Comments about Danelectro 12 String Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I have ten 6 string electrics, most high end. Since I am a Beatle nut, I all of a sudden had to have a 12 string for some of George's work. The Rics were too pricey, and besides, I wanted a wider neck. But I also wanted truss rod adjustment at the headstock, and I also wanted full 12 string saddle adjustment tuning capability. The Semi-Hollow DanElectro offered all that. The low price concerned me. But, bottom line, I bought it and am very glad I did. Tuning out of the box was very good ( I only made an adjustment on one string). Neck and action ditto -very good. It will not win any beauty prizes, but it is very functional and solidly built. Like any 12 string it is harder to play cleanly. And it must be kept in tune, but that is no more a problem than for my 6 strings. All in all, lots of fun and a real value.

Comments about Danelectro 12 String Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

The Danelectro 12 string is a well constructed, good feeling and good-sounding guitar. The tone and volume controls work with the pickups to provide sound that goes from country jangly clean to mellow jazz without adjustments at the amp. It even sounds great with a bit of gritty overdrive. The set-up out of the box was one of the best I have ever seen among dozens of guitars. The action was spot-on, making the guitar incredibly easy to play with no buzzes whatsoever. The bridge is extremely well-designed, allowing for intonation adjustment for each of the 12 strings individually as well as for easy string changes (for a 12-string). However, it was intonated perfectly when I received it! The fret work was flawless. The neck has a good feel and the perfect width for a 12-string - not too narrow, not too wide. Design and craftsmanship, while nothing fancy, are solid. This guitar is seriously fun to play and a no-brainer addition to any collection at this price. The only negative thing I could possibly say about it is with the light hollow body and the elongated headstock with metal enclosed Gotoh tuners, there is a definite neck dive when standing. Nothing that can't be dealt with a strap with friction, like suede. Highly recommended for anyone who would like to add an affordable 12er to their axe arsenal.

Comments about Danelectro 12 String Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Had been eying this guitar for over a year and finally took the plunge about a week ago. I once owned a Rickenbacker 620 12-string so I have a good sense of the strengths and weaknesses of the Rics. As many others have said, the guitar was well set up out of the box. The wide neck is a definite plus v. the narrow neck on Rics, and makes the guitar easy to play for a 12. Build quality seems very good...will just have to see how well it stands up to use over the next few years. Tone is great...super chimey which is the whole point of a 12. So far the guitar has been very stable in terms of staying in tune...no small thing for a 12 string. Not beautiful like a Ric but looks retro-cool nonetheless. Last but not least the price is very affordable, which is key given that most people don't play 12-string on everything. All in all, a very solid, playable 12 and a great value. Save your money for a Rickenbacker 6-string (I have a 330), and buy the Danelectro if you want a 12. Rock and roll!

Comments about Danelectro 12 String Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Initially I wasn't really in the market for a 12 string electric, but my playing situation changed and I found that the 12 string electric that I had (Schecter Stargazer 12) was good, but didn't fit the music I was playing and needed something different. I was always curious about Danelectro guitars after seeing them played by artists for years. Their guitars always seemed to me, to be more toy like than serious guitar and the price didn't help me think otherwise. From time to time I have picked up Danelectros and never gave them any second thought, especially since I found them to be very inconsistent in tone and construction and my 12 string Dano is no exception. What I needed was a 12 string electric that had a bright, twangy tone and the Danelectro fit the bill perfectly. My Dano, has a great tone, very comfortable neck, surprisingly stays in tune even after heavy play and is just plain fun to play. That's the good, here's the not so good. Not every Dano plays and sounds the same and you may find that you will have to return one or two to get the gem you are looking for. Secondly these are not guitars built by master craftsman. The one I finally kept, sounded great, but the volume and tone controls don't provide subtle tone adjustment with small incremental movement. Also, the toggle switch did create some clicking noise when hit. I'm really comfortable working on my guitars and have no problem making adjustments and beefing up weak soldering, which is what I did and the guitar works well. I may go back and change the volume and tone pots, depending on how it works live. If I were to rate the construction I'd give it 2.5 stars, but for fun, tone and playability it's a solid 4 stars. For me, if a guitar has great tone and is really fun to play, like my Dano 12, I tend to give the guitar higher marks, especially since I can always fix the things that bother me. If you need a 12 string or just want to have something sonically different, this should be on your list.

Comments about Danelectro 12 String Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

This Danelectro 12 is much more than I expected, I have played a number of 12 string electrics, Ricks being some of them and this guitar hold right up there with them if not better in some ways. The action is superior to the Rickenbacker, Even though its made in Korea the guitar is set up here professionally in California. Stays in tune, better finger action than most 6 string electrics. The Quality Control they put in before they ship it shines through. If you are into or need a 12 string solid body this is your guitar for a great price.

I sold my only Dano years ago and have been searching for a replacement ever since. Boy, did I find it! This guitar exceeded my expectations. Not only is it beautiful and very well built, but it sounds incredible. Seriously, you wouldn't believe the build quality. It's a solid instrument. The pick ups sound great too. The middle position is both pick ups together, in phase, and the sound is stunning. Pair it with a compressor and a tube amp and you can get that classic 60's jangle easily. If I come across another in the wild I would buy it in a heartbeat.
