Solid Buy

Features:

The locking nut works great and i haven't had problems getting out of tune dispite really playing it in and experimenting with the floyd rose.  the wammy bar feels solid and stays loose so you can crank it up or pull it away from the pickups and go down with it.  the shape is what gets me with this thing.  you can have comfort from a good range of positions.  I typically play standing up and you can have the V on your knee and play more upright or keep the neck horizontal like you see most guitarists.  This guitar is kind of on the large end, so make sure you put one on and feel if you think it's dwarfing you.   volume knobs for each pickup independently are nice and feel good and move solid.

Quality:

I got this thing out of the box and had no problems with the action and string buzz....it sounded great right after a tune up.  It's my third guitar after a learner and a pawn shop find.  I knew i wanted something a little more durable because at this point i am overplaying the other guitars i had and have not been let down.  pickups sound good....not great..but you're not paying crazy prices here either...i get more noise from the effects pedals than the guitar.

Value:

I think this is a great price point for decent equipment.

Overall:

The case it comes with would be better as a hard case, but it's a solid case for a custom shape which is greatly appreciated as a throw in.  the cables that come with it are on the cheap end and i didn't even bother to try them cause i got the same crap cables from my Dean Bass.  The biggest knock on this thing is probably it's size, but i feel quite comfortable with it and it only takes a few sessions walking around with it before you realize you should be more mindful of it's length.  You can really play this thing in and not have to worry about coming out of tune.  String bends to the max and yanking on the floyd rose doesn't seem to have much impact on it.  the locking nut makes it so you dont' have to worry too much about string gauge either...which is nice if you experiment with heavier gauges.

I Bought this guitar a month and a half ago and i have had nothing but troubles with it. If you had a money back return policy i would have sent my guitar back 1st day. issues are as follows: 1st: got chipped and re-finished over top! 2nd: the nut was not properly placed on the neck so ther is a creek when using trem 3rd: the pickups are no where close to what should be presented in tone as a dime guitar 4th: the trem is CHEAP(floyd rose "special"! strings pop out daily and need to be changed becasue it shred the ends. 5th: not a clean tone coming from the guitar itself (unamped) it buzzes even with the highest of actions or perfect leveling of the trem 6th: the neck feels like something id cut off the tree in my backyard. my opinion is that if you are going to fulfill your dream of owning a beautiful piece of work like a razorback I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ONE. Spend more money on your purchase becasue dean seems to cheaply slander dimes name onto pieces of wood with strings attached if your not willing to pay $2500.

Great Deal, Needs Work

I got this guitar as a graduation gift, and I had been dreaming of getting a Razorback for a long time. Dime was a huge influence on my music, but I really must admit that this guitar needed work. First, the pick-ups needed to be changed. There was a terrible grounding issue with them so they produced a nasty buzz when I wasn't touching it. I put the EMG HZ (passive 81 and 85) pick-ups in and now the tone is amazing. The action on it is phenomenal considering the price, but the Floyd Rose needed to be changed. Yes, it held for some time, but after about 3 months it started to deteriorate and slip. All in all, a great guitar for the price, just replace the pickups and tremolo.

this thing is one of if not the most comfortable guitars ive played. i was raised on a warlock, so i'm used to the "x" shape, but this one takes it to a new level so to speak. im a big dime fan, and i think he would be proud of this model. (now if only dean would stop whoring his name onto everything they have.) the pups are awesome, but being into the dime thing, i yanked em out, and put in the bill lawrence and seymour 59. killer as can be. the floyd stays tight, as long as you know what youre doing when you set it up. dean did another one right. plug into a line 6 spider 4 and off you go.
