I bought my Dean Exotica BB used about 5 years ago and am still using it every week. I absolutely love this guitar! I can't even count how many compliments I have received on both the sound and appearance. This thing sounds amazing unplugged and pretty good plugged in. I usually mic it when recording but I have been known to record it plugged in as well. I would definitely take any of the Dean Exoticas over other brands in the same price range (Washburn, Fender, Ibanez, Epiphone, etc...). I think my next guitar will have to have better electronics, though. I play plugged in at church every week and I would like to have something that sounds a little better plugged in. I should add that this guitar has taken at least one really hard fall onto a stage when the strap came loose, and has not suffered any loss of tone or sound quality. So not only does it sound great, but it is tough too.

Good guitar but could use larger frets.

I love the sound of the guitar with the exception of some fret buzz if you don't fret very close. A bit taller fret would cure the problem and I will likely have mine...Read complete review

I love the sound of the guitar with the exception of some fret buzz if you don't fret very close. A bit taller fret would cure the problem and I will likely have mine refretted. The fit and finish on the guitar was very good for the price range. Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase.

This guitar is a beauty. She sounds great even without being plugged in. is a little pricy, but for the wood and the quality, it is well worth it

I've owned mine for almost 5 years now, and it's still running strong. It's been with me to China once, I've done some nice sounding recording work with it, and it sounds great every week plugged-in in front of 400-500 people. I've gotten surprised looks on many occasions when people compliment the tone and look of the guitar, and then I tell them it's a Dean! Granted, I wish the neck was as sweet as a Taylor's, but I can't justify purchasing a fifteen hundred dollar when this one *sounds* just as good or better than most Taylors I've played. It has more presence than most Martins, and more depth than Breedloves. Yours will most likely need a good setup when it gets to you, but it'll be worth it. This relatively low priced acoustic electric can keep up with the big names, and often sounds better.

Great price for such a well made guitar!

Dean makes great guitars. They have low-end models for beginners and higher models for active musicians. They obviously found a way to make great instruments without the price tag.

I don't plug it in.

I had a BB for about three years before my drunken flatmate broke it... It's so good that I'm buying another one. The electronics aren't so great.. but then again, I don't plug it in.

Love this guitar

Overall this guitar is an excellent buy. It sounds great amplified, but unplugged this guitar's tone is topped by very few. One of my friends owns a Martin and he plays my guitar almost as much as he does his own

Outstanding Quality

Beyond my Dean, the only other Acoustic Electric I would own is a Taylor. I use my Dean 4 - 8 hours a day and it handles the abuse like I just bought it.

I LOVE this guitar

I have played many guitars over the years. This guitar is the most comfortable to me. The sound is perfect and soothing, the guitar just feels right when I play it. I love the design, simple, elegant. This guitar sounds great amplified but even better unplugged. If you ever get a chance to play this guitar outside or on an ampitheater you will understand what I mean by soothing and enjoyable.A+

Lovin' It

I first heard this guitar when the other guitarist in my band plugged it in for an acoustic song we were doing in church. He has the blue finish. It sounded wonderful. So, I came online and found this one. When I got it, I didn't put it done for hours. I took it straight to a rehearsal that I had that night. I haven't played my Washburn since. The electronics are wonderful, but it sounds even better unplugged.

This guitar is a wonderful value

Absolutely a beautiful guitar that sounds bright and clear unplugged or plugged in. The bubinga (African redwood) is gorgeous. The only thing that's better is a taylor 614ce at LOTS OF $$$$. I played over 15 guitars over a two week period Taks, Iba, yamaha, and fenders. There is no better value than this guitar - and AT THIS PRICE?! I am completely satisfied! Thanks Dean!

This guitar looks better than most however, the playibility is lacking. You have to work much harder to bar and solo on it.

Good Guitar at a good price

By Anonymous

Nice acoustic sound but plugged in it starts to lack a bit. Too stealy on the high strings, not a soft as it could be even with treble and presence taken down some. But overall, the guitar is a great value of r the price and has nice action and feel. I would buy another one. Guitar not quite there for real serious musician, but excellent for skilled player.

Gorgeous bubinga wood and inlay highlights. One of the prettiest acoustics made at any price!! This was my first acoustic. I didn't want to spend more than $500 but wanted something I would look forward to playing. I tried a number of Yamahas,Taks, Ibanez and fenders. This guitar blew them all away. It sounds fantastic plugged in or not which the Tak and Ib didn't. I love this guitar and will by another Dean electric soon!!

I bought this particular guitat two years ago, and it has served me well. It looks good, sounds good and has only gotten better with a couple a years of wear-and-tear on it. I highly recommend this instrument.

The exquisite tone, texture, and the overall beauty of this guitar are above the guitars I've played in the past.
