This guitar was an impulse buy. I've always been interested in Danelectro guitars, but never have had the opportunity to play one. I ordered the "orange-adelic" color and instantly started doubting my choice of both color and guitar. Would it look and feel like a toy? The box arrived with a crushed corner, so with a heavy heart I opened it up, fearing the worst. It ships without a case or gig bag, in a cardboard box inside of a shipping carton. I was instantly impressed by the color, and the excellent fit and finish of the guitar, in spite of the relatively cheap construction materials (popular neck, masonite top, tape binding). The fret ends were polished and smooth, and the tuners are adequate and work as intended. The concentric volume/tone knobs and switch work smoothly, although they are placed rather close together. The two lipstick pickups are awesome! You can get a clean, ringing sound or a chainsaw growl out of them without any pedals, and the harmonics and sustain are absolutely unbelievable. The only real problem is the positioning of the bridge in the body routing. I can see, and others have mentioned in reviews, that changing strings or replacing a broken string at a gig will be a major undertaking. It looks like the bridge has to be loosened and moved back on the mounting posts in order to restring. This is absolutely ridiculous, and should be addressed by Danelectro. But this guitar sounds so good and is so much fun to play, that against my better judgement I am going to keep it. It's just too cool to send back...

I love the way this guitar looks and plays and I love that it's light--easy on the back. The tone isn't *that* distinctive if you ask me, but I like the tone. I have two beefs with the one(s) I got. On the first one, the pickup selection toggle switch was defective. You had to jiggle it around to get the bridge pickup to be on. I sent that back. The replacement works, but the toggle switch still feels cheap. The other beef is the "stacked" volume/tone knobs. Looks really cool but they stick together. I like the tone all the way up all the time, but need to vary the volume when playing on stage. When I turn the volume down, the tone goes down with it. A minor annoyance but if you're going to have an innovative feature, it should work well.

Comments about Danelectro '59 Modified New Old Stock Electric Guitar:

I was very surprised at how well built this guitar is; fit, finish and feel is excellent. The go go blue color is vibrant. As good as this guitar looks and feels, it sounds even better! If you want that early jangle and chime, Brit invasion this guitar has it. My main guitars are Rickenbacker which are in another price/quality zone, but this guitar gets very close and is versatile. I don't gig my Rics, but this will cover that sonic territory. I'd like a few more in different colors, this guitar is that good, for even twice the price!

Bought this on a whim.always wanted a danelectro even a reissue. It's not the best sounding guitar but, easy to play, light and just stunning in Orange. It's a fun guitar wouldn't use it on stage but, maybe recording if I needed that kinda cheap sound. Overall, it's just fun.

Comments about Danelectro '59 Modified New Old Stock Electric Guitar:

I played the Squier classic vibe tele and this. I really couldn't decide between the two and went with this on it's vibrant orange color and shape.

The volume and tone controls feel cheap but they're hardly a concern for me personally.

I wish I could take credit for this but someone else said it first. "The lipstick single coils on my Dano have so much twang that they made my Tele blush:. Great guitar for the price, love the color. Not the same build quality as my Jerry Jones Dano clone but it's also a third of the price.

Comments about Danelectro '59 Modified New Old Stock Electric Guitar:

This guitar is miles ahead of their other reproduction attempts at the DC59. I had one back in 1999 and it was super cheap compared to this one. This model is very well built. Smooth neck, very playable, quality tuners, very clean electronics, and a great paint job. I like how well balanced it is too. With some guitars the neck just hits the ground when you put it on, but not this one. The sound is bright and it looks super cool. It comes delivered in a box only, no bag or case. A solid purchase for the money.

I've bought a ton of stuff from our friends at MF over the last couple years, this was the best 3 Benjamin purchase of them all. Super light while still feeling solid, and great action without feeling sloppy. The tone is the key here though. With this guitar you definately add something unique to your arsenal.

Comments about Danelectro '59 Modified New Old Stock Electric Guitar:

The overall quality of this Danelectro is an improvement over my late-90's DC3. The strap buttons and bridge are greatly upgraded. There has always been a kind of cheap magic about Danelectro guitars. It's part of their charm. The '59 Modified NOS that I received last week is rather in that vein. The electronics in the guitar I received were solid except for the toggle switch, which engages both pickups before the switch fully engages the middle position. This is not a huge problem but it should not be that way. The out-of-the-box setup was very nice and the playability is excellent. It's fast and smooth and a lot of fun. I have no fret buzz at all on the guitar I received. The tone is quite nice from the neck and bridge pickups but it really shines in the middle position. I wouldn't suggest this guitar as a 'First', Beginner, or sole guitar but I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to add a shiny, jangly flavor to their collection for not a whole lot of money.
