After years of Strat playing, I want a second guitar for different sounds. There are few choices at any price for lefties, so first we thank Epi for making such a beautiful & affordable guitar. Pretty binding & well built.Playing it was less rewarding. The intonation's solid and the guitar is well-made, but the neck feels thick, the treble strings are louder than the bass (partly fixed by raising the bass side of the pickups, but the treble strings still respond much more), and neither pickup sounds warm or full ? it sounds OK through my tube amps but doesn't cut well in a full band. Other issues for me were weight (same as Strat, more than G-400), and string height over the pickups (higher than Strat or an acoustic). Note: The 24.75" scale comes with thicker 10-gauge strings (Fender's 25.5" scale comes with 9's), and the wide body makes for good belly-feel, like an acoustic. A beautiful starter at a reasonable price. Changing pickups down the line would be a huge improvement.

Bought guitar as test board for some experimental hardware. Flimsy, flexy neck to headstock transition - differs significantly from Gibsons in this regard. Top of fretboard and nut seriously out of parallel with frets - crooked - nearly 1/8 of an inch difference from one side of the nut to the other - required a difficult fix. Uneven finish on fretboard. Both pickups askew. I took mine down to bare wood and fixed everything except the flimsy neck to headstock transition (no easy fix). Unless you're going to do the same, look at something else.

The Epiphone Dot sounds so amazing! There are so many different sounds you can get from it. Whether you're playing jazz or metal, it sounds fantastic. And, it feels pretty nice too. I would definitely recommend this to any lefty looking for a fairly inexpensive, but good quality guitar.

The Epiphone Dot Semi-Hollow is about as beautiful as they come. As a hobbyist and a person studying blues music I have found this guitar to be a comfortable fit. I plug into a Marshall MG100DFX clean with just a little delay and a little reverb. The setup out of the box was perfect. Aside from tuning the guitar I made no adjustments. Since I have never owned or even played this model guitar before I did have to get used to the larger body. But that took about 5 minutes. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone who is looking and who might be 'on the fence'!
I am a heavy rock and punk rocker. When I first picked up this guitar, I was skeptical. The clean tone was amazing, so much so that I started playing Jazz lines and flipping blues licks. But don't be fooled, a stompbox will tell you that this guitar can deliver some good crunch. Added to my guitar collection it gives me a new sound for my cds. I used it very often and probably won't stop until I find another more versatile guitar...might be a long wait.
I have had this guitar for just over two months, and i love it. the cherry finish looks really great, and the versatality of the guitar is incredible. I installed some gibson dirty fingers on the bridge, but thats just me. i would recommend this guitar to anyone, for any genre....except maybe metal haha.
I've had this guitar for about two weeks now. When I removed it from the "EPI" case I bought with it I was really Impressed with the care and craftsmanship that went into this guitar. Perfect finish no poly buildup anywhere and nice neck transition. The low points are that the "E" fell off the pick guard in the first five minutes all four knobs were loose and on uneven, the toggle selector switch makes a popping sound when you switch pickups. The fretboard was dried out and the strings were rusty. All minor things. Within two hours all was corrected except for the toggle switch. I like the pickups and see no need to change them because I use a floor modeler to get all my ranges. I don't care where this guitar was made who ever did the work on this body took pride in their work. And who ever set it up dropped the ball. I wanted a natural or burst finish but only cherry was available for leftys and It's beautiful. Now go get one.
I'm from brazil and i bought one in cherry end. I reaaly like this guitar. the price is taste, great construction, easy to play. The only think i change was the pickups, they are not so good, principally the bridge one. I'm putting a gibson 57 pickups and every thing will be perfect. Great value. great buy.
I just got one of these and it is awesome. The quality of this instrument is fantastic. I have been a life long Les Paul and strat player and since I added this guitar to my collection I find myself going to the Dot everytime I want to plug in. The finish and binding are perfect. I was lucky enough to find one in ebony so I don't have the run of the mill Cherry finish that all lefty players are forced to buy. The stock pick ups have a lot more kick than I thought they would. I can play any type of music with this thing. I will say this guitar does not have the sustain that the Les Pauls do but that is the nature of a semi hollow. I would buy another in a heart beat and just may buy one with a cherry finish since I don't have one of those yet. Buy one you won't be sorry.

This is a beautiful guitar! I got it in the red finish and this thing is absolutely gorgeous! It was the FIRST guitar I have ever purchased that was set up perfectly right out of the box- all I had to do was tune it and I gigged with it that night and couldn't put it down. I play it through a Marshall AVT50 and couldn't be happier
