Comments about Dean Performer Koa Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Aphex:

This guitar was a gift from my wife to add to my professional playing arsenal... It has now become the only guitar that I use in my arsenal. Right out of the box I noticed that it had 2 output jacks...one standard and the other an XLR....I also noticed the sound was more bolder then the original Dean performer... and once I plugged it in, I was thoroughly impressed. I play it through my PA system and the Aphex enhancement really opens up the sound nicely.... The only drawback: Personally I think if you spend over three hundred and fifty on a guitar they could at least give you a gig bag. But all in all a great guitar....lightweight, great action and the Koa wood looks beautiful. I highly recommend this guitar. It is an exquisite instrument.

Comments about Dean Performer Koa Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Aphex:

This is not for beginners, it doesn't have the classic sound of spruce, of course, and is rather low volume and dull when not plugged in, though finger pickers may love the subdued tone.
Plugged in though, the treble comes back and it shines with beefy fullness, plenty of treble, and a crisp bottom end! The strings are rather crunchy sounding at first, but a couple of hours of playing makes them settle in and sound much better.
The Aphex adds a real nice top sparkle, and fat bottom, that enhances nicely if your the only player, but might be too much when playing with others.
It sounded great on both chords, and bluesy leads, but you might have to adjust your playing style a little to suit the instrument. (I used a vox15 on half wattage clean thru a 12, probably better would be a PA line in)
It was also great on slide, being semi-damped right out of the gate. Sorry, didn't try open turnings.
My only defect was a noisy volume slider, but a shot of Deoxit5 cured it instantly.
I also didn't like the tuner much, and preferred to use my own.
Otherwise, it arrived flawless, is quite beautiful!!, and once the strings lose their crunch, śounds great. It'll probably never make it into the case!
