It's aesthetically stunning, exceedingly easy to fret, has a fairly authoratative voice, with great low end.
I have a new favorite guitar! I was a bit apprehensive ordering this on line, never having had the chance to play it first, but I gotta say, my expectations have been exceeded - by a bunch!

It took a while for the strings to "settle in" (I'd forgotten that about nylon-string guitars - the last one I had was an Alvarez, about 30 years ago), but once they did, the sound is fabulous! It's got a great low end, and is extremely easy to play. It came set up just about perfectly. I probably will lower the saddle a bit the first time I change strings on it, however. The only other guitar I've ever bought that came this well set up is a high-end Michael Kelly acoustic/electric. Even my Breedlove needed some setting up.

To top it off, it's aesthetically magnificent. Beautiful!

So don't hesitate...if you think you might like this one, go ahead and order it. You won't be disappointed.

I have been playing for 20+ years and for the last 5 or so been concentrating on classical and fingerstyle. I absolutely love the Spanish guitar sound. I love the look, the feel, everything. I have played umpteen different makes and models and each one has its own pros and cons. I had heard of the Cordoba line and played a couple, and they seemed pretty nice, so I ordered the C5. The combination of woods - cedar and mahogany, seemed perfect. However, the guitar was a huge disappointment. First, there were scratches and dents all over the guitar. The action was so high, it seemed at first like the neck was warped. The sound was OK, but due to the setup, it played horribly. Perhaps this was just a fluke. Cordoba seems like a very successful company and they didn't get that way making substandard guitars. I just think the folks in Quality Control let this one slip by. In my opinion, the most consistent manufacturer of budget line classical guitars is Yamaha. I have yet to play one that was bad. If you are just getting into classical or flamenco guitar, by a Yamaha. Their attention to detail is unsurpassed, and their guitars play well and sound very nice. Most players get discouraged early on because of playability issues like the ones I described above, but with Yamaha guitar, you will enjoy playing, and stay focused. Then later, upgrade to a handmade, all solid wood guitar. Thanks.

The C5's Achille's Heel

By Superheterodyne

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

My C5 was received 4 years ago. I enjoyed the guitar very much, it was above-and-beyond good-looking for the price, and its sound was warm-semi-bright and projected well. At the end of last year I upgraded my strings for more serious classical guitar study...later in the same week I came home to a fully separated bridge. The glue was intact; the wood itself gave way with some wood fibers stuck to the glue on the bridge. I miss the guitar. I actually want to send it to a luthier to have it repaired...or I may just buy another one. My advice to any who want to get this guitar: if you live in dry/arid climates, get a HUMIDIFIER for the guitar case...this probably might have saved my guitar. P.S. mine was made in Portugal.

unbelievable deal

By Mark Nelson

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I have played the guitar for more than forty years and own several expensive steel string guitars. I recently started taking classical guitar lessons with a very accomplished teacher, with an incredible resmum. The new fingerpicking style I am learning is less-than-easy on a steel string guitar, so I decided, after playing the teacher's high end nylon string guitar, I should buy one. Of course I thought it wise to start with something inexpensive. After reading all the on-line reviews I decided on the Cordoba C5 at it's affordable price. What a guitar. The fit and finish is incredible and the sound is crisp and clear. The teacher played it through most of an hour lesson and was blown away with the quality and the sound. Great guitar at three times the price!

NICE SOUNDING AND QUALITY CLASSICAL

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The only thing I can complain about is mine did not have the frets finished that great on the ends. When I changed strings i filed off the sharp edges and evened them up with the edge of the fret board carefully. And adjusted the truss rod to my liking.
Also be warned: If you just look at the cedar top it marks. Cedar is soft but gives that warm tone. I have dings and have no idea how they got there. Pick marks, nail marks, etc. Get use to it. You can get a half yard of clear plastic at good old WalMarts fabric department for a couple bucks to cut out self stick plastic pickguards for your guitars with poly finish. Do not use on Nitro finish. Not even in the case. Thats it.
I got it to learn flamenco style. Like the rest of the reviews say here. Its hard to put down.
It makes any style songs sound really sweet. I play it every day.
I looked and played a bunch in this price range and a few bucks above. The neck on this guitar is super comfortable and perfect width. I have a nylon with 1.75 width nut and like this one better.
The fact it does not have electronics is not an issue.

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

After looking at classical guitars in this price range, I settled on the Cordoba primarily because I could adjust the action with the truss rod. Very few (any?) classical guitars in this range have this ability. The workmanship on my guitar is excellent, no complaints other than the fret ends were a bit sharp, which was easily remedied in a few minutes with a small file. If you're a beginner, don't waste your money on a less expensive "starter" guitar...as you learn you'll appreciate the ability to dial in the action on this one, and you'll learn faster playing on an instrument that you don't have to fight to fret properly. If you're an experienced guitarist, I think you'll be impressed by the price point on this one.

      Great Guitar

      By Scc

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I bought the Cordoba C5 two years ago, and I have enjoyed it ever since. The tone is great, and it is definitely worth buying. The Cordoba will beat any guitar in its price range, and it looks much better too. The only problem I have is that the inlays are not on the fretboard, but on the side of the fretboard, and I sometimes get mixed up.Another problem is one day, when I walked into my house, the bridge had come off. Luckily I was still on my 1 year warrantee. Get a humidifier.

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

It is what it claims to be and it looks and sounds beautiful, what more could you ask for?
It's a classical guitar with all the features required to make it so. It's exactly as advertised.
The finish is top notch, the intonation isn't dead on perfect (except on two of the strings), but I only know that because I tested it, but it's close enought that I don't hear any stray sharps or flats. The neck on mine appears to be cut from a solid piece of mahogany, there are not decernible areas of lamination, which is great with me. The only real concern is the stings seem to have some rough edges on the clear treble units, but I'm not sure if that's normal or not for the brand that's on it, nevertheless, the strings sound great and the action is set just right so they don't buzz no matter how hard you hit them.
Solid cedar top with everything needed to learn how to play classical guitar. The tone sounds really good, much better than any other in this price range. You can't beat the price, I chose this over the cheaper C3M because the C5 has a more expensive looking finish and comes with a nice gig bag.

The more playing time I put in, the more volume the guitar seems develop. It's one of those things you purchase and you can not seem to walk by it without picking it up..It's a lot of fun - that's foresure. I am certain you will enjoy it!

After trying four or five different classical guitars in this price range I decided to go with the C5. Quality of this guitar for the money in this price range the C5, in my opinion, is the best, full stop.

Which explains why the C5 I played tonight was balanced, warm, with bright trebles and a full bass that keeps on giving. The quality was nice, action was sweet, tuning was very stable, and we'll see what happens after a month of DADGAD fingerstyle. Yeah, it does that. The only dings were supplied by people who played it before me. I played a few Ramirez models side by side, and I'm not lyin', this sounded and felt better. It's a fluke, I got a great one. Play them IN PERSON before you buy. Duh. It's a guitar, not a Craftsman wrench.

I recently got this guitar for Christmas and loved the sound of it from the very beginning. This guitar has a very smooth, mellow sound which goes great with any finger-style picking. Also, Cordoba must have put 5 coats of lacquer on this thing because it is SUPER glossy. If you are looking for a GREAT guitar for a GREAT price, pick this one up. You won't be disappointed.

I have a pretty good classical guitar that's not very old, but if and when I need another, this is the one I'll get! I've played this thing at a local music store a couple of times, and have been amazed with the sound. It really does render a true classical sound.I think its the both the body style (on the small side, with lots of indenting curve) and the materials. It's extremely light bodied. Don't buy this if you're carrying it to class all the time, or to last a lifetime otherwise. It's a bit on the fragile side, but the weight is the sign of its status as a true classical. The timbre is excellent! It really gives those throaty low tones that so many others anywhere in this price range lack. Buy this one for the sound! Now get me off this page before I spend more money.

When I first bought the guitar several weeks ago, I was quite satisfied. Eventually one of the strings developed a fret buzz and I had to send everything back to get it replaced. I regressed back to my older acoustic steel string guitar and boy did I miss that Cordoba! I underestimated the quality of the sound because I had nothing to compare it with but I'm getting it back soon and I'll probably dedicate that entire day to sit back, tune the guitar, and simply sit back playing my favorite songs. For those who are looking into a classical guitar and are fence-straddling between the C5 and another, I guarantee that you won't be sorry if you had to choose this one over the latter.
