This guitar totally exceeded my expectations and then some. I was financially downsizing and got rid of my Dean Deceiver FM Trans Blue with EMGs and bought this Schenker on the hope that it might get somewhere in the same state of tone that my Deceiver had. It blows my Deceiver away. First is tone. I'm making an educated guess that the pickups are import versions of Schenker's own DMT USA Lights Out Pickups since it's made in the same factory as the Schenker Retro. They also have that classic Schenker ceramic magnet sound. Both pickups roar like a lion but clean up well. I can't say enough about these DMT Pickups, unless you play Death Metal, they are awesome. On high gain they roar, but also manage to sustain single note and chord articulation perfectly as well as have a great deal of sustain in general. The tone knob is the hidden hero here. I normally just turn my tone to ten forget about it, not here. You can get most any sound you want out your guitar by just adjusting the tone knob and leaving your amp at your favorite setting. The tone knob is very sensitive and captures a dynamic range of difference. Second is appearance. Nothing special, standard Michael Schenker black and white color scheme with a traditional Dean V headstock which I love but that's personal preference. It feels well constructed and solid. Lastly is playability. Awesome neck and fretboard. It has a super modern C shaped neck, almost bordering on a D shape. Very fast. The fretboard is nice and flat with 22 extra jumbo frets that bend like crazy. As with all V shaped guitars you have complete access to the full 22 frets. I can totally understand now how come this guitar has gotten such great reviews. But I'm not sure about the people that want to change the pickups out. The set of EMGs in the guitar I got rid of cost almost as much as this guitar and don't sound near as good. As with every new guitar I get I always take them to a guitar shop for a full set up.

First I will go ahead and knock out the cons. Cons - Biggest to Smallest (Construction>Pick Ups) Basically the guitars neck plays like most of the deans, Incredibility!! These things play very fast but as a player you have enough in your hands for it not to feel like your walking on air. You can tell though that the body cuts and neck wood cuts aren't pressed for perfection. Other than that it seems alright. Also the Pick Ups are standard wound pick ups. You can expect the same from EVERY guitar companies standard pick ups. PROS - B - S (Value>Playability) For the Price these guitars are amazing. I Would suggest ANY dean. This looks like a really pretty guitar if you are cosmetically appreciative. Also it again plays really fast while having some grip and give in your hands. It has such things as grover tuners and the scale is really good for me personally. I think engineering wise it has the perfect feel for myself as far as fret distance. I am a HUGE FAN and will keep these in my studio from now on.

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

Alright, first off I want to say that I would recommend this guitar in a heatbeat! Its distortion is fantastick, it's clean sound isn't amazing but it's still great, it feels awesome, and, let's face it, who wouldn't feel like a bad boy with this beast in their hands? It works great for recording as well as live playing, and, using 11 gauge strings, I can play as low as drop B tuning and keep a solid, controlled sound. Great for metal, rock, and pretty much anything else you want!

      Great Guitar!

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

You cant beat this guitar for the price! Great sound and play ability, nice action and weight. The pickup even sound great, the over all finish isnt to bad either. I have the Schenker retro also and this bolt on neck cheaper version actualy plays and sounds better that the more costly version. Great guitar for the money, you cabt go wrong with this one! get it!

This Guitar Is Okay At Best

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

I recieved this guitar for christmas a year ago and at first i thought it was cool looking. As I started to play I instantly realized how much bigger than normal guitars it is. Neck is a little thick to me and it is kind of bulky. If you play softer types of music this guitar is ideal but if you play metal it isnt the best

      Good Value

      By

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar in my local music shop and was shocked to see the price tag. I own and have played lots of Dean guitars. They're reliable and always affordable. I've often said I'd take a $500 Dean over a $900 Gibson. This particular one was $299 and is in that same value. The pickups are open and kind of airy. Great punch and sustain. With distortion it sounds nice but you might not pull off harmonics as easy with this because the presence doesn't quite match the amount of output. Very slim fast neck. Higher action than I'm used to but still very comfortable or changeable to your liking. I'd recomend this guitar to beginners or to anyone looking for an affordable 2nd guitar.

      oh, it was the neck

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

This was my first electric guitar and before that I was always playing on an acoustic guitar and when to the store to finally go and get me an electric and having never owned an electric guitar before I didn't even think of checking the pickups or the neck or even the bridge. But after messing around withit alot I figured out that I to get a neck set I order to get rid of the fret buzz but overall it isn't a half bad guitar.

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

It's a great gig guitar. I have a Epi Les Paul, which is a heavy burden. This guitar looks beautiful, everyone adores it in public. It's mainly for looks, sounds pretty good. But overall well worth the $

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

I have the Gibson version of this, and its good, a little big, and the white part of the finish is way too creamy. I've changed the pickups to EMG 81 in the bridge and a EMG 85 in the neck so its pretty good now! I do not reccomend thisfor begginners, but for giggers this is ideal, especially if you want something real flashy.
