It's a solid guitar for hard rock and metal. With two humbuckers, a floyd rose bridge, and coil splitting, there isn't much you can't do with this thing. It would be great if it had 2 volume and 2 tone controls like a gibson.

Well, I got this guitar a while earlier because I loved the finnish and Dean usually makes pretty decent guitars with plenty of treble response. Most of this was true, and it is still a solid workhorse. I don't really use it for much other than for cleans, despite Deans reputation as a metal brand.
The electronics are fine, and the neck plays well, but the DMTs are kind of weak. They have a lot of output, but practically no attitude. Sounds great with cleans, but no real snarl on distortion. If you trade out the pups, maybe for some DiMarzio Evolutions or something, it will improve greatly.
Overall, I think it is worth the money, given that you have a flamed maple top, floyd rose trem, and some good electronics. Just do it justice and change the pups!

Save your money for a real guitar, my sons 100 dollar squire strat sounds and plays better.
This guitar is a piece of junk, may look OK but it is not a players guitar.
Very poor neck and little sustain. The pick ups are probably the most valued thing on it. the rest is not worth getting into, just junk.
Cheap means cheap here. There is no way you can use this guitar for anything other than banging on it.

I loved the Floyd Rose system on this guitar, even though it was broken. Specifically, the knife edges had worn down, the intonation was all over, and the fine tuners were wrecked in every way. I can't stress enough the comfort and speed of the neck. Overall, an excellent buy.
Nice, unique sounding pickups, Floyd, excellent neck- the fr on the one I used was damaged, but still worked.
The one I played was used, and the Floyd rose had been improperly cared for and damaged. It still had a good range and feel, however. All other components worked very well, especially the pickups. They had a very interesting voicing that reminded me of DiMarzios. The tuners were awesome, and the neck was perfect.
This guitar did better than most standard Ibanezes I've played at the price range less. It cannot be beaten at this price range.

I bought this guitar to replace a super cheap box store special. I am still learning to play after more than ten years, and wanted something nicer to play with without breaking my wallet. So, I ordered one of these used. Unfortunately, the particular guitar I ordered was sold shortly before my order was processed, so Musician's Friend made good and sent me a new one. I can't speak highly enough of this vendor...they are the BEST!.Anyway, the guitar plays soooo much better than the Lyon I had. It does need a setup, and has a couple of slightly high frets, but all-in-all, I am HIGHLY pleased. The fit and finish is absolutely gorgeous, the neck is smooth and fast, the frets are comfortable, and the Floyd is awesome. It has a thin, C-shaped neck, which I find very nice, and definitely NOT cheap feeling like some have reported. The tone is VERY nice, and the coil tap works great. The knobs are metal, the tuners are a black chrome color, and after the strings settle, it hold tune for hours of bending and tremolo use.Now, I know it is not a multi-thousand dollar instrument. I know it is a "low-end" guitar. However, it really doesn't feel or sound like one. If you are considering this guitar, please give it a try. After all, you can always return it for something else if you don't like it...right? And one more thing...get it here. These guys are simply the best.

I bought this guitar 2 months ago...My other guitar is a 77 Ibanez Custom ...They are night and day from each other obviously...The Dean guitar has shocked me , as i never thought something so cheap could be so great ...Its beautiful and fun to play..I am a novice player since 77 ...But I have played my share of guitars ..This is a great novice guitar ,it cannot be beat for the value ..The Floyd tremlolo seals the deal/.I never write reviews but this one deserved it....If you are ready for your 2nd guitar go buy this baby....

I've had this guitar for a month now and i love it! a lot of people complain that the neck is too thin, but that's what a c shape neck is, thin. if you don't like thin necks you may want to consider another guitar but personally i love them! the guitar sounds amazing through my digitech rp90 multi-effects pedal. the stock pickups are good if your not a major tone seeker. but if you are, you are going to want to change the pickups (as you will with about any stock pickup), im considering putting a gfs power rail in the bridge position personally. the floyd rose special tremolo is great! (to my understanding it is just like the ofr except the saddles are zink instead of steel and the block is zink instead of brass) it will take a while to get set up and get floating properly, and you will have to tune it up a few time the first few weeks while the strings are still stretching out but after that is stays in tune great! i love this guitar and would highly recommend it!

I recieved this guitar in the summer, and the first thing i noticed was how nice the finish was. I own the transparent black version and WOW is this thing gorgeous. I also love how with dean they put grover tuners on their not too expensive instruments. The neck to me feels great, 24 frets to shred on. And really, the pickups TO ME are perfect, plenty of metal crunch coming from the bridge. Overall, i would say buy this guitar if you want a set of wings, im glad I did!
