Please do not take wrong, Breedlove guitar in general are fantastic (acoustic metal strings) but entering into the nylon string scenario they are behind. I think the wood selection is the key. Although I was happy with the look and packing, one of the best I experience, the sound is far far behind from a nylon guitar in the same or a bit lower price range, which make me change my mind and return it and exchange for a Cordoba. Having learned to play clasic guitar in a missing old solid cedar/solid mahogany the sound is just not as good.BUt the guitar was well made as to the original breedlove materials. However these are not the best choice for nylon guitars. A humble opion of this your more naive friend.
I love the sound of a nylon string guitar but don't like the high action and wide neck. The playability of this guitar is amazing. It has a lower action and a narrower neck that make it a great compromise from the strict classical. All of the sudden I was nailing barre chords up and down the neck. The tone unplugged is nylon mellow on the bottom and fairly bright on top, volume is a little low, sustain is about average for a guitar this size. Plug it in and it really comes alive. Lots of fun and I'm sure a more talented musician than I would have no problem gigging with it.The guitar is very attractive in a modern style. The workmanship is excellent and the satin finish is spotless. I liked the abalone around the sound hole and the subtle dots on the fretboard. Wood selection is top notch for the box. The mahogany(?) neck could of had better color matching where it was laminated and the wood was left a little rough in the slots between the tuners. All in all I am very satisfied with this guitar for the price. It was shipped with a very solid soft case with a Breedlove logo embroidered on it. I wish that it came with information on the care of the satin finish and info on string selection.
