i recently purchased a breedlove atlas ac25 to take with me to college and play in concert band. i was interested in finding a product that was capable of preforming well in most styles of music, but was not huge loss if heaven forbid something happened to it. compared with taylors and martins of a similar price range this instrument is second to none. the guitar is striking in appearence first before even playing it. the inlays are gorgeous and the wood work is supurb. the deep cutaway helps greatly for high reaches and jumps on the neck. i have very large hands and i feel extremely cramped in a standard acoustic cutaway. the forward thinking features of the guitar are what really set it apart from the compatition. most notably is the bridge system which does not have cumbersume string pegs. the strings slide right through just like a standard stop bar tail piece. finally the sound is wonderful. the standard chords come out with a ring that is not quite as deep or bassie as a martin but are strong enough to fullfill the needs of any body. the mid range that comes out when using a pick or fingerpicking is the breedlove signature and are beutiful. besides being a wonderful sounding unplugged acoustic the fishman system is wonderful. when plugged through directly into a pa the pickup system has all the paramaters needetd to achieve a very desirable sound. i usually run the guitar through a vox tonelab LE for a little modulation but this does not dampen or "synthesize" the sound any. i dont like a guitar that sounds like plastic. in conclusion the breedlove atlas AC25 is a wonderful instrument that can handle most any playing situation. if you desire an istrument that is going to be strikingly different in appearence and sound from most anything else on the market, a breedlove is going to put a smile on your face the first time you play one.

This sounds nice, but it's not like a real breedlove. I have a Breedlove Master Class C15.Breedloves are warm, but have amazing clarity, and have amazing projection. This one...just doesn't project like it should. It's a little too warm. I want to say it's warm without the re-known breedlove rich tone. the Master class has that AC30 richness. I bought this in hoping that I could leave my C15 in the studio. But This isn't cutting it. Personally, I think you're better off saving a bit more and buying a Taylor 414CE with the expression system. I honestly feel like it'll blow it out of hte water.

A Guitar to Curl Up With

By Concert Instigator

from Charleston, WV

I own and play several guitars. Recently I bought a Breedlove Atlas Plus and was astounded at the tone. At first I was not crazy about the way it played, but a little saddle lowering here and a little truss rod adjustment there by a friend who is a world-class acoustic guitarist (and whom I cannot name here) and the guitar played like it was made for me. I also went with D'Addario extra light strings with much better feel and almost no loss of volume. After it was set up my friend said that my Atlas Pro sounded better than his super-expensive custom guitar and he carefully handed it to me to try. Sure enough, he was right -- mine sounded better. With a little tweaking to fit your particular playing style you will end up with a guitar to cherish for years to come. By the way, I love the Fishman tuner and the Breedlove hardshell case is very, very nice.

Awesome guitar for leading worship

By The big E-OXiWs

from Aurora, IL

I know this is just another review, but I am a worship leader at my church so I thought it would be good for some of you to get an opinion from a different point of view. I have played guitar for 23 years and the AC25/SR Plus is an awesome guitar for leading worship. I have a Goodall and this is just as good as that. I wanted the "concert" size for a little different tone. The tone and construction are great. I love the inlays around the soundhole and edge of the guitar. It really adds character. Right out of the case it sounded wonderful. I did add one shim, (it comes with two), and that really helped the action, as it did buzz just a little. The Fishman IV sounds really good as well and I really like the eq it comes with. If you are like me, you have done lots of research. Trust me, for the money, you will not find a better instrument. You will not be dissappointed!!!!

An Honest look at the Atlas series

By MCS

from wisconsin

Sound: Usually the most important aspect of a guitar shopper. This guitar sounds very good, the highs are crisp and clear with excellent projection along the entire range. Sustain is as good as many guitars twice its price. The only gripe I have is the sounds is a bit tight right now, which I feel is expected with a brand new guitar. With time this might mellow out to be a very desirable sound. From a sound standpoint the guitar outperforms its price tag.Quality/Construction: The construction is very solid. The inlays and binding seem to be very well done. The finish is even and glossy and the neck plays like a dream. The only gripes I have is some occasional sloppy glue work in the inside. What's the deal with the 2 piece headstock? Looking at the wood patterns it appears as if the front and back are bookmatched. From experience I have only found this on higher end guitars, so that was a pleasant surpise. From a quality standpoint this guitar is worth its price tag.Features: You really have no options at all to choose from. It's understandable being this guitar is made overseas. However some electronic variations would be an excellent idea. What the guitar comes with is nothing to complain about. Excellent hardshell case, beautiful inlay work, and the Fishman classic 4 sounds great plugged in.Overall: I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a great guitar. I will also suggest TACOMA guitars which run a few hundred more but are well worth looking into it. Between Breedlove and Tacoma, you should never have to look anywhere else for an unbelievable experience in guitars. I would gladly pay $1500 for a guitar like this.

Awesome Axe!

Ask me a question

I am a professional solo acoustic performer and an avid guitar collector and technician. I am absolutely blown away by this guitar. At an intermediate price of under $1,000, there is no guitar that compares in this price range. The craftsmanship is impeccable, and the Fishman pre-amp and pickup is perfect for amplification of this guitar. Right out of the box, the set up and intonation was right on the money. It's a real beauty and has become my favorite guitar on gigs.

Dang...

I know that acoustic guitar tonality, especially when getting in the higher end guitars, is all about preference. With that said, this guitar is amazing, in my opinion. I went and played nearly every acoustic in there, from cheaper Tak's to the Eric Clapton Martin. For the tone that I am looking for, there is no better. It isn't as bright as the Taylor's, which I love, because I think that the Taylor's are too bright, but it isn't as warm as the Martin's. It is smack dab in the middle. And honestly, even though this is made in Korea, I had a very hard time believing it when I was playing it next to the Taylor 814 or the Martin Eric Clapton. Actually, the Clapton model is the only other guitar in the store that sounded like what I wanted, aside from the Breedlove AC25/SR Plus. Inside, the guitar is immaculate: no glue spots, no marks, just clean assembly. Outside, the finish was immaculate as well. Great frets, nice binding work, great neck playability and finish (the neck is hand rubbed satin, while the rest of the guitar is glossy. Nice inlays, nice rosette, just a nice guitar. The onboard tuner is really sharp, too. Like I said, I just couldn't believe that this guitar was made in Korea (set up in Bend, OR, though). So, go and play one and see if you like it, but I'm tellin' you, you WILL be impressed, guaranteed. I can't wait to go buy one.

Breedlove Atlas Series AC25/SR Plus

By calwiersma

from Marshfield, WI

In searching for a upgrade in a guitar, this was the only guitar I tried. It is beautifully crafted and is thinner than some other guitars which feels nice. It is very easy to play and sounds great. It presents a full bodied sound that rings nicely. Tone is beautiful and it has a nice balance between bass and treble sounds. The electronics are quality and sounds good in my church's sound system which isn't that great. There is a tuner on this guitar. Also, in the body, there is a tune or tone bar thing that helps with preventing warping of the guitar and helps the sound. Great guitar, very happy with it and probably won't get another guitar for a while.

Amazing guitar

By Josh-ifXPV

from Pennsylvania

I bought this Breedlove recently and was completely blown away by it. It has a great clarity when full chords are played, and gets a big sound out of a small body that feels great under my electric-guitarist hands. Plugged in it always stays true to the original acoustic sounds, with a very nice tone. I was considering buying a Taylor 310 until I played this guitar, which has a similar tone but cheaper and with a smaller body. Excellent acoustic/electric guitar!

Can't go wrong on this one

I can't believe a guitar this good can be had for this price. I own a Taylor 914C, 810 & 312CE and this Breedlove easily holds its own. The tone is bright, its plays beautifully, and looks stunning. If you're on a budget and want Taylor quality & looks, buy this guitar.

Try it you'll like it

I have been looking at this guitar for several months. I played at a local music store and fell in love with. I've been playing Ovations for over 25 years and wasn't sure if I'd be comfortable with a traditional acoustic "bowl" again. The Breedlove is an amazing guitar. Every appointment is PERFECT. It looks and plays like a guitar three times the price. Try one and you'll see!
