When researching my guitar selection I wanted something made of quality materials and that looked great. The Dean Key Largo satisfied both. Similar materials and hardware components are what you'll find in American made instruments two to three times the cost. The mini-jumbo body, though very lightweight and comfortable to hold and play, has a brighter sound without the depth and richness you'll typically get from a larger body. But when amplified it sounds as good as any of the 'best'. The sustain is impressive. The playability out of the box was good enough to use as is. The label says 'handcrafted' and the workmanship is very good. A music store owner I know said that a lot of good equipment is coming out of Korea these days and are a great value (price/performance). This one is no exception.

I just bought this guitar june 2005 it's a beauiful and interesting guitar. These guitars need work right out from the factory. Dean needs to wake up and realize that the Korens are screwing them up. The strings are way too high and the blue painted finished needs attention to detail very thin paint. The frets are uneven causing buzz up and down the the neck. If you buy this you need to take it to a guitar specialist to be reworked. I did this and the guitar plays outstanding. Before it was reworked I was going to throw it out the door!! But now its a outstanding acoustic guitar. So I suggest everyone contact Dean to tell them to watch for quality control. But please buy it! and spend a little to get it reworked its worth the money that I payed. This was a Honest Review with no disrespect to Dean Guitar Company, sign Greg Butler

Would like to play someone else's to see how it sounds compared to mine. But, love the look of this guitar, a piece of art.
Nice electronics by fishman
Beautiful to look at, just gorgeous. As pretty as they get. But was very difficult to play when I received it. Correspondence with the manufacturer was difficult. I finally spent a fair amount to have it set up at a local music store after it sat around on a guitar stand for a couple months. Although it was a great improvement, the action is still a bit difficult, and it sounds real "tinnie" to me. I love how it looks so much, I'll never sell it and hope over time the playing improves.
10 on appearance. 9 on electronics. 5 on how it originally played, but better after I spent extra money to have reset.

This guitar has literally given me 100's of gigs, 1000's of practices and millions of great memories. I have worn the frets down to almost nothing. Thus I am shopping for another one. They are tough to find. The sound from that fishman pickup is as good as ANY and i really mean as ANY high end acoustic guitar you can name. If you find one--BUY IT.

Dottie

By Dottie

Even though I have never owned a realy expensive guitar, I have played a few that belong to friends. This is by far the nicest guitar I have ever put in my hands. The pictures don't even begin to do it justice. The quality is every bit as good as any Martin or Fender on the market and it looks twice as nice.

This guitar is perfect for ANYONE it is worth every cent. I own this guitar and I couldn't be happier. The inlays are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I love the dolphins, and the palm trees. You may say its pretty expensive but let me tell you, you will NOT be dissipointed. You will love it. If you are deciding between this guitar and any others then I would suggest this guitar, it has great features such as inlays. It has great quality for example ive had mine for 2 years and its yet to fail me. It also has great value. This means that you'll NEVER lose any money off of buying this guitar so why not make it yours.

a Beautiful Guitar

I just recieved my Dean Key Largo today.Right out of the box it is very playable. The action is finger friendly and the di addaro strings are good. However if you do not like a light gauge string I suggest changing to a medium. This guitar not only sounds good but it also is a beauty to see.IT has a very nice finish and the sea scape theme on the neck and the dolphins around the sound hole make for several oohs and ahhs from people who see it .

Richness of Sound is Missing

By Images

from Hampton, VA

The product has a ok sound, I expected a fuller sound than what it provides. The setup of the guitar out of the box was below standards. The guitar had to go to a Guitar Tech to adjust. The finish on the sound board has numerous bubbles. The guitar looks ok expect for the bubbles. This is guitar ok for a beginner. Anyone with experience may dislike the sound.

I bought this guitar about a month ago and I have to say it is a beautiful guitar. Although it is pretty, it does not perform as well as I had hoped unplugged. It sounds excellent plugged in but unplugged performance disappointed me. It is beautiful.

I've Played Taylors and Gibsons and Martins that didn't even come close to the Feel of this guitar. I have had it for about 2 years, and have written many songss on it. It plays like a dream, unplugged or with an amp. This one and the Zen, play the same, but the Zen looks too plain, I can't play without the Inlaid Fretboard Now.
