The Dean Natural Series Florentine Cutaway 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Aphex comes ready for the studio or stage with some exciting electronics from DWC. The onboard Aural Excitier and Big bottom Circuitry combine to offer you studio-quality enhancement of your guitar sound whenever and wherever you plug in.
The dreadnought size body has a Solid sitka spruce top with a choice of tonewoods for the back and sides. Its set mahogany neck has a comfortable C shape and an ebony fingerboard with abalone dot inlays. A Graph Tech nut & saddle and Grover tuners help keep things smoothly in tune. Visual appointments include black hardware and herringbone binding.
Aural Exciter
This is the real and original Aural Exciter especially optimized for musical instruments. It can variously be described as adding “air”, “bite”, “definition” or clarity to the sound by interactively creating and manipulating the harmonics of sound waves. It increases tonal range and expression, whether running clean or overdriven, adding power and attack without increasing output level.
Big Bottom
For acoustic instruments it adds a warmer tone that makes the instrument sound rich. It’s not a synthesizer. It takes what is there and enhances it. Bass frequencies are richer, deeper and more articulate and the emotional impact of your instrument’s tone is highlighted.

I've tried a lot of Dean's acoustic-electrics, and while I've enjoyed them all, none of them stack up to the Natural Series Florentine Cutaway. It has a full-bodied sound with a gorgeous finish (I don't have the black one, by the way), and with a very minimal setup, it both sounded and played great. It has a rich, full sound, which balances well if you use a harder pick for a brighter attack. The action of course will vary depending on how you get it set up, but even out of the box, it was nice and even. It sounds even better unplugged than it does plugged-in, but that doesn't mean the electronics aren't good. The Aphex electronics do their job, and the on-board tuner is among the most accurate I've used. One nitpick: the strap pin comes out really easily, particularly with the leather strap I use. It's essentially a bridge pin from an acoustic bass minus the slot for the strings, and you have to really make it grip to stay in.
