    Revved up retro.

Designed to be flashy and versatile, the Mach IV electric guitar offers more than just eye appeal; it doles out a good variety of tones and boasts good workmanship. A flipped over body, sweet finish, pearloid and chrome components, and groovy racing stripes (except on the all-white model) make it look like a cross between a '50s dining set and a classic sports car. The star-shaped inlays match the pearloid overlays nicely. The solid stop tailpiece bridge is adjustable for intonation.

The construction is good, with a tight four-bolt neck joint and lustrous finish. The electronics assembly and components are solid, especially for an instrument in this price range. The tone controls and output jack are grounded via a metal-foil plate attached to the pickguard's underside, and the Mach IV is quiet.

Basic in its tone-shaping components -- a tone knobs, a volume knob, and pickup selector -- the Mach IV is surprisingly versatile. The neck-pickup is placed at an angle only about 3/8" away form the end of the slanted fingerboard, yielding a good variety of sounds. The Mach IV sounds slightly boxy with a prominent midrange and grinding top end. Blending pickups results in a full-bodied tone that works well in many styles.

The Mach IV is the perfect 'attitude guitar' for surf, punk, or just about anything that requires being noticed. Flashy? You bet. Good-sounding? That too. Make sure your chops and wardrobe are up to it, you're going to be in the spotlight.

Comments about DiPinto Mach IV Electric Guitar:

I got this one used but in excellent condition! When I first saw it I thought it's a kind of toy-guitar. But, after I tried it, this thing became guitar of my life. Actually, it was left handed so I just had to reverse it. In bridge position I had a Gibson P90 and after I put SD Hot Rails pickup. The sound was just fantastic with any of these. Top materials, high finish and decent guitar for almost any music style…

    Mach IV

    By James Anderson

Comments about DiPinto Mach IV Electric Guitar:

I have the blue Mach IV with the stop bridge. At one jam session it was called the Dodge Viper of electric guitars. It is indeed a very attractive guitar. The chrome came brightly polished and the paint and pearloid headstock and tuners are very clean. The shape of the guitar and the white binding with star inlays give it a very unique look. Like the first poster, I swapped out the stock bridge pickup with a Gibson '57 classic plus. It makes for a very nice combo with the single coil neck pickup. The guitar is on the heavy side, which I like. Always stays in tune. No dead spots. Its been worth every penny.

    Mach IV

Comments about DiPinto Mach IV Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for a year now. The cosmetics are spectacular. Chrome hardware, pearloid headstock and tuners, racing stripes, star inlays, and bound neck; all put together very well. The neck is easy to play, and it stays in tune very well. The pickups are decent, although the bridge pickup tends to squeal with the amp cranked. I swapped it out for a Gibson '57 Classic Plus and it sounds beautiful in every switch position. The angled bridge pickup is very close to the neck, which lets you get some funky tones out of it. Overall, this is a superb guitar for the price you pay.
