Bought a used thinking it would have damage (I like a used looking guitar) it doesn't have a flaw but the pots cut out and bridge is messed up. (intonation can't be set) and strum it and CHEAP just leaps out at ya. Sorry Epi...I tried. Thats the first and last. The Gibson line I feel are price gouging....God I love FENDER! Thanks Leo.

This guitar has the bite u would expect from Epiphone. It does what it says for blues, rock, and mainly Jazz. Trust a Guy who been playing since the 3rd grade and going on 44 yrs of age this month. 3/27/69 is the big day. I know to me It feels it is the same as his Gibson expensive brother. I like the sound of this one 2 me better the stock pick ups r to me almost the same as the ones on his big bro. If a Jazz and blues bite is what u r after than this is a guitar to get that wont skies the limit your wallet, pocket or check book. The warm Jazz tone is Jazzy the blues tone is B.B. kingish some what. those sounds r depending u set your amp and effect petals. Over all I like it's sound a versatility. you Jazz and blues and rock lovers when you try before u buy think about that this is good 4 the money if you r not looking to spend 3 or 4 g's on the big bro. If you can afford it then buy all means I wash my hands of the whole point of getting this guitar. But if your on a budget like me then like I said is the one to get. good luck with your search I found mine.

I have a Koreain made DOT. Iv'e used it in musicals, cover bands, jazz, funk, blues, folk, grunge and haven't found a weakness yet.
If your looking at a do-it-all this be the one! Super warm tone one the neck pickup and you can make it cry on the bridge pickup.
Really great tone control.

You just can't beat the value here. This is a solid guitar for the money. When I got mine I had to lower the action, but I do that on far pricier guitars out of the box as well. The intonation was way off, but I was able to get it in line. The tone of the instrument is good and the pickups are pretty solid. The feel is solid and it's just down right fun to play. Pick one up and I gurantee you won't be dissapointed.

This is the best investment i have ever made. The semi-hoolow body shape works great for clean tones. The pickups dont give off the best crunch. I installed Seymour Duncan HB-102 pickups. After that, i can use this guitar from anything. In past concerts, I've used this guitar to play music from bands like, Metallica, Seether, Staind, ACDC, all the way to Green Day with this guitar on my Marshall MG 100 hfx half stack. All around, best guitar for anyone, beginner or professional.

DID NOT WANT TO SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY TO GET THE GIBSON 335(WAY OVERPRICED TODAY I FEEL) SO I DECIDED ON THE EPIPHONE DOT. I SEE AND HEAR THE DIFFERENCE IN TONE AND PICK UPS. HOWEVER I AM PLEASED WITH THIS GUITAR AT THE PRICE I PAID. ONLY PROBLEM WAS LACK OF PROPER SET UP AND ONCE I HAD THAT DONE IT PLAYED JUST FINE. PICK UPS I WILL CHANGE IN FUTURE AND I WILL THEN SEE IF I MADE THE CORRECT CHOICE OR SHOULD I HAVE INVESTED IN THE GIBSON WHICH AGAIN FOR ME ALREADY HAVING TWO GIBSON LES PAULS I FOUND THE GIBSON VERSION TOO OVERPRICED AS IN TODAY'S NAME BRAND GUITARS THAT ARE AVAILABLE. I SEE NO VALUE IN OVERPAYING FOR SOMETHING THAT UNLESS YOU ARE A PRO GIVES NO VALUE BACK JUST FOR THE SAKE OF SAYING I HAVE THIS OR THAT. I RECORDED WITH THIS GUITAR AND IT SOUNDED FINE , NO NOISE HEARD ON ITS TRACK, IN FACT NO ONE COULD TELL I USED AN INEXPENSIVE GUITAR ON THE TRACKS, RECORDING IT STOOD UP AGAINST MY LES PAUL'S, ALTHOUGH YES I HEARD THE DIFFERENCE. IN THE SCHEME OF THINGS NO ONE ELSE HEARD IT AND IT PLAYED FINE FOR ME. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS GUITAR JUST BECAUSE OF THE PRICE AND WHAT YOU GET, A GUITAR THAT PLAYS WELL AND GETS YOU INTO THE HOLLOW BODY ELECTRICS AT A FAIR PRICE. IT ALSO LOOKS FANTASTIC.

I have to agree with the reviewer who characterized this as the best value for your money. These are tough, resilient, and beautiful guitars that will produce whatever tones you're seeking. I've owned the standard Dot and traded it (mistake!), and subsequently scored a Dot studio. These can be left as is--with stock componentry--or, if you're a chop shopper, they make an AMAZING foundation for the guitar of your dreams. For a modest additional outlay, I turned one of these into a custom axe that is impossible for me to put down: Lollar Charlie Christian for humbucker neck/Imperial bridge pickups, flat wound 12's; I would challenge any 335 to sound as good as this one.

I have to sing the praises of Epiphone's stock pickups--of the two of these I've owned, both were excellent sounding guitars. The humbucker sets in both the standard and studio versions sound pretty terrific.

Another wonderful plus--the neck. It is thin and tall, giving the arpeggiator/jazzer a piano-like fretboard, if that makes sense...the fretting hand feels like it can go forever.

In many reviews of lower-priced guitars, I see criticisms of fret dressing, action, and the like; my assumption is always that out of the box, you will need to take this to a good luthier and have a good setup done. That said, I've yet to encounter a bad Epiphone out of the box, having owned a total of 4 at this point.

The Dot belongs at the top of my go-to axes, right next to Epi's 56 Gold Top.

I always wanted a 335 but having a few expensive guitars I didn't want to part with and a recent breakup this is all I could afford. I don't know how epiphone does it but they do. Just a slight over spray on the f holes is all I could find. Just needed my kind of strings otherwise great out of the case

I have a variety of guitars and I always wanted a good cross section of tones and sounds when playing.
I got this in the mail and I was suprised by the finish, the attention to detail, the playability out of the case. The pick-ups are perfect for what I play, classic rock. I have Strats for the Metal music and acoustics for ballad type of songs. this one covers all generes of music.
I must be the lucky one because what I have should be a Gibson, but why pay for the name when you can have the real thing for a whole lot less.
