Amazing sounding guitar, you really get that vintage gibson humbucking sound especially through a great amp. Don't be fooled by mini-humbuckers, with the middle one on you get that full humbucker sound, with more versatility. Amazing feel, looks, sound. Tuners stay in tune for ever. Sounds great with distortion. From a pro who has played the gibson model, don't spend 4 times the amount, save and by a epiphone and a good amp and some nice effects. I can't say one bad thing about this guitar. Neck feels great, really smooth, long, jumbo frets, really really fast. It's just amazing, I can't get over the great sound, I'm coming from a fender strat standard, and this thing if I didn't know the price, I'd think it's much more costing then a strat. It's great you will definitely be satisfied, no matter what type of music you play. Sounds great when playing classic rock like the allmans, or the lead guitar on beatles. Sounds great when playing ska or really clean open position or barre chords. Also sounds great with blues, country or jazz. You can also get that really twangy sound like on a tele which is great for beatles rhythm guitar and such. You can get a slide sound with out using a slide piece. You can get any sound you want without effects. It's rediculous how versatile this guitar it is. I've played fender strats, teles, les pauls, sgs, prs's and nothing is comparable to this axe. This thing screams when you add a little gain or a lot of distortion. It's amazing what you get out of the three alcino-v's. You wont be sorry, buy it now. It's worth every penny of it.

Just got this guitar today. It was kind of hard to really get a feel of it because the fretboard had popped off of the neck all the way passed the 3rd fret. From what I could tell, the balance was way off as described in other reviews. The pick ups are surprisingly weak. Almost in the style of a cheap squire. I gambled and went below Gibson and paid for it.

I love it!

By rnoodle3

I've been playing all types of music, both lead & rhythm for over 30 years. I stuck with Gibson, Fender and Ibanez all the way. I read a lot of reviews on this guitar before taking the plunge. I am extremely impressed! Aside from being a little on the heavy side, it is very comfortable and lots of fun to play. I love it!

Short and sweet....this is a great axe and an even better deal than when I bought mine a year ago. I'm glad I got the sunburst before it was discontinued.Sound and workmanship on a par with Gibson.

ENCORE FOR MORE!

By Tazyman23

from North Carolina

One word, WOW! This baby can play about anything from blues, classic, or light metal. It can't get that death metal sound. The finish is sweet! I have the vintage sunburst. When someone glances at it they say somethiing about it. It's a beautiful, but heavy guitar so get straplocks. The only difference between this and the Gibson is just the hardware and logo at the top. The Maestro Vibrola Tailpiece is the bomb just wait for the strings to settle in after 2-3 days. This axe is a great bang for your buck. Epiphone Firebird Reissue 1963 VII Electric Guitar is a honor to play!

AMAZING

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

this guitar is great. it plays and looks like a dream. the whammy works well if you don't do anything crazy. the only problems ive had with it is it feels a lot different than a strat, and you can't play high pitched solos because the body gets in the way. once you find your way around that, this thing is AMAZING.

like a phoenix....

By OriaZeduu

from Chicanoo, OR

the firebird is a sweet sounding guitar in all of its many forms. p-90s, mini humbuckers [as shown on this specific model] or even full humbuckers for the stout-hearted. great tones, but my ONE complaint. the neck always falls to the floor. my left hand gets tired supporting the neck and it just doesn't balance as other gibsons/epiphones do.

I play practically every kind of music, I can be playing metal then switch to some zeppelin and this guitar follows right behind. I hear no difference in sound quality from this to the gibson version. this is the best guitar i've ever played in the price range.

Better for the blues

By Pricefire2002

from Brundidge, AL

This is not a bad axe, however, it is not one that I would recommend to anyone in the hard rock genre. It can produce a warm bluesy type sound, but it has virtually no gain whatsoever. The low end is just not there. The highs are okay but it's mostly loaded with midrange. Also, don't use the whammy bar unless you want it to go out of tune. In the right hands, with the right type of music, it sounds just fine. In the hands of a hard rock guitarist, it sounds like muddy water!

Firebird

By Spencer-U3hje

from Mequon, WI

I had this guitar for a year. It's extremely neck heavy and is very awkward to play with a strap. Also, it's shape makes it difficult to lean and doesn't fit on a stand. The minis sound very poor. I was upset with Epiphone. I traded it in for a Les Paul standard.

My 'Bird

I've had my Firebird three or four weeks now, and I am very pleased with it. Use of the whammy bar is not condusive to reliable tuning, but I knew this before I bought the guitar. Everything else about it is better than I expected. The tone, the cosmetics, the whole thing. Ive played Gibson Firebirds and do not see that they are better enough to justify the price difference. This instrument is a very good value for the cost.

Great Axe, great deal, great online store!

By Rob-Nuom_

After seeing the overwhelmingly positive reviews on this guitar, I decided to get one as a Christmas gift. I have owned a Gibson Explorer, Flying V, even an early 60s Les Paul original (SG shape) with vintage PAF Humbuckers. I can tell you with all honesty, that the PAFs were the only pickups that sounded as good as this axe. For versatile tone, only my Strat competes. I use a extra wide bass strap and it helps with the slight heaviness of the superb neck. I feel like this guitar was made for me. Thanks for making this purchase too good to pass up!

Greatest blues tone I've ever heard!!

By Randy-PN.zg

It weighs a ton... it is difficult to get used to... but if you don't give a **** about anything but how your guitar sounds, as we all should, this is the guitar for you. I've played everything from Strats to Les Pauls to Wolfgangs and pretty much anywhere in between, and this guitar has the bluesy sound of a Strat without all the nasty single coil hum and the cranking sound of a fat Les Paul bridge pickup. Tone, tone, tone!! Thanks to Epiphone and Gibson!!

I bought this guitar about 3 or 4 months ago, and I can't put it down. Opening the box, you will realize that it is absolutely beautiful. The Alcino minis give a great tone and good sound to a guitar that is good looking as well. Fingerprints and smudges are easy to see, but just a polish cloth fixed that problem easily. It is a little heavy like an explorer, but this can be expected because they have similar body types. I overall love this guitar, and recommend it to anyone looking for a great player.

One serious guitar

By Zac

One bad mother! I've owned one for several years and it is the only guitar i will play. The tone is incredible. Slap a set of 56-13 strings on it and jam away. For blues there is nothing better.
