    Comments about D'Angelico EX-DC/SP Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have never bought a guitar without playing it first...so this was a risk for me. As soon as I opened the case and picked it up my fear was gone. After a little tuning, it played just great (out of the box). The design and the construction are solid and it's looks are supreme. I have Les Pauls and Strats but this bridges the gap very nicely. Well done D'Angelico...and a big thanks to Musician's Friend for the quick service.

      Comments about D'Angelico EX-DC/SP Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Very beautiful, plays so easy, sounds great. Just wish it didn't say made in Korea. Feels better than my ES 135. Wish they would have used some better looking knobs, and the input jack became loose after playing it 4 or 5 times. All I can say is look out G*****, maybe as good at half the price. Showed it to my son Sam, he played it for 2 hours solid. He loved it. We have Gibson's ES 135, Les Paul studio mahogany, Fender American Deluxe Strat 50th Anni., Mexican strats, G&L ASAT deluxe, SGR, and I feel it is just as good as any of them.

        Comments about D'Angelico EX-DC/SP Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Great D'Angelico guitar with the 335 body, for a lot less than G*****. Extremely well made, well balanced, wonderful tone and sustain. Their really is no downside to this guitar. Very versatile country, jazz, blues, rock etc. What is not said in the description is the neck is a little wider (like acoustic width)than most but this makes chords much easier to play cleanly.(especially jazz chords and bends) The neck is not thick, it is a little thicker than a standard fender neck, but does not effect the tone.(great tone and sustain) These are personal preferences. So if you looking for a versatile guitar that has great tone and playability, here it is.

          Comments about D'Angelico EX-DC/SP Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I found this guitar to be very well made, with a beautiful art deco design theme. It sounded very good even for over-driven blues or rock solo tones. However, I had to return it to MFriend for one reason. I think the guitar came with 010 gauge strings, which I don't use. I replaced the strings with 009s. The weird thing was that the 009s felt like heavier gauge strings! I had to apply more pressure when picking and strumming than I do with my PRS Custom 22 and Gibson Lucille guitars. When I went back to those guitars I found myself picking and strumming too hard. I really wanted to keep the D'Angelico, but couldn't because of this weird situation.

I've been trying out many guitars and types, but this one is a keeper. Beautiful sound, design and workmanship. I get compliments on it wherever I go. It's labeled with Made in Korea, but the Company must watch quality control very closely.

            Comments about D'Angelico EX-DC/SP Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I've been playing guitar for ~17 years and never considered semi-hollow bodies. All the ones I've played just didn't feel right in my hands. And on the rare case they DID feel nice, they had a Gibson emblem on the headstock and cost upwards of $3000. I picked this guitar up on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised. Unplugged it sounds full and bright and plugged in, you get a sweet, warm sound that takes VERY well to gain. Finding the feedback sweet-spot is pretty easy and notes just hang out as long as you want them to. The pickups are on the hot side (hotter than my Strat anyways), so this is good for classic rock/jam-band stuff, blues, jazz, and anything where you'd want a warm tone with a little grit.

The pickups are a bit dark for Rock but sound fine for jazz. If you like this body shape and don't mind a fat neck go for it.
