Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
I bought a Dean 1980 Cadillac use in good condition. I was worried that it might come in poor condition. When it arrived on time I though it looked brand new, it was in great shape, I was very pleased with my purchase.
Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
Perfect guitar for me anyways, comfortable, beautiful, and it sounds great. If I were to magically become a real rockstar id have 10 of them made from there custom shop.
Best guitar for the money by a landslide, I played the VMNTX before and my cadillac made me never want to play that guitar ever again, Its absolutely beautiful a Gibson that looks this nice out of the box would be in the 2000-3000 range, My buddy bought a Schecter Blackjack which was almost double the cost of the Dean and It feels light and sounds hollow and after he got rid of the blackouts in it the harmonics and squeels were dead sounding in comparison. Ill regret trading it in until I get the New flame top Cadillac with the DMT pickups and ebony fretboard.
Wish it were U.S. made but for the money its an absolute steal. almost plays acoustically and the action is soo sweet and firm.
I traded it away thinking id find something better, and now im buying another if that says anything.
Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
Great guitar, great look, the head stock is awesome Im so happy to have the chance to own this guitar. But Im going to change the humbuckrs with a EMG set of 81 60 but as I said before it is just the way I like my guitars, dont be afraid to buy it with the stock humbuckers they are a good sounding set. You wont be disappointed, if you like it go get it!
This guitar is pretty basic (I love basic things), set neck, tune o matic bridge, Grover machine heads, two humbuckers. As you can see LP stile, I can describe it as a hybrid between a Les Paul and an Explorer. The neck is great and for some reason my right hand feels so good, it feels so comfortable. I think the humbuckers lack some output, but this is just my opinion since Im used to play with high output and active humbuckers, I compared the humbuckers with other guitars I have with EMGs, Dimarzio and Drangon II and you can feel the difference. The stock humbuckers are not a bad set but I just like my guitars with some extra output.
Great quality, not a single flaw on this guitar. I read here some reviews about people having issues with the electronics, when I received my Cadillac it was the first thing I inspected and I did not find a problem. The A string had some buzz but it is not critical, if you have this issue think your guitar was stored on a warehouse (probably for months) then packed, shipped on a truck or plane and all this thinks can affect the guitar specially the temperature changes so as I said before it is not critical and is comprehensible not a quality issue.
Great price against quality, look and design.
Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
I just got my used Caddy today from musiciansfriend. The action is good, surprisingly the pickups are pretty good. I was planning on put a Seymour Duncan JB/59 setup in it but I think I'm going to stick with the Dean pickups. This was the first time I've ever purchased a used guitar online and thankfully I'm very satisfied with it. I also have a Gibson Studio Faded and the Caddy is right up there with it.
Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
I first saw my Cadillac on display in my local guitar shop. It wound up being one of those "The heck with it; I'm buying it" moments, and I don't regret the decision at all. I have the Black Gold model, and it plays just as well, if not better than any $3,000 Les Paul I've ever held. When I run it through my Line 6 4x12, it sings sweeter than anything in its price range and beyond. Any amount of Boss overdrive gives it the right amount of punch, no matter what your style. It's a pain changing the strings, then again I'm a Fender guy at heart so I need to get used to Tune-o-Matics. But aside from that, and save for the hex nut on the input jack coming a little loose on occasion, this guitar functions beautifully. It will sound amazing no matter what you play, and it will make you proud to be a guitarist?and it?s definitely one you?ll want to show off to whoever you can.
Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
Great looking guitar, a mix of Class and Metal, not to mention it sounds good too. Only complaint is that the chord input on it came loose and eventually fell out, a problem that was fixed with a sodering gun.
Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
Love this guitar! This thing has class written all over it. Looks and sounds amazing. I had a little bit of buzzing issues with the 6th string but it was an easy fix. I would recommend this guitar to anybody looking for a sweet looking and sounding guitar for a great price.
Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
This is my second Dean. I also own an MLX. Let me start by saying that the 1980 Cadillac is SWEEEEEEEET!!! Mine is the the discontinued 2006 blue burst finish. The Caddy has a great tone, exactly what I was looking for. The stock Dean pickups work fine, the action is good, better sustain than the MLX (obviously with a set neck as opposed to bolt-on), and comfortable neck and fretboard. The blue burst finish is absolutely gorgeous. I also got a free Dean T-shirt with the purchase. The strings are incredibly easy to change. This guitar is a wonderful value and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of buying a Dean. I tried out a $2000.00+ Les Paul Standard in the store, and I would take my Caddy over it any day. My next Dean will most likely be a Hardtail Select or a '79 Z. Maybe someday when I have the money, I'll get a USA Exotic Redwood top Caddy. Go and Get Your Wings already!!!
Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
Have it for a week. No complaints at all. Never played a bad Dean. And I play with 9s and most of my musician friends play with 9's.
Comments about Dean Cadillac 1980 Electric Guitar:
First of all, I love this guitar. It feels good in my hands, sounds good, and looks good on stage. But it had quality issues due to cheap electronics assembly: (1) The pickup switch was causing terrible crackling noises in the middle position as it jiggled around. (2) The instrument cord jack was loose. (3) The top pickup is angled sharply so that in order for the top edge not to touch the strings, the whole pickup had to be lowered. All this being said, my local luthier fixed all these problems with a screwdriver and a sauder gun for a low price. If you want a kickass guitar on a budget, buy the Cadillac and take it to your local luthier to fix it up better than new. I would buy this guitar again without hesitation.
