Breedlove's other guitars, my sights were set on the Studio Dreadnought Sunburst. When I saw the phenomenal deal that Musician's Friend was offering, I took it as a sign and went for it. Equal to its stunning aesthetics, this guitar cranks out the volume acoustically, and it's not even made from all solid wood - yes, a solid sitka spruce top, but with figured maple back and sides. Great tone wood combo in my opinion - it's everything I hoped for in a dreadnought guitar! Since my purchase, I visited a local music store and played some high-end Taylors, and I can honestly say that my Breedlove Studio Dreadnought sounded as good if not better. If you want rich full sound, buy this guitar. The onboard electronics (Fishman INK 3) with tuner works very well. Though made in Korea (not necessarily a bad thing), all Breedlove guitars are set up and checked for quality in Bend, Oregon before distribution. I'll stop my review now, but I could go on and on about how pleased I am . . .
