OVERVIEW

Breedlove's most popular body shape with a gorgeous mix of special Pacific Northwest tonewoods.

This one is for the musician seeking well-rounded balance with the unique look, midrange fullness, depth, clarity, and liveliness of locally sourced myrtle. A surprising Breedlove crafted from Northwest body woods, the Oregon Concert is wonderfully alive with tone. The hard rock maple neck, myrtlewood body, and Sitka spruce top combine to deliver accentuated depth and clarity across the tonal spectrum.

Body Shape
The Breedlove Concert is the original Breedlove shape. It first appeared in 1992, and has been the best-selling Breedlove body shape ever since. Designed specifically for the fingerstylist to be well balanced, compact, and comfortable to play, it generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. The unique construction also allows the Concert to sing even at a full strum. If you're a fingerstylist, or are seeking an instrument to use as vocal accompaniment, this is the shape for you. The Concert is engineered to provide exceptional sustain with a pronounced bass response, both of which can be achieved with a light touch. The graduated top works in harmony with the Breedlove Bridge Truss to provide an even response throughout the lows, mids, and highs, with sustain, and clear, concise, note-for-note projection.

Breedlove Neck
Breedlove guitar necks feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. Unlike traditional dovetail neck joints that require major surgery for a neck re-set, it is easy to adjust the play action and neck angle with the Breedlove bolt-on neck and single-action truss rod. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish contributes to ideal playability - the finish process alone takes three days, including precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.

Assymetrical Headstock
The asymmetrical headstock isn't just a pretty shape - it's specifically designed to keep the strings in a straight, even line from the nut to the tuning pegs. The result is even tension, stable tuning, and ease of alternate tuning.

Back and Side Woods
Myrtlewood, umbellularia californica, formerly oreodaphne californica, originates in the western United States in Northern California and Oregon. Myrtlewood offers a strong fundamental with a powerful voice. Similar to maple, it has a clear and bright voice with superb projection and sustain, and offers a full and balanced sound. A versatile non-traditional tonewood, it is a favorite for many styles of playing. Myrtle has very unique and widely varied figure - no two sets are alike. Coloration ranges from blonde to taupe.

Top Wood
Sitka spruce, picea sitchensis, originates in the northwest United States. Sitka spruce has been the primary top wood for American-made instruments for decades. It is strong and light with extended harmonic content, and it nearly equals the power of Adirondack. It offers a strong, focused tone with a solid fundamental -- perfect for flatpicking styles. When compared with European spruce, Sitka delivers warmer, more fundamental sound, largely free of overtones. Sitka takes a slightly longer period of playing time to open up. It has a straight uniform grain and coloration ranges from white to pink to light brown.

Comments about Breedlove Oregon Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I know it's funny to say "Amazing Value" when talking about a fairly expensive instrument, but when you consider that it's completely solid wood and American made, it's a bargain.

The myrtlewood back and sides surprised me, and I probably wouldn't have picked it up if someone hadn't handed it to me. The spruce and myrtlewood colors don't look amazing together, but they sound amazing. With this guitar they've managed to produce the beautifully balanced tone that Breedlove is known for while producing a bright, present sound. I've always preferred Taylor guitars for the way they project, but this Breedlove projects better than almost any Taylor I've played, and it's much more balanced string to string.

The workmanship is immaculate, with a beautiful gloss finish on the top and satin sides, back, and neck. It's understated in it's styling, yet there's a beautiful simplicity about it, and if you haven't played one of Breedlove's satin finished necks, you owe it to yourself to do so. I haven't decided if I'll miss the cutaway much or not, but I like the looks of the guitar without it. The only detail I don't like are the black tipped tuners. It's more of a looks issue than function. The tuners work well. I simply prefer chrome.

The electronics are completely stripped down, so if you want a tuner, you'll have to buy one. I'm assuming this is to protect the integrity of the tonewoods while still including electronics. The battery is internally mounted, so you have to loosen the strings to change it. I have yet to play it plugged in, but if it's anything like my other Breedlove, it'll be great.

The hardshell case that this comes with is also a nice feature. It's sturdy and holds the guitar securely. For those of us who insist on a hardshell case, it's nice not dropping an extra hundred or so on a case.

Comments about Breedlove Oregon Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I really like how the tone is balanced top-to-bottom. No over-done "boom" to the bass, and each note is distinct and articulate. Works equally well for powerful strumming and fast single-note jazzy passages. The latter are also facilitated by the slim neck and good action (remarkably similar to my ES-335, actually). I'll be restringing with something a bit lighter, and only expect the playability to get better.

The guitar is beautifully finished, real eye candy. I haven't tried the electronics yet (and probably won't for a while...that's not what I got this for), but the only downside I see so far to the system is the bottom strap button/output jack: the channel into which the strap's opening is supposed to slot is too narrow. You kind of have to work the leather into it or risk a drop. Not enough to ding my rating, but a bit annoying.

Very much worth checking out for anyone interested in an instrument in this category. For me, nothing else in this price range played as well or sounded as good.

      Beautiful Balanced Guitar

Comments about Breedlove Oregon Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is my first Breedlove and so far I am quite impressed. Setup was very good right out of the box. Didn't need to fiddle with the action or truss rod. Fit and finish were great, I don't seem to have the issues that another buyer had. Electronics are basic but they do the job. My only gripe was the double sided tape that holds the battery - it came loose and the battery was knocking around inside my guitar. I had to remove the strings and apply some new velcro tape to secure the battery. I had to knock off one star for this.

Comments about Breedlove Oregon Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Was searching for a new acoustic/electric...tried everything i could get my hands on. narrowed it down to the breedlove oregon, martin 15 series, and gibson j35. Each of them are fantastic instruments and have strong points. I chose the oregon because: fantastic feeling neck!!! wonderful, bright, snappy tone, and I love the way the myrtle wood looks and sounds. The gloss finish, and beautiful rosette really set it apart from the other two in terms of appearance. the frets were finished perfectly on mine (pet peeve). Mine had action that was a titch high but I find that every guitar I have ever owned benefits from a little tweaking so I'm not too bothered by it. In sum, wonderful sound, classy appearance, beautiful fit and finish, and Made in USA. You really can't go wrong with an Oregon.

Comments about Breedlove Oregon Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

tone and finish are good. design is attractive and quite a nice feeling and looking guitar. Breedlove customer service and final inspection fall way short.

For a guitar at this price point, sending a very smelly case (chemicals and something god awful) and having fretboard imperfections are just unacceptable. Breedlove customer service was given a chance to make it right, but they did not respond to an email or a phone call. They gave an initial email that suggested a bit of an arrogance and wanted to charge for shipping to and fro on a case swap. That's not a joke, I'm not allowed to mention prices but you all know how much a 30 lb package cost both ways.

Luckily Musician's Friend cust. service saved the day again and took ownership. they corrected and sent me the Taylor 312E and I couldn't be happier with the Taylor or Musician's Friend!!

Once again, the customer service rep and warranty manager from Breedlove were both quite arrogant and non responsive and actually the warranty manager never even spoke to the fretboard issue. Not one word back. I would be mortified if you notified me of my company's mistake. I could not have been nicer on in my voicemails or emails. I didn't even demand anything, I simply asked if something could be done or how to correct it. They completely shut down and that's going to be my last time dealing with them or their products.

quite disappointing because I had 2 people that were excited to see their higher end USA stuff and this has soured everyone.
