For the money, you get a great deal with this guitar. The wood is beautiful and is comfortable to play, although its not the easiest guitar to play. The action is a little high but not too bad. Players who have been playing for some time but are not experts should definitely take a look at this guitar. For those who are guitar-playing veterans, this guitar may be a little sub-par. The reason I say this is, it does not have the sustain as high end guitars. Its highs and lows are not super tight. The finish on the guitar is not perfect, but that is what happens when not made by hand. All that being said, that is what the guitar is like when compared to high end Taylors of Martins. I do believe it does hang with the lower end Taylors, and I think you get a better deal with this guitar. This is a good guitar, and you get more than what you pay for. I bought mine 3 years ago without playing it before hand, just went off looks. I was never disappointed, but as I become a better player, hearing more acoustics over the years, and playing more higher-end guitars, I see this is not quite at the top. BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE. its less than $600. One thing to note, the picture Musicfriend has posted of this guitar is the old version. The newer version is slightly different. The differences: -abalone rosette is a bit different -tuner heads -white binding is now turtoise binding -no buil-in tuner

My wife bought this guitar for me, cause she thought it was pretty...which it is, but pretty and Playability aren't the same. The electronics are not suited to the bodystyle and the neck and fretwork are really sub-par. All in all, I played (or tried to play) this guitar for about a year and basically just gave it away to a beginner guitar. It's cheap for a reason.

great guitar

By Jake-jUz.M

When I first saw this guitar all I could say was "BLING BLING". I mean look at it! It's a really pretty guitar. On top of that, it plays wonderfully. The sound and tone are great. The action isn't stiff and not too high off the fretboard. Sounds great plugged and unplugged.

Huge bang for the buck

By Hamm

I've had the RSE supreme for a year and a half and I'm still impressed. This guitar plays as well as ones twice as expensive. Its strengths are almost too numerous to list here. I think the most help to potential buyers would be to point out what I would call weaknesses when compared to say a Taylor, Martin or Gibson. Although the RSE has a solid spruce top, it's thicker and heavier than the ones on expensive guitars, thus the instrument is heavier and feels more tank-like. It also cuts down on the resonance. This is good when playing plugged, but straight acoustic it will have a more balanced blend of tone. Nothing particularly stands out. I also don't think this guitar is very forgiving on older strings. It sounds like a million bucks with a fresh set, but once they start to die, so does the tone. The rest of the "weaknesses" are mainly cosmetic. I don't really like the tortise binding around the body as you can't see it against the rosewood. It would be better for a maple guitar. The traditional white alongside the abalone like the original RSE Exotica would be more appealing. This guitar is also a bear to set intonation. Like most acoustics, you can't adjust the saddle on individual strings like you can on electrics. It has a compensating saddle, but on my guitar it only works if I keep my guitar set up a half step flat (and then about 25 cents back towards sharp)The Fishman pickup is simply stunning. You can tell right off the bat that Dean intended this to be a gigging guitar. Even with the aforementioned dead strings the guitar sounds simply amazing. (Even better with fresh strings!) It has a simple 3-band EQ and a brightness fader, so you can really brighten it up, or even cut the bright frequencies for better blend with a band or certain vocal types. Its simplicity does not offset its versatility. In conclusion, if you find you want to buy a $1500+ guitar but don't have that much money, give the RSE a serious look before you buy anything else.

Quite blown away

By Tamabama

Quite simply looking for a gigging acoustic to play out and this beat out Taylors costing twice as much.Acoustic tone is peculiar thing and I have like a nice full articulated sound. Cannot stand guitars that sound like banjos nor bass that is all boomy and undefined. The top end is full with a shimmer, the bass is well articulated with each not sounding nicely.Gigged it and very pleased.

If your guitar playing sucks...

By Anonymous

If your guitar playing ability is a litlle lacking like mine, this is a great guitar for you! I'm telling you, somehow this guitar is different than any other guitar I've played. Easy and forgiving with beautiful sound. I don't get it, but it was like magic for me. It offers hope and makes bad players sound pretty darn good.

This is one amazing guitar

By MamalovesDean

from Boston, MA

I bought this guitar used and like my other Deans, I'm so pleased. The tone is rich and full and plays like a million bucks. It's a bit big for me but still easy to play. It's also the most beautiful acoustic I've ever seen!

Superb

By Paul Schondra

from Hackettstown, New Jersey

I had a Guild guitar previously to this one. The sound was great. It was an old one. about 40 years old, but the sound was "WOW". The I purchased this ERES Dean and with the elixir strings that came with it could not beleive the superior sound that came from it. The price was very reasonable, too. I am beyond very pleased withthe sound and construction of this instrument.By the way, it is used with the worship team at our local church and has been a very positive addition to the team.
