Comments about D'Angelico Excel Gramercy Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I use this guitar when playing out with our trio (2 acoustic guitars and a drummer sitting on a beatbox). When amplified, this guitar is perfect for what we do. It's easy to play, it stays in tune, and it looks stunning. During our breaks, guitarists often come up to look at this guitar, unaware that D'Angelico has recently started to make this kind of acoustic. The headstock retains the distinctive D'Angelico "art deco" motif that has been a hallmark of their hollow-body electrics. I was watching an old movie (1940's, I think)on TCM, and one of the characters played in a jazz band. His guitar had this exact headstock! Finally, I was most impressed with the fit and finish of this guitar. Just about flawless inside and out. BTW, the case that came with this is the best one I've ever owned. Five latches! Seems almost like overkill, but I've learned to love the security of it.
