Comments about D'Angelico Excel Series 175 Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby B-30:

I read in a book a while back that one of Chet Atkins first guitars was a D'Angelico that he purchased back in the 50s. I figured instead of getting a Gretch I'd give this D'Angelico Excel 175 a shot. I wasn't disappointed-- the tone is unmatched and the kent armstrongs with the 12 pole sounds great, and really gives me that old Chet Nashville sound that I've been looking for.

Highly recommended to anyone. Can't put it down.

Comments about D'Angelico Excel Series 175 Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby B-30:

This is my first semi hollow. I've been blown away by the look, feel and sound of it. It's got a thick, warm tone that works exceptionally well for what I play (jazz, fusion, blues, etc). The manufacturer's attention to detail is evident. Nice balance, nothing out of place, everything works the way it should. The Bigsby tremolo is an added bonus, it keeps the axe stable and in tune and gives the option for some fun, shimmery sounds. 5/5.

Comments about D'Angelico Excel Series 175 Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby B-30:

I played an ex 175 at my friend's studio for rhythm tracks, love the the way it sounded and ended up using it for leads too. It's really great in any range (like lower dirty riffy stuff, full mid range chords, pristine licks over the 12th). I picked one up for myslef after the session and it's become a staple at home and for gigging. Mechanically speaking this guitar it is SO consistent - always in tune (and I make a lot of use out of the bigsby!) and sounds incredible even after regular playing for 1.5 yrs. (though I do take pretty good care of my guitars when I'm not playing them). If you play rock/blues/jazz you will love riffin'/singing'/compin' on this guitar. Oh and it's GORGEOUS looking :).

Comments about D'Angelico Excel Series 175 Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby B-30:

I picked one of the black models up on the day of a recent show... chose playing it over my '78 Gibson The Paul (my most reliable guitar). Even with a different gauge of strings than I'm used to, the feel and tone of this bad boy on stage were astounding. Everyone in my band commented on how great my sound was that night (running through a newer AC30). Super full and rich. Since then, I have played the guitar at home every day because I can't get enough of it. The neck feels amazing, and the tone is gorgeous even when it's unplugged. On top of that, it stays in tune and responds great to the variety of alternate tunings I use. I would recommend this to any player, from hard rock to jazz and anywhere in between. This is my new favorite guitar (and my nicest!)
