OVERVIEW

The resonance of ebony and the power of spruce.

Delivers a warm, musical tone both acoustically and plugged in, built on the bass resonance of ebony and the power of red spruce. The Pursuit Dreadnought Ebony is a true reflection of Breedlove’s distinctively crafted sound found in an exceptional appointment package. Includes built-in USB port for easy interfacing with recording software.

Body Shape
Breedlove set out to enhance the traditional dreadnought sound, and the results are evident. If you’re inspired by the familiarity of a dread, but are looking for more nuance and richness than usual, the Breedlove Dreadnought delivers. The shape is slightly more rounded than traditional dreadnoughts and produces beautifully full, punchy, and articulate tones. It also provides excellent projection and articulation, so it excels in any ensemble. The hand-graduated top provides the balance and clarity that make this one of the most innovative and expressive-sounding dreadnoughts on the market.

Top Wood
Adirondack (red) spruce, picea rubens, originates in eastern North America. It has been the choice of bluegrass pickers for decades, and adds power to any guitar design. It is relatively heavy, with a high velocity of sound, and has the highest stiffness of all top woods across and along the grain. Adirondack spruce has higher resonance and more complex overtones than Sitka, and provides strong volume and pronounced individual note clarity with vintage sound. Responsive whether played softly or loudly, Adirondack is well-suited for fingerstyle, flatpicking, or rhythm playing. The coloration can vary from creamy white to light yellow with pronounced red grain lines.

Breedlove Pinless Bridge
The Breedlove Pinless Bridge helps maintain the integrity of the top by eliminating the need for six drilled string holes. The fewer holes in your soundboard, the more evenly the sound wave can move across the interior, without any loss of energy. The Breedlove Pinless Bridge also provides a gentler string-break angle from the bridge to the top of the saddle, reducing saddle strain. This innovative bridge also makes string changes a breeze, especially on 12 strings. Plus, you’ll never again have to worry about lost, worn-out, or broken bridge pins.

Breedlove Neck
Breedlove guitars feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish also contributes to ideal playability. The labor-intensive finish process includes precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.

Set-Up and Quality Assurance in Bend, Oregon USA
Breedlove's comprehensive quality control process provides the player with an instrument that will play perfectly right out of the box. Prior to shipment, every Breedlove instrument undergoes a rigorous 25-to-30-point inspection in Bend, Oregon by Breedlove's expert U.S. quality control team. Breedlove's QC process starts with a visual inspection: checking aesthetic and structural elements of the body and components for flaws. Next, each guitar is tuned and undergoes a play test, where Breedlove's craftspeople check nut height, relief, action, and string height. Based on the results of the play test, QC then adjusts for maximum playability. Finally, each instrument is buffed and polished by hand with painstaking attention to detail. Once the instrument has passed inspection, a signed QC sticker is placed, and the instrument is carefully packed and shipped.

Lifetime Warranty
Breedlove players around the world can attest: With consistent, proper care, your Breedlove will give you a lifetime of service and inspiration. New Breedlove instruments, purchased through an authorized Breedlove dealer, are warranted to be free of defects in materials and workmanship throughout the lifetime of the original owner. In addition to materials and workmanship, Breedlove offers a two-year warranty on tuning machines and electronics packages.

Comments about Breedlove Pursuit Dreadnought Ebony Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Tuners; cheap. Seam is visible and sharp.
Finish: Soft and easily scuffed by cotton sweatshirt. Very fine bubbles center of back. Wood was apparently sun-faded before manufacture and shows badly.
Nut too low and uneven. G string has a thud to it with an audible twang at the bridge. B string buzzes/twangs near the nut.

How this one got by Quality Control is beyond me.

Comments about Breedlove Pursuit Dreadnought Ebony Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Great guitar for the money and it is beautiful to look at too! Rich sound, and very easy to play for someone like myself with smaller hands. I played and considered the Taylor 114ce, the Luna Henna Oasis and the Martin GPC5, and this by FAR outplayed and out sounded the others. I am very happy with this guitar.
