OVERVIEW

A beauty and a beast in one beautiful single-cutaway dreadnought.

From master-luthier John D'Angelico's humble beginnings in the Lower East side of Manhattan comes this modern flagship acoustic, the Bowery (SD-500). A single-cutaway dreadnought with a solid Sitka spruce top, its rosewood back and sides project the Bowery's massive roar. But have no fear: a slim C-shaped neck and rosewood fingerboard make for great comfort. With the sleek additions of FU-Tone brass bridge pins, a tortoise pickguard and block mother-of-pearl inlays and Fishman's INK-4 pickup system, the Bowery is destined to be a classic.

Comments about D'Angelico Bowery Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I don't know why all these new guitars are sent with 0.12"s on them. Especially shipped tuned to pitch from Indonesia to New York. It upsets the neck and gives a "muddy" sound to a FINE instrument. Martin SP's
(MSP-3000)/ 0.10 to 0.47 are perfect for most acoustics (though I am no friend of Martin) and give a full, even lush sound; particularly on this guitar, after a little neck adjustment, came to life sounding as good as any of the 8 Martin's that I own. No Brag: I have 52 years experience and a collection of 152 instruments representing 10 countries and ~50 brands, and, this is one of my top ten. FL

Comments about D'Angelico Bowery Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I own two of these guitars and the third one I received was a level three. The description was not complete for the headstock was damaged and a part was nearly falling off and the strap buttom and the jack were too damaged to keep for the price of the guitar.
      I am returning it today.

Great sound! Awesome looks! Plays like the solid rosewood I dreamed about. Balanced bass and treble and resonance. Neck could be the normal narrow like Gibson, but it's a great guitar.

Action is a little high, but after lowering it, all is well, intonation is spot on. Plays great & sounds fantastic with
or without amplification. I have always been impressed with Indonesian expertise. I would highly recommend
these guitars . I just ordered a second one

Comments about D'Angelico Bowery Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

After searching long and hard for the best solid wood acoustic guitar for the price I was very fortunate to find this gem. If you can't afford a 700 series Taylor or other high end solid rosewood guitars that go between 2 and 3 grand then this is what you need and in my opinion this guitar holds up perfectly against those brands, however, I would never dare to say that it's better as that's something I just don't say about guitars in general. You can't find these guitars in stores and that left me a little cautious because I want to try a guitar before investing in one, but this guitar was ready to go for me right out of the box. I have the vintage sunburst and the pictures online do not do this guitar justice. It truly is one of the most beautiful guitars I've seen in my 20 plus years of playing and the looks parallel perfectly with the sound and feel of this instrument. I know that looks aren't everything, but it is good to have a guitar with a unique physical identity and this guitar has that. Not only does it have a deep rich sound characteristic of dreadnoughts, but it also produces a very clear and distinct sound that isn't drowned out by the bass. The D'Addario EXP - 16 strings compliment the guitar perfectly as well. I literally didn't need to do a thing to this instrument besides tune it & play it after I took it out of the box. I do not use the electronics on acoustics, but the tuner on this guitar is accurate and easy to use. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone who wants a high end solid rosewood guitar that really does have everything a player could ask for in an acoustic. Well done D'Angelico!!
