OVERVIEW

One of Dimebag' final designs.

The Dean Razorback V 255 electric guitar features a mahogany neck and body and a rosewood fretboard. The V-shape neck has a strong, set joint and a 1-5/8" nut. Grover tuners and a locking tremolo keep you in perfect tune while you divebomb the night away. 24 fast frets facilitate wicked, shredding solos and lightning quick chord changes. The EMG pickups provide plenty of excellent tone. 3-way switching, volume and tone control keep things simple, yet tonally flexible, and with tons of presence.

Being a Dean guitar, the Razorback V 255 looks as good as it sounds. Dangerous-looking edges are highlighted by color-contrast bevels on the body and outlines on the famous Dean headstock. V inlays with Dime's razorblade at the twelfth fret plus all black hardware make this guitar wickedly stunning.

Dimebag Darrell Abbott's return to Dean Guitars was one of the many things cut far too short by his death near the end of 2004, but his many drawings and ideas have kept the guitar makers at Dean inspired. These Razorback V 255s were some of Darrell's final designs, and we're sure they will inspire you, too!

Sick combo

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

So, I had been looking for both a new amp, and a new guitar. My buddy had convinced me I needed a tube amp, which I agree'd, except for the price, then I found the Peavey Valveking 112 combo. Cheap, for a tube amp, and I have always prefered Peavey. So that came in the mail a week later, plugged in my Epi-SG 1966 reissue, sounded better than before, went and got my BC Rich Perfect 10 Bich, played for a while, sounded great, but I still needed a little more. Both guitars have stock pickups, and have use for their own styles, but I wanted something Metal. I knew I wanted EMG 81/85's, for the reputation and sound. I had been looking at the Epiphone SG Prophecy, since I am an Epi-fan for the price they're awesome guitars, after about a week of deciding, I went with this, the same day the price dropped on the silverburst, so I ordered without hesitation. When it showed up, I didn't really know what to expect... very balanced. Good custom fit case. The headstock at first was large to say the least, but I've gotten over that. Stays in tune VERY well, and with a tube amp just use the fine tuning pegs while your amp is warming up. It is however, a pain to drop the tuning to drop D/C due to the locking system at the top. When I first plugged it in, I was amazed at the distortion (Lead channel built into the amp, haven't had a need to plug in any of my pedals since I got it), but wasn't too impressed with the clean sound. After a few days, I hit the magical spot and it sounds just as good as any of my other guitars do clean, if not better. I play alot of Ska music, and this guitar sounds awesome for it. The Pick up selector does wonders, for heavy palm muting, go with the neck, solo's with both, or the bridge depending on what you want, and everything else both or neck. Well worth the money, though I'm worried about putting my Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings on it, from what I've heard they aren't so great with floating bridges.

ive had the exposion version of this guitar for about a year i havnt had a single problem with it. it takes a little getting used to the shape of the neck. Mine has the EMG pickup set in it and i love them, if your a sloppy player then i wouldnt recommend the EMG'S cause they pickup everything you do. very well blanced and has a fast neck! recommend this guitar to anyone from beginner to professionals. plus its a DIME guitar and i love his playing

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

Ok so out of the box I noticed that my bridge pickup was slanted so i ignored it.when i actually plugged it in i was dissapointed that the dimebucker i was excited about wasn't what i expected. the tone was muddy and just bad in my taste because i tried everything. Different settings, eq pedal different strings.Another thing was I swapped out the dean pickups for Emgs 81/85fixed that problembut when i put ernie ball super slinkies on the bridge fell back which i fixed but the spring clamp petrudes now so i cannot put the back panel onAlthough the guitar is lightweight and its playability is stupendous. Wayy more comfortable tha my Ltd m1000 or my rhoads vGreat guitar just needs work

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

Speaking from experience, I know that sometimes a guitar design doesn't sell as well as anticapated, and far more are produced than bought. I am 100% sure this is the case here. If you are looking for the holy grail of guitars, this is your opportunity. The price they are asking is far below what one would normaly pay for this level of quality. This is one of the most solid guitars I have ever played.

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

This is one MEAN guitar. The pickups are what I'd desctibe as angry and aggressive. Perfect guitar for metal, hard rock, even blues if you want to add some bite. Smooth, fast neck that just screams to be shredded on (if only I could!) You will NOT be disappointed.

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

I just got mine in a few days ago. Shipping was way fast. I put a new set of strings on it right away, and I haven't had to tune it again yet. It sounds great with the emg's. It was in almost new condition, I couldn't even tell that it had been used. Best of all it came with a fitted case. It is an unbeatable deal. It also has a little trap door in the back where the 9 volt goes. The only thing that I think could improve is the neck thickness. I have played mostly Jacksons, so I am used to a thin neck. It was hard to play it at first. Other than that, it's great.

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

I just got this guitar & i love it, feels great in my hands, I've read comments that say the guitar is heavy, actually I disagree. The balance is also great. Do not go for the cheapened version you can find the more expensive one not used for less then what these big retailers are selling them for in other words shop around. The emg's are just amazing fat and clean, the hardware is consistent with USA models. I play it through a Line 6 Spider 3 for practice and through a first gen EVH 5150 full stack when jamming with the guys, it roars when ya turn it to 11 :) you will not regret the purchase if you get one, so what are you waiting for?

        from Detroit Lakes, MN

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

This is honestly the best guitar ive ever played/owned. Ive owned Gibsons, Esps, Other Deans, Jacksons, Fenders, Pretty much any brand you can think of, and out of all of them this guitar is my favorite to play. The neck is amazingly smooth, The pickups are amazing, of course when arnt emgs amazing? lol. The body is comfortable for all positions. The graphic is killer. Perfect sound is the main thing. I play through a dimebag distortions pedal and a marshall half stack and it is the best setup ever.Bottom line is if you buy this guitar, you will want to buy another. R.I.P Dime

        Great Playability

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar 2 weeks ago and it arrived last week I played it for 3 days wich were 3 great days, I sent it back because i noticed two chips out of it after i got looking at it. I cant wait for the other one to show back up . This guitar has a fast slipery neck and the LFO is actually great even though ive heard bad things about them. The explosion graphic is pixel but i think its awsome. And the Emg 81/85 combo is always great. other than the cosmetic flaws in mine I was overwelmed by the sound and playability wich were flawless. Cant wait for the replacement. THX Dean For a great Guitar

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

Let me begin by saying that I've admired this guitar since it came out, and with a Floyd Rose, EMG's, and the sheer playability of the guitar, I was not disappointed. Every feature of the guitar I found smooth and manageable. Excellent neck, beautiful design, great guitar.However...what is a review without explaining the drawbacks, no matter how trivial. The black hardware has been steadily turning silver from where my hand touches the bridge while playing. It seems as though the oil of my skin is wiping away the black coating, same on the trem bar. As I said, trivial, but it must be stated.

this guitar is amazing. its a lot different feeling than the other dimebag guitars, but in a good way. the neck fells very good in your hand, and its very fast, the pickups have monster gain, and this guitar is setup for speed. one thing i do have to add is the explosion looks much better in person than it does on a sceen. this is a great guitar, hands down.

This is a great guitar, The active emgs are great, Zak's pick ups on a dimebag guitar. I am soon on my way to buy this guitar, I can't wait to plug this baby in to my mesa boogie triple rec. half stack. This is a great guitar for the money, no complaints. if you looking for a killer guitar to shred on then buy this guitar.

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

I was worried about buying a guitar online without getting to play it first, but after getting this thing and pluging it in, my worries disapeared very quickly. This thing is a beast. I have a peavy vyper75 that I wasnt to sure about untill I played this guitar through it. Man those emg picks are freakin awsome. I get a massive cruch and can get a really nice clean sound also. (Thanks to this guitar) the neck is really comfortable and the tremolo was a nice supprise. I tried to knock this thing out of tune with the tremolo and it just kept going back in tune. Not what I was expecting from a "licensed floyd rose". The neck is fast, the paint is beautiful, the pickups are the best I've ever used and the balance of the guitar is really nice for a v style body. The headstock is pretty big, but I'm sure that was for balance purposes. The grover tuners are so smooth and precise that it makes you want to keep changing the tuning, just to feel the smoothness of these things. If your looking for a metal guitar, this is the last one you need to look at...buy it, and you wont regret it. You'll only wonder how you went so long without it.

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a little over a month ago. In that time, I have changed strings once every week. And once I tune it, it will stay that way until I change it... The lic Rose is ten times better than everybody says it is. The only thing I didn't like about the Floyd is that it doesn't have as much range as my Alexi600, but it's still bada**.The EMGs are just amazing. I have played SDBlackouts, Dimarzio Evolutions, Duncan Jazz and DuncanInvaders, and these are my favorite by far. The EMG 81 provides the mean tone needed for metal and rock, and the EMG 81 is just amazing for shred and even, I was suprised with this, clean settings. I find myself playing on a clean tone with this alot because it sounds so great. I love the EMGs. ALSO I've only had to change the 9V battery once, which is really good considering I play 4-7 hours every day.The neck is amazing. 24 frets, it's sunk into the body really far so I don't find myself reaching over the strings to play...it is very comfortable. The access to the 24th is a bit hard to hit, though, but it's manageable. Just different from my Alexi600 w/the cutaway. The inlays are sick. Haha a few people I know actually thought it was a real razor on the 12th fret! The neck is great. Fast, smooth, semi-shallow. I love this, too.Grover tuners stay in tune so well. ALTHOUGH it doesn't really matter because the LFR and locking nut keeps it in tune.A pickup selector switch, which is actually kinda a pain to reach for w/the way the tremelo bar is placed. But once again, I've gotten used to it!One volume, one tonal.... etc. Tracktion knobs are great while playing live... haha dayum sweaty fingers! The input kinda sucks...I don't like where it's at because I always beang the s*** out of it on stuff. I try to be careful...but I always manage to hit it. :(My biggest issue is the weight. It is a heavy guitar. It provides the tone, but still, it hurt my back the first 2 weeks.!I got the Yellow/Black bevels and it is amazing. I love this guitar.

After several months of saving, i ordered this badboy, and it was so worth the f'n wait. not only is this the sickest guitar ive ever seen, but it shreds. i love the v shaped neck and the floyd rose never comes out of tune. I feel like a super hero when im holding this thing. My only complaint is that it only came with 3 springs in the floyd rose and i had to buy another to accomidate heavier strings.

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

I like Dean guitars. For years they have made radical guitars for good prices. The Razorback V 255 is no exception. I played the black and yellow version, and loved it. The licensed Floyd Rose could use a swapping for and original one, but other than that, this guitar is perfect. The EMGs are my favorite pickups, so it is no surprise I think they sound great. The shape is killer. The neck is fast and easy to sweep on. The fingerboard feels good. I think that's all there is to it. It's a good guitar, and it carries on Dean's reputation for making quality guitars.

Comments about Dean Razorback V 255 Electric Guitar:

I just purchased this guitar 2 weeks ago. I never owned a V style guitar, but once I straped it on my shoulders it just felt right. The neck is very nice, its made to just rip out those solos. The pickups are awsome. I already have EMG 81's and 85's in my ESP F250 and Gibson Les Paul guitars, I can't imagine playing any other pickups. The Floyd Rose is awsome, you can do all the squeels with it in a matter of seconds. The last thing is the finish on the guitar. I got the explosion finish, it is trully stunning. I want to thank Dime and the guys at Dean for creating a guitar that will trully stand the test of time. ROCK ON!!!
