I've owned this guitar for about 4 months. Note that I did replace the stock strings with 10-46 D'addarios since I am NOT a fan of anything thinner. The first thing I noticed upon getting it out of the box was the finish, the body is drop dead gorgeous. The finish on mine was redder than in the picture (an almost amber shade). The neck's satin finish is very fast and smooth. The frets are nice and level. This guitar was perfectly playable right out of the box.The tone is excellent. It's equally at home playing anything from The Eagles to Megadeath. The string-through body really does wonders for tone and sustain, as does the 3-piece mahogany body). The neck is quite thinner than the neck on my Mexican Fender Strat, this makes for a very fast and easy playing guitar. If you install straplocks, note that the stock strap button screws are pretty shallow and that there is some kind of wax on the neck screws/string ferrules (cotton swabs and microfiber cloths clean this off well enough). The only thing I wished they added to this guitar was a small microfiber cloth to allow for that great finish to really shine. Aside from that, this guitar IS the one I reccomend to anyone who asks me for a good starter guitar. It has it all.

This dean was my first guitar. Immediately after opening the box, I noticed that the tip of the head had the wood chipped off of it. Not a big deal (Adds Character right?). Rather than hassling our good friends at MF, I sucked it up and started playing. Out of the box, the dean was nearly in tune, and would hold one very well. About a month later, the 1/4" input jack started to short out. All and all, the throughbody design makes this guitar look clean and it plays well. The wood used in the stock is sub-par and electronics issues make me say that I cannot justify going with another low-mid end dean again.

its alright

Comments about Dean Vendetta 1 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is alright for the price. I had a problem with the neck. It sounded like it was cracking, the tuners were garbage and the frets were way too sharp. I sent the guitar to Deans custom shop in Florida where they do their warranty work. They replaced the neck and did a set up. I was mad because the neck that came with the guitar had colored inlays and the neck they put on doesnt and felt cheap. The frets on the new neck are as sharp as the other ones and the new tuners are just as crappy. Dean does not do good warranty work so keep that in mind if you have a problem. Maybe they do a better job if the guitar costs more, but I have no interest in buying another Dean because of this.

Epic Value

Comments about Dean Vendetta 1 Electric Guitar:

I traded an Ibanez AX1220 Prestige model guitar for the Dean. The Vendetta is just more suited for what I needed. It is lightweight, with a fast neck, and 24 frets. The tone is by far the best I have heard for this price. I write music for my metal band on this thing and we play in drop B, and I have to admit I am surprised by these cheap tuners that come stock so far. They only need to be tweaked every hour or so. At this price, you will not beat this guitar. Go ahead buy it, save some money and buy upgrades for it. You will not regret it!

You get what you pay for...

Comments about Dean Vendetta 1 Electric Guitar:

Where to begin? First, if you are considering purchasing this guitar, the finish in the picture is considerably darker than what you'll receive. Not a huge deal, but not what I was expecting. When I pulled the Vendetta 1 out of the box, I noticed minor imperfections and dings in the paint. That could just add to the character of this "Made In China" guitar. What disappointed me was that the neck had a "hump" that caused the strings to rattle against the frets when played. Once I got it into a more suitable condition, it has played very well, and sounds great. Overall, it's a nice enough guitar for what you'll pay for it.

Awesome

Comments about Dean Vendetta 1 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is absolutely amazing! I had the Vendetta XM, which was a piece of crap, but then i saw this one, and i thought it looked the same but like it was made better, like it wont break if i look at it the wrong way, so i sent the other one back because it was giving me problems and got this one, and i've had it almost a year now and it hasnt let me down. tone is great, clean and distorted. sustain is good on my boss mega distortion pedal, and it is the most comfortable guitar i have played. i also love how light it is. whether you are on a tight budget or not, this guitar is worth the buy. no need to buy replacement pickups, these sound great, but it would be unstoppable with some seymore duncans. :P it also works well with various styles of music, from classic rock to heavy metal, this guitar delivers. now i want to save up and get the vendetta 6.0 with the floyd rose. :)

say 'ello to my little friend

Comments about Dean Vendetta 1 Electric Guitar:

I have been looking for a low-priced show/backup axe, and I believe I've found the right one! After looking for months, I came across the Vendetta 1. This guitar is definitely worth the price offered. The stock pickups are fine for practice, and I would also recommend them for shows. They sound decent when playing clean, and they sound great distorted (I myself am a metal player). When used with a Line 6 amp -on the "insane" distortion setting, this little guy sounds heavy, with plenty of "attack". I highly recommend this product for someone on a budget!!! I was not disappointed...

Great Guitar

Comments about Dean Vendetta 1 Electric Guitar:

Well, lets see. I've owned this guitar for 5 years now and have played over 100 live shows with it. No doubt this thing has held up completely throughout the years. The only thing that it suffers from is the pickups could be better but what would you expect for 219? Overall this guitar is simply amazing, it will hold up through anything.

Surprising, high quality axe

By PignoseMan

from Connecticut

Comments about Dean Vendetta 1 Electric Guitar:

I have owned the Dean Vendetta 1 for just over a year and the more I play it, the more its versatility, quality, and tone surprise me. From the internet I gather that most people who play this guitar are beginners/novices interested in metal. I have been playing for about fifteen years, and trying to learn some jazz techniques to spruce up my blues and rock playing. Set the right way, run through the proper amp (e.g., a Vibro Champ, Super Champ or a Vox), this axe can churn out some pretty unique and gritty, Delta-influenced, as well as jazzy, tones. (I especially like the weird and gritty noises you can get when going through the humble Pignose). Very surprising. The neck is the highlight: coated in a sort of satin finish, it is immensely playable and very fast. Tuners are stock and do a tolerable job. The pups are also stock, and not bad at all for practice, garage jams, and bedroom strumming. Incidentally, the setup was pretty good, but I had to lower the action just a tad. This axe does *not* have to be a metal guitar. An excellent deal!
