i recently purchased a breedlove atlas ac25 to take with me to college and play in concert band. i was interested in finding a product that was capable of preforming well in most styles of music, but was not huge loss if heaven forbid something happened to it. compared with taylors and martins of a similar price range this instrument is second to none. the guitar is striking in appearence first before even playing it. the inlays are gorgeous and the wood work is supurb. the deep cutaway helps greatly for high reaches and jumps on the neck. i have very large hands and i feel extremely cramped in a standard acoustic cutaway. the forward thinking features of the guitar are what really set it apart from the compatition. most notably is the bridge system which does not have cumbersume string pegs. the strings slide right through just like a standard stop bar tail piece. finally the sound is wonderful. the standard chords come out with a ring that is not quite as deep or bassie as a martin but are strong enough to fullfill the needs of any body. the mid range that comes out when using a pick or fingerpicking is the breedlove signature and are beutiful. besides being a wonderful sounding unplugged acoustic the fishman system is wonderful. when plugged through directly into a pa the pickup system has all the paramaters needetd to achieve a very desirable sound. i usually run the guitar through a vox tonelab LE for a little modulation but this does not dampen or "synthesize" the sound any. i dont like a guitar that sounds like plastic. in conclusion the breedlove atlas AC25 is a wonderful instrument that can handle most any playing situation. if you desire an istrument that is going to be strikingly different in appearence and sound from most anything else on the market, a breedlove is going to put a smile on your face the first time you play one.

This sounds nice, but it's not like a real breedlove. I have a Breedlove Master Class C15.Breedloves are warm, but have amazing clarity, and have amazing projection. This one...just doesn't project like it should. It's a little too warm. I want to say it's warm without the re-known breedlove rich tone. the Master class has that AC30 richness. I bought this in hoping that I could leave my C15 in the studio. But This isn't cutting it. Personally, I think you're better off saving a bit more and buying a Taylor 414CE with the expression system. I honestly feel like it'll blow it out of hte water.

Love it

By GuitarRikk-jsG4.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail is obvious the minute you SEE the quality case this guitar comes in. Then when you take the guitar out of it's spectacular case you are in awe. Don't know what to say, I was in the market for a Taylor, and played this guitar and a $2000 Taylor and I was torn. Only because I had my mind set on a Taylor...but when the price on this baby dropped it was a no-brainer. And it plays and sounds every bit as good as the Taylor...I actually prefer the tone of this guitar to the Taylor. Fretwork is immaculate. The only downsides (and to be honest this is nitpicking) are the gold tuners. I hate gold hardware because it pits so quickly...when it does, I'll probably replace them with nickel or silver ones. The other downside is that the Fishman pickup system that comes with it is their lower end model...and it's certainly more than adequate...just surprised that on this quality of guitar it wasn't upgraded. But obviously, you can do that yourself if you feel the need. But please, don't focus on the negatives...those are the ONLY things I can come up with to say bad about this guitar. In the last year I took a chance on this guitar and an ESP Eclipse II, and they were both tremendous gambles...two of the best axes in my arsenal. Pull the trigger at this price.

Spectacular value, with one caveat

By Moonliner

from Lake Tahoe

At the new sale price this is a ridiculous bargain. Of course all of us who bought it for a couple hundred more are a bit jealous. Anyway, the comments the other reviewers have posted are all right on, including the couple of disappointed ones. I think one out of every 30 or 40 of these has flaws. Every time I see one in a stre I play it. I have played 2 that had problems and there was no obvious reason, just a bad neck that slipped through the cracks. But if you get a good one, as most seem to be, it a dazzler. And with the return policy you can't miss.

God bless Breedlove!!!

By 5qHwGWPjW

from Seale, AL

I am a guitarist for my churches band and use it every week. I can not tell you how much I love this guitar. As another one of my fellow "Breedlovers" said before, the beauty and sound of this guitar are amazing. They tend to get swallowed up in the Taylor and Martin names, but this is the best guitar I've ever pleyed. THE BEST. I am planning on getting a custon revival(retro) made to my specifications. It is deffinately worth a look at Brredlove.com. Thanks for a great guitar Breedlove.

shoulda bought a taylor

By Kennyjamesdean

from Undisclosed

I searched for a new acoustic for about 2 months playing everything. Taylors, gibbies, martins ect.I narrowed it down to this breedlove and the taylor. I chose the breedlove, in my opinion it had better action, onboard tuner and had the nice abolone rossete and binding. The sound wasn't quite as full or bright but the features and playability won out. I had the guitar a week and it started fretting out all over the place, I humidified for a week and it would not come out of it. After playing with the truss rod, and diff strings nothing worked. I started noticing that the neck was wavy and confirmed that at the dealer I bought it from, also noticing that the fret hights werre uneven. I thought I would trade it in for another Breedlove, Wrong. Every Breedlove their played horrible, fret noise wavy necks uneven fret hieghts. I will not be trading in for a Breedlove. I will be trading it in for a Taylor, either a 214ce or fork over the extra money for the 314ce.

Great Guitar, Great Value & Price

By MaxM

from Bergan County, NJ

This guitar is absolutely outstanding. Breedloves are often ignored and are often hidden because of labels such as Taylor or Martin, but this Breedlove is an outstanding guitar. The look and beauty of the frets along with the guitar is outstanding, as well as its sound. It has a very colored sound, and it is a great cut-off guitar. Highly recommended, especially for its price.

Very Nice Guitar.

By Melkat

from Iowa

I've had my Atlas AC25/SR Plus for a couple of weeks now and I love it! I love the size, as a smaller (not small), person I appreciate the concert size, it's very comfortable to play and sounds GREAT. Body depth is deep like a dreadnought so you dont sacrifice sound to gain a little comfort. And let me tell you this guitar is beautiful! I've had my eye on the Taylor 914ce, but there was just no WAY I could justify the cost for that guitar, and when I came across the Breedlove Atlas AC25/SR Plus I thought I was looking at the Taylor, in particular the Abalone rosette with purfling ring and the Abalone top purfling. Although I prefer the Taylor's position markers, the Breedlove's are very nice as well. The one thing I will comment on that I do NOT care for has to do with the Fishman preamp, the clips that hold the preamp in the guitar are very sharp, in contrast to the smooth edges and great looks of the guitar itself this issue sticks out (to the touch) like a sore thumb. But overall a great sounding, beautiful guitar for a reasonable price.

Awesome Axe!

By ACOUSTIC JOHNNY

from Myrtle Beach, SC

Ask me a question

I am a professional solo acoustic performer and an avid guitar collector and technician. I am absolutely blown away by this guitar. At an intermediate price of under $1,000, there is no guitar that compares in this price range. The craftsmanship is impeccable, and the Fishman pre-amp and pickup is perfect for amplification of this guitar. Right out of the box, the set up and intonation was right on the money. It's a real beauty and has become my favorite guitar on gigs.

Consider a Breedlove, Taylor Fans

By logannorrell

from hutchinson, ks

I recently bought this guitar after ruling out any high-end Taylor because of my budget. I am not disappointed, and in fact, i am very happy. Taylor seems to be over-pricing their relatively generic guitars (no offense, I have been a hard-core taylor fan for quite a while). I agree with most of the reviews. It is wonderful.
