I have read several of the other reviews and agree with the review of the tuners. The tuners could be better. I also think it would be better if it had a five position selector switch since it doesn't have coil tapping. Other than that, the quality of the finish is great. It just needed a few adjustments to get the action right.
This guitar has so many things going for it. The body is an archtop and it contours perfectly. Everything, in my opinion, is great except the headstock. Before I had a Strat and I was accustomed to the kind of head stock. It's just takes a while to get used to it. Overall, it's a great guitar, you should check it out. Also, the neck is great, and allows you to play really fast.
I can't find anything about this axe that I don't like. It is beautiful to look at and a real pleasure to play. The action and intonation were absolutely perfect right out of the box. The tone is fanatstic, clean or dirty. Very well balanced and can be worn for extended periods without any strain on the shoulders or neck. I would rate it as good as anything Fender or Gibson have to offer and easier on the pocket-book. An incredible value for the money. I have been playing for more than 20 years and have owned many great guitars over the years and this is one of the best!
If you want the Les Paul sound and feel, without the pricetag, then this is the one. I almost want to get another one at this price. I've played for over 20 years and currently play a Gibson Les Paul Classic as my main guitar. Over the years I've owned/played a number of LP's and LP copies incuding the PRS single cuts and Tremonti models. I purchased this so I could have a suitable backup to my LP, and I couldn't be happier. This guitar is as close to a LP in feel and sound as you could get. The sound is similar but slightly thinner than a LP. The neck is more comfortable though, and the guitar overall has a less rigid feel to it . I find myself playing it more often than I thought I would. It's just that comfortable. I highly recommend it. For the price ...it's a steal! (but you must change the 9 gauge strings to 10's.....is there anybody who still plays 9's?)
This guitar is a great middle guitar. you can use it between your beginner guitar and your future signature guitar.
This is an unreal thread machine for the young at heart..If u know what i mean.
First off, I like the sound. I like it better than my American Strat. I think it's because of the humbuckers. Unfortunately, the quality control is not very good. My guitar arrived from MusiciansFriend with a crack or separation of the top from the binding on the lower bout near the pickup selector. The tuners are also junk and since it is a 4x2 configuration, you can't just buy a new set (they come inline or 3x3). So, this baby is going back to MF as soon as I get on the phone with them later today. Too bad. It seemed quite promising.
