Comments about Dean Signature Series Dime Razorback DB Floyd Electric Guitar:

I already own a Dean bolt and could not be more happy with it. I got this guitar cause hey I just wanted another guitar and this one had looks to die for. However the sound was not. Hooked it up to the same amp and settings as my Bolt and it sounded really horrible.Played around with my amp and just could not find anything to help it out.It really did sound like a 99.99 beginners guitar.I replaced the Bridge pickup with a Dimebucker from Seymore Duncan and it made all the difference in the world. It sounded like you would expect from a Dean Dime tribute guitar. The guitar tech that replaced the pickup even said that the stock pickup sounded really bad I am happy with how it plays and sounds now but I should have never had to replace the pickup in the first place.

Comments about Dean Signature Series Dime Razorback DB Floyd Electric Guitar:

I bought one of these factory restocks because of the price and i wanted to try a dean. For the most part im pretty happy. It said it would only come with a gigbag but its a hard case with a fabric zip up cover . Very impressed with this. came with all the stuff i needed . Allan wrenches , the bar , a strap ...although the strap was cheap and had these dog chain type plastic locks that are not made for guitars ( i broke one haha ). Although im not really into the bumblebee firefly look, when i opened the case it was quite impressive . Always nice to look at something that makes a statement .It looks wicked and is well balanced. Thats part of the reason i bought it . I like explorer type guitars for the balance and upper fret access , but im not into cheap explorers without a floyd.

The first " flaw " which isnt really a flaw to me because i have thin fingers is, the frets are NOT jumbo. At all. They are almost like old gibson fretless wonders .Not super narrow but small. They are not even close to a dunlop 6150 fret. So if you like big 6150 or bigger frets , you wont like this. and its kind of miss advertised . But, i can shred on it because my fingers are like long skinny sticks !

The worst part which is to be expected is the electronics . They are so bad it gave me a good laugh. The bridge pickup is weak muddy . Probably the worst stock pup i have ever heard. Also the volume knob for the bridge pup is way screwed up . I think its a 250k to try and brighten the pup because it has very little volume control . Its either on or off , no real volume/gain control . The neck pup one isnt as bad but the neck pup is not great or even that good either. Im not upset by this, its expected. However there is also a ground problem . I get alot of buzz. I am replacing pickups anyways so all the electronics will be replaced. Will be very interesting to see whats going on in there .

One cool thing, i think the floyd is real steel even though it says " special

    Service and delivery comments:

Comment continued - i bet in china if they run out of something they just use what they have and it feels way more solid than a special. I probably got lucky .

So overall , im happy for the price of 279. If i paid full and got this , id be pretty unhappy . Although i am intrigued by this guitar and may try more deans in the future . Cool shapes and good feel go a long way !

Comments about Dean Signature Series Dime Razorback DB Floyd Electric Guitar:

This is not my first Dean, I have the Buddy Blaze ML and the yellow/black 2007 EMG Razorback V 255 ( The DBZ "Cell" style headstocks look cool). This Restock DB Firefly is not quite as good as them, but I'm glad I got it and love playing it -: it is well balanced which is good considering the large head, the "V" shaped neck is very comfortable to play, it came set up really well tho I lowered the action a little, fit and finish is perfect, feels very solid and sounds great for the Hard Rock/Blues/Metal/Jazz I play. I play very dynamically going from super clean to screaming wailing solos so the all around good sounding pickups it comes with work well for me. 24 frets would have been nice.
If you want a pure Metal Machine like my EMG Razorback V 255 or my EMG BC Rich Pro X Mockingbird or my EMG BC Rich ASM Pro, you may decide to change the bridge pickup to something hotter, but this guitar is so nice at it's price it is easily worth it, especially when it comes with a case designed exactly for it.
