Comments about Charvel Desolation DX-1 FR Soloist Electric Guitar:

Wow! This inexpensive Chinese-made guitar blows away some of my American-made and Ibby Prestige Japanese-made guitars (I have 27 guitars). The pickups are, of course, top-notch EMG's, so the sound is excellent--a bit bright, but that can be rolled off at the amp. The main plus is the playability--very low action and easy to play right out of the box. I can't get my Petrucci Majesty that low, and it costs 5.7 times as much! How did Charvell do it? The only thing that might bug some people is that the body joins the neck with a seam behind the 17th fret, but it's a smooth seam and doesn't bother me a bit. Great sound, great features, best playability and lowest action a guitar can have. Perfect shredder's guitar. If you need a killer metal axe on a low budget, this is your baby.

Well I grabbed one of these beauties for half off, what a steal!!! I was skeptical of the "MADE IN CHINA" issue, but my concern was unfounded, and why not give it a shot for that price! This thing is made well, plays well, and was set up well right out of the package! I couldn't believe it! The neck is un finished , smooth as silk, and thin just like a USA Jackson. It plays effortlessly!. Stays in tune well with the Floyd Rose, and the EMGS scream! A total shredder's delight! Looks killer too. Only thing I added was strap locks and this thing is ready for the stage! Do yourself a favor and grab one of these, even if its just to bang around on....you'll be surprised!

Comments about Charvel Desolation DX-1 FR Soloist Electric Guitar:

I got this as a Stupid Deal of the Day. The guitar plays and looks like a $3500 instrument. The parts alone are worth more than what I paid. I am beyond stoked over this guitar. My only thing that I could say that I'd change, is that it doesn't have a tone knob. But, it is a stellar instrument. Even at the regular price point, it is still a steal. I highly recommend it to any player at any level.

WOW I was a charvel jackson user for many years. many soloists and san dimas originals have passed through my collection. saw this on STOTD and gave it a rip. Did not expexct to feel a hot rodded version of those originals. arch top, recessed floyd, oil finished neck through.( I owned a model 6 that was customized that way) Brought me back, and forward at the same time...nice piece.

I've had this guitar for over a year (the Snow White model). I've got to say that I'm very pleased with the guitar. Cosmetically, the guitar is stunning. And the sound is superb.

The guitar feels just right, and with the Original Floyd Rose, I have confidence that it will stay in tune even with extreme dive-bombing.

Comments about Charvel Desolation DX-1 FR Soloist Electric Guitar:

This is my 2nd Desolation; the 1st one was delivered with the parts bag opened and the whammy bar and Floyd Rose allen wrenches pilfered. Customer service wouldn't just get the parts from another guitar box and stated FR was backlogged on parts orders. Strangely, they were able the ship a 2nd guitar with all the parts intact. Which means my original purchase goes back to the warehouse and may accidently get shipped out to someone else?! Anyway as stated before, the guitar play fantastic, stays in tune even with the asian series 1000 trem. I've never had EMGs and they are hot, so we'll see just how to calm them down a bit.

Comments about Charvel Desolation DX-1 FR Soloist Electric Guitar:

I have always wanted a 24 fret guitar with the pointed head. I looked at the Jackson it was more than I would be able to afford. I looked at ESP and they were within range, but when I saw this Charvel and experiencing my San Demas siad I want this. Of course there is no way I could haev gotten it because my wife had told me "no more guitar" (this made my 9th. Well it happended that my birthday came and my daughter had seen me dreaming of having it as I stared into the computer screen at it and on my birthday she gives this guitar to me. I was in tears, like a child that just received what he had been writing Santa for, praying for, and wishing for and there it is even the finish I wanted "thank you Jenn"
Anyways, this guitar out of the box was ready for me to ROCK, I love the oiled neck, the finish, and the accessability of the frets. She is a beauty, I had no issues what so ever, it truly is worth the investment!!! Buy one or two!!

Comments about Charvel Desolation DX-1 FR Soloist Electric Guitar:

Asia proves they can produce a good sounding, functional guitar and even include a near original Floyd Rose (1000 series) for less than 7 bills! The 24 fret neck was nearly perfect for string height, just a little buzz on the low E which I adjust the trem height for. After changing strings (they stretched out in 1-2 days) the trem is level in the body and the nickel finish is beautiful. I give it mild use and it stays in tune perfectly. I will be adding a trem blocker later since I'm no Dimebag.

As mentioned before, this guitar needs another version with more standard (Duncan?) pups in an HSS style with a 5-way switch, some tone control also. I've never had EMGs and find them a bit too metal-ish right now as my styles range from REM to Evanescense to Floyd. But hey, that's where my Strat comes in.

I looked at the Dean MAB series (very similar, but pricy), the Gibson/Kramer 84 (weak trem) and settled on this. I made a good choice. If you shred, this is your axe.
