I just picked up this guitar. Visually it is a work of art. The detail and workmanship that has gone into this instrument is awesome. It has a great sound also. I already have a Dean boca 12 string and knew that this would follow in the same foot steps at a grander scale. The reviews before mine are right on the money. This is now my favorite guitar. This is # 8 in my collection.
Ok, I got this guitar second-hand, and let me tell you, GET THIS GUITAR!!Heres the specs-Features-All gold hardware with gold covered pickups. Tone Pros style bridge. Gold Grover kidney tuners (the best in my opinion). Also, with the burled maple top and abalone inlays, this guitar is absolutely gorgeous. The guy I bought it from had had it installed with Seymour Duncan pups, and two coil splitting taps. It plays like a dream. The only reason why its not a 5 is because the neck heel makes it kind of difficult to reach the high notes at first, but you get used to it. Its also pretty heavy, like a les paul, but I like that.Quality-The wood on this guitar is top-of-the-line, and very beautiful. The top is very hard, as I have hit it against things and it dosent dent at all. It has a mahogany body, neck, and fretboard, which are all very dark and good looking. Im sure the Dean staff is very helpful, but I have not had to call them because this guitar is so awesome!Value-This guitar plays as well as most of the $1000 guitars and above that I have played.
I purchased the Dean EVO Exotic in the summer of 2007 and believe it is the best guitar I have ever owned. Not only does it have a beautiful and unique look but an incredible vibe.(It looks much better in person than in the photos) With the coil taps, volume knob for neck coil and tone knob for bridge coil, the amount of sound you can tailor from this guitar is hard to beat. It has also been the most stable guitar from a tuning standpoint. The neck has a wonderful feel which makes soloing a breeze. The fit and finish on my guitar is the best I have seen from any brand I have used or owned. I can't find a flaw any where on the guitar.(I am a woodworker and can easily spot flaws) My guitar tech was equally impressed when he performed a minor tweek and had the chance to play it. This has become my go to guitar since it has the tone of a Les Paul for rock and yet can be tailored to any other genre I have tried through my Marshall amp. Great looks, excellent tone, fit and finish and fantastic playability, not to mention a super price, make this guitar a 5+ in my opinion.
