I have a new favorite guitar! I was a bit apprehensive ordering this on line, never having had the chance to play it first, but I gotta say, my expectations have been exceeded - by a bunch!

It took a while for the strings to "settle in" (I'd forgotten that about nylon-string guitars - the last one I had was an Alvarez, about 30 years ago), but once they did, the sound is fabulous! It's got a great low end, and is extremely easy to play. It came set up just about perfectly. I probably will lower the saddle a bit the first time I change strings on it, however. The only other guitar I've ever bought that came this well set up is a high-end Michael Kelly acoustic/electric. Even my Breedlove needed some setting up.

To top it off, it's aesthetically magnificent. Beautiful!

So don't hesitate...if you think you might like this one, go ahead and order it. You won't be disappointed.

I have been playing for 20+ years and for the last 5 or so been concentrating on classical and fingerstyle. I absolutely love the Spanish guitar sound. I love the look, the feel, everything. I have played umpteen different makes and models and each one has its own pros and cons. I had heard of the Cordoba line and played a couple, and they seemed pretty nice, so I ordered the C5. The combination of woods - cedar and mahogany, seemed perfect. However, the guitar was a huge disappointment. First, there were scratches and dents all over the guitar. The action was so high, it seemed at first like the neck was warped. The sound was OK, but due to the setup, it played horribly. Perhaps this was just a fluke. Cordoba seems like a very successful company and they didn't get that way making substandard guitars. I just think the folks in Quality Control let this one slip by. In my opinion, the most consistent manufacturer of budget line classical guitars is Yamaha. I have yet to play one that was bad. If you are just getting into classical or flamenco guitar, by a Yamaha. Their attention to detail is unsurpassed, and their guitars play well and sound very nice. Most players get discouraged early on because of playability issues like the ones I described above, but with Yamaha guitar, you will enjoy playing, and stay focused. Then later, upgrade to a handmade, all solid wood guitar. Thanks.

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

After looking at classical guitars in this price range, I settled on the Cordoba primarily because I could adjust the action with the truss rod. Very few (any?) classical guitars in this range have this ability. The workmanship on my guitar is excellent, no complaints other than the fret ends were a bit sharp, which was easily remedied in a few minutes with a small file. If you're a beginner, don't waste your money on a less expensive "starter" guitar...as you learn you'll appreciate the ability to dial in the action on this one, and you'll learn faster playing on an instrument that you don't have to fight to fret properly. If you're an experienced guitarist, I think you'll be impressed by the price point on this one.

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

For a little more the C7 is a far superior guitar. If I were making this purchase all over again I would not pick the C5. Also, the quality of fret boar is not satisfactory. After few months, it appears the fretboard shrunk and the frets stick out considerably. They are sharp and scratching the heck out of my thumb and fingers when I play it. This is likely due to dry air in my apartment in the middle of a Chicago winter. However, my Ibanez prestige and Gibson les paul have had no such issue. They sit on the same guitar rack as the C5.
Sound is not bad but that's of little use when the guitar itself is a hazard to play.

This is a great guitar for the price, nice action right out of the box and overall good sound that is:(ONCE I Finally received it).The problems that occurred was with musicians friend customer service, slow shipping, and delays on the backorder..I ordered this guitar on Dec 1st and did not receive it until Jan 9th.. it was backordered and was supposed to ship out a week before Christmas.... it did not ship out until Jan 7th!...I did not receive an email about it being backordered a second time until Dec 26th the day after Christmas...Then I look online around the first week January and it shows its in stock and my guitar still has not shipped..I had to contact musicians friend via telephone to get results (and the phone help was not very friendly),I figure with the wait that they could have at the very least offered me a gift card or something?...In the past I really have enjoyed ordering from musicians friend, but on my next musical purchase I may look to buy from the competitor. Thanks

I bought this to keep as a travel guitar to practice on, as I do not like to always bring my Iouannou everywhere for protective reasons. I have tried other substitutes, but few mass produced guitars compare to quality single builder guitars. This one does not compare either - however - for the price, it is perfect. Great projection, and tone. I was surprised at the excellent volume of this guitar. That seems to be a problem with many mass produced guitars, weak volume. Also, I never owned a cedar top guitar, as I have always been partial to spruce. This guitar has a nice look and plays real well. Finally, something I can drag around and really get in good practice time on without breaking the bank.
                      Good job Cordoba!

This was a gift for my sister who had been playing a very cheap classical guitar. She pulled this Cordoba C5 out of the box and merely had to strum two chords to be blown away by the incredible sound.

                            NICE SOUNDING AND QUALITY CLASSICAL

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The only thing I can complain about is mine did not have the frets finished that great on the ends. When I changed strings i filed off the sharp edges and evened them up with the edge of the fret board carefully. And adjusted the truss rod to my liking.
Also be warned: If you just look at the cedar top it marks. Cedar is soft but gives that warm tone. I have dings and have no idea how they got there. Pick marks, nail marks, etc. Get use to it. You can get a half yard of clear plastic at good old WalMarts fabric department for a couple bucks to cut out self stick plastic pickguards for your guitars with poly finish. Do not use on Nitro finish. Not even in the case. Thats it.
I got it to learn flamenco style. Like the rest of the reviews say here. Its hard to put down.
It makes any style songs sound really sweet. I play it every day.
I looked and played a bunch in this price range and a few bucks above. The neck on this guitar is super comfortable and perfect width. I have a nylon with 1.75 width nut and like this one better.
The fact it does not have electronics is not an issue.

I have played the guitar for more than forty years and own several expensive steel string guitars. I recently started taking classical guitar lessons with a very accomplished teacher, with an incredible resmum. The new fingerpicking style I am learning is less-than-easy on a steel string guitar, so I decided, after playing the teacher's high end nylon string guitar, I should buy one. Of course I thought it wise to start with something inexpensive. After reading all the on-line reviews I decided on the Cordoba C5 at it's affordable price. What a guitar. The fit and finish is incredible and the sound is crisp and clear. The teacher played it through most of an hour lesson and was blown away with the quality and the sound. Great guitar at three times the price!
