OVERVIEW

An incredible value for all guitar players seeking a quality and unique shaped instrument.

The Cort MBC-1 Matthew Bellamy Signature Electric Guitar is based upon the official MB1-S series and features a newly designed pickup set from the Manson Guitar Works team together with a discrete kill button.

The new matte black finished guitar incorporates a sleek maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, a solid basswood body, special Manson designed bridge humbucker and true single-coil neck pickup reflecting the layout of several of Bellamy' stage and studio custom instruments. The kill button allows a wide range of guitar effects to be created by the player without resorting to outboard effects. The headstock design features Bellamy' distinct signature together with the Cort logo. The rear of the neck has a gloss finish and Manson logo behind the headstock.

Pickups
The MBC-1 is equipped with pickups developed by Manson Guitar Works especially for this guitar. The versatile setup includes a fully voiced humbucker in the bridge and a true single coil neck pickup reflecting the layout of several of Bellamy' stage and studio custom instruments.

Controls
The controls on the MBC-1 are simple while versatile. There is a single volume control, master tone and a three way switch. This controls the humbucker/ single coil pickup combination. It all works together with the kill button and the overall instrument design to give you a highly creative and great sounding instrument.

Manson Guitar Works has been making custom guitars with over 30 years of experience and is known for its reputation for innovation and quality. They have worked closely with Matthew Bellamy for two decades and build his custom instruments for both studio and stage work.

Matthew Bellamy is the lead guitarist and vocalist of the British rock band Muse. Recognised as one of the best guitar players of his generation, Matthew and the two other members of Muse are currently recording their seventh studio album.

Cort, founded in 1960, are one of the largest guitar manufacturers in the world with a vast experience in building solid body and acoustic guitars.

At this price range, you're getting a really great instrument. The neck feels great, the pick-ups are solid and it's fun to play. The tone does sound pretty Muse-ish, which is awesome.

Comments about Cort MBC-1 Matthew Bellamy Signature Electric Guitar:

If you're a fan of Muse and Matt Bellamy like I am, this guitar is exactly what you want from a Manson for less than half the price of a true Manson. Without even plugging the guitar in, you can feel the resonance and tone the guitar has right from the start. The neck's slim profile makes for extremely good playability, especially in the upper ranges of the neck. In terms of plugging in, the humbucker pickup has amazing power behind it, combined with the great tone from the single coil neck pickup to produce amazing tone. Without even changing the settings on your amp, you can switch from a clean sound from the single coil to a slightly distorted rocky feel with the humbucker. The middle setting has a perfect blend between the two, combining the humbucker's power with the single's cleanliness to get an awesome tone overall. One thing to note is that this guitar has passive pickups, not active like the site tells. The kill button is perfectly placed in a manner that allows ease of use in the middle of playing. The button itself doesn't feel cheap. It feels more like an xbox controller button, meant to take a lot of use. The one complaint about the button is that it does make an audible sound when used on a clean setting, but this is very minor considering you most likely wont be using it on a clean setting. In terms of a Muse standpoint, striking behind the nut gives you exactly the same sound as Bellamy does live, for songs like Time is Running Out and Reapers. The humbucker produces the heavier tones for songs like The Handler almost to perfection, and handles more groovy songs like Exo-politics just as well. I always switch between calling this guitar a Cort and a Manson, because it really does play just like a Manson
