OVERVIEW

Mahogany top parlor guitar for a bright and fast response.

The parlor body style is growing in popularity and for very good reasons. This is Breedlove's Parlor with a spruce top. Spruce is noted for its crisp and clear presence, which on a smaller body guitar further enhances its brisk response. It is a favorite among fingerstyle guitarists.

Breedloves Passport Parlors are incredibly balanced with an abundance of sound, volume, and projection from a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Youll be amazed at the amount of sound provided by such a small body, or if youre plugged in, through the Fishman ISYS+ USB. Whether youre at home or in the studio, the Breedlove Passport Parlor is an intimate experience that connects you to your music in a visceral, inspiring way.

Comments about Breedlove Passport Spruce Top Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Love the guitar...bought as a mint return...it was perfect. The sound is quite impressive unplugged on this little baby, and the electronics are right up there with any pre-amped guitar I've ever played.Action a bit high, but with a light sanding on the underside of the saddle, the action is right where I like it now.I almost went for a Seagull Coastline, but it would be hard for me to believe that the Seagull could meet or surpass the sound and playability of this guitar.Breedlove quality is up there with the best names in guitar building.Gigbag included.

Comments about Breedlove Passport Spruce Top Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I played a Gibson 00 belonging to a friend of mine many years ago and fell in love with the punchy sound of it. I've been looking for a parlor guitar for several years that could match that experience and sound. I tried several Epiphone 00's, but the quality just wasn't there. I finally settled on a Morgan Monroe MV-EC1, which has a cutaway, and trades wider upper and lower bouts for a slightly thinner body compared to a true "parlor" shaped body. The MM has a drawback in that it's a bit flimsy, and I can easily pull it out of tune with my hamfisted playing style.

When I saw the Mahogany top Breedlove Passport Parlor guitar on SDOD for a very tasty price, I jumped on it. I opened the box and was immediately impressed by the free gig bag, the spare bridge saddle and shims provided to customize the action, and the beautiful gloss over mahogany top. I tuned it up and began strumming, plucking, picking and was immediately impressed by the even action and temperament. In short, it plays like a dream. The gloss body and satin neck felt a bit small, but I quickly got used to it. This was my first experience with Breedlove instruments, and I was really impressed.

Having said that, I did finally decide to send it back for two reasons. First of all, I'm not sure if it's the Breedlove counterbalanced bridge support, or just the combination of the mahogany top and the thick gloss finish, but it doesn't have the punchy sound or volume on its own that I was looking for. My MM plays considerably louder for the same effort, and that's important because I frequently play unamplified and I need a guitar that really speaks out (one of the reasons I was looking for a parlor style in the first place).

The other issue is that I have become spoiled by the cutaway on my MM - if you work above the 12th fret, it will be a challenge on a classic parlor style guitar.

Those issues would not have been enough to make me decide to give this one up if I didn't already have my MM.
