Really wanted to like this 12 string. The frets were inset to low into the guitar neck so that even when you pushed as hard as possible, the strings did not make a solid connection and therefore "buzzed" and was not playable. When using a capo it got somewhat better at the 5th fret but at the lower frets, even with a capo as tight as possible, the strings could not be pressed down enough due to the fret wires being too low. Very dissappointed.

I just worked on one of these for a friend. The neck is easily adjustable, but it flexs alot. In other words with the strings off the neck moves significantly, then when you put new strings back on it, the neck comes back, but it moves a lot.The other thing. The ad or description says it is flamed maple. That is partly true. It is flamed maple veneer over a laminated wood base. They should be more clear about this.

For the price, you probably cannot beat this guitar. The tone is good, the presentation is great and the price is definitely good.

    Take A Chance

    By Broken Shoulder

Comments about Dean Exotica FM 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I received my Dean Exotica with great anticipation. Out of the box, for the price, it was a handsome instrument and I was anxious to plug it in. Well, the old story is true. You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig! The sound was tinny and hollow. The strings were too far from the fret board and buzzed like a swarm of angry hornets. I say save you dough and shoot for something with a little soul.

    Not impressed!

    By WB1

Comments about Dean Exotica FM 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

First of all...the action on this guitar is NOT low at all! In fact the action is high off the neck, and uncomfortable. It looks good in person, that's not the problem. The action is not good at all, i couldn't get past that. I play it for about thirty seconds, packed it up and returned it. Not worth it.

    this 12 string rocks

    By jjrocksarizona

Comments about Dean Exotica FM 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Beautiful 12 string not only in appearance but in playability. Having been a guitarist for 41 years, owning mostly gibson and fenders, I find this guitar a treat and thrill to play. The action is close to the neck and through the PA system it rocks. Highly recommend!!!

    Amazing

Comments about Dean Exotica FM 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Buy this guitar. Firstly it looks stunning and is a work of art itself. It has a fantastic low action and unlike many 12 strings it plays as easily as an electric. The inboard tuner is great and the size of it is brill. Played through an amp it sounds great but overall this is a stunning faultless guitar! 5 STARS all the way.

    Amazing

    By The Unknown

Comments about Dean Exotica FM 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I own both the 12 and 6 string models they both are great. The timbre (sound quality) on both are amazing. The neck on the twelve string is amazing and the six string even better. The only thing I have a problem with is the preamp, it gets way to bright and the treble almost hurts. Plus this guitar is a looker.
