Comments about Dean Custom 550 Floyd Electric Guitar:

Great guitar out of the box. When I recieved it, as with every new guitar, I go through it and make sure everything is good and tight and change out the strings - I use Super Slinky's. The electronics were very good on mine, all solder joints looked solid and clean. The action needed to be lowered and the spring claw needed to be adjusted to accommadate lighter strings, but no big deal. After I got the strings changed, tuned and the guitar set up to my liking (inotation was dead on out of the box) - I plugged in and from there I have no idea where the time went. 4 hours later and I was still jamming on this guitar. It just has a great sound, great sustain, and an overall great feel to it. Neck through, ebony fingerboard, active EMG's, and a Floyd Rose 1000 - what more could you ask for or need. Stayed in tune the entire time I played, through dive bombs and pitch raises. The active EMG's are just awesome, great sound. The feel of the guitar is actually pretty light compared to other strat style guitars I have played and LP's. The neck is smooth and fast. Overall a great guitar with great feel and great sound.

Comments about Dean Custom 550 Floyd Electric Guitar:

I have been playing guitar for over 37 years now, I started with a Les Paul than went to Westone in the early 90's than a Strat in 2002 with others in between. I have to say this is the best guitar as far as craftsmanship goes that I have owned yet, Dean really puts some pride into making their guitars that is matched by no other for the price. Very easy to play and a very fast guitar and sounds awsome no matter what style of music you play. Not too crazy bout the battery powered pick-ups but they sound really good and It was sent to me with 10's strings and I found it a bit hard to play but I changed to my normal 9's and it screams now. I found replacing strings and tuning this guitar to be a nightmare at first but after you get it down it is not so bad and it never goes out of tune once you get it no matter how much you dive bomb the Floyd whammy... I LOVE IT!!! So much I also bought a Dean Bass guitar...

Comments about Dean Custom 550 Floyd Electric Guitar:

This is a much more attractive white than the pics show. Great feel and super neck. What really amazes me about this instrument is the gorgeous bell like tone it gives through my Fender Supersonic 100 and my Diamond amp, with custom 4 2x12 cabinets with Celestion CL80s. That's with the EMGs! Think Deep Purple Made in Japan type proto-metal sound. It's a great shredder but it can do more genres than metal. FR1000 and other hardware work good, it stays in tune really well. Note that this guitar won't fit in a regular guitar case. I bought a Musician's Gear bass case from MF and it fits, with a little prop to the neck scarf to keep the headstock floating in the case. Not one flaw on this instrument. Fit, finish, and hardware all a-ok. You have to adjust the FR but other than that no problems. Definitely recommended.

Comments about Dean Custom 550 Floyd Electric Guitar:

I have been playing guitar for years and I suffered a work related tendon injury on my left thumb and thought I would never play again. I bought this to help me relearn since my other older guitar can't stay in tune. I go it and it worked flawlessly. It holds tune without effort when the bridge is set-up perfectly. The electronic and the items used on the guitar make it easily the best on the market for people looking for a guitar with state of the art equipment on an artist guitar from another company, but you don't want to pay the pricetag for the brand and artist name. I might just buy another to strip it's paint off and custom paint it to have one to fit my personal look, but the white and black one looks too good to touch.

Comments about Dean Custom 550 Floyd Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar after doing a lot of reading/research on similar models from a variety of guitar companies. It has a set neck (which is super comfortable all the way to the 24th fret), a Floyd Rose 1000 (better metals than the FR Special) and a no-nonsense simple feel. It is very easy to play. The fretboard seemed wide to me (my go to guitar is a 76 Strat), but I got used to it in a few minutes. I really like how comfortable it is to bend the high E string (lots of room on the fretboard). Even though it was on the front porch for a few hours in ~15F weather, the neck was perfectly straight with no fret buzz. Three weeks later there is still no fret buzz and neck is nice and straight. I would like to have coil-splitting, but these humbuckers sound great as is - clean and crunchy tones are superb.

For the price, it was the biggest bang for the buck. Great tone, great feel, seems like excellent, high-quality craftsmanship from South Korea. And, it just feels right when I play it. My best friend played it for a few hours, and I feel it may be the best sounding guitar for him (I've played with him for 25 years)...but I'm not giving this one to him! I'm keeping it for me!

One reviewer said they had trouble finding a case that fits well for it - I bought the Musician's Gear MGMEG Molded ABS Electric Guitar Case, Item #H86557000000000, it this guitar fits perfectly in it. My only complaint about the case is that it does not have a sectioned that is covered, so the tremolo bar can bounce around inside the case (I take it off when the guitar is in the case).

Comments about Dean Custom 550 Floyd Electric Guitar:

I've been searching for a perfect metal guitar that wouldn't kill my bank account and I finally found it. Perfect neck for me. Great for bending and my small hands. Floyd setup was way too high but easily fixed. pickups were setup great so no problem there. no flaws in the guitar. I don't see how people recommend this for any style I don't. Metal and some hard rock only. I have my Epi for the rest. Really happy with the the EMGs. They really roar through my Bugera 6260. Very lightweight but has a lot of tone.
