A great guitar for the money. I have about 46 guitars, everything from a First Act to a Martin, and this one gets a lot of playing time.
It's a workhorse. It's Simple, can take a beating, and cheap. It's a great backup guitar or great for gigs where alcohol and campfires could be involved - the kind places the Martin doesn't need to go to.
That said, I find myself using it as a number 1 guitar most of the time (except for recording.)
It sounds good through a Duncan Woody pop-in pickup too.
The sunburst (on mine, anyway) is A LOT darker than the picture. It's even darker than the traditional burst Gibson uses on a lot of guitars (J-45, etc.)
Keep the strings fresh. Once the strings go, the sound goes completely. Just a fact with laminate guitars. On the plus side, it won't warp or bow and it's virtually impossible to damage.
I don't really consider it a "beginner" instrument as some have said. It's really more of built-for-travel, take-a-beating, budget minded guitar.
P.S. as with all Epiphones, I love the old-school "e" logo on the pickguard. Timeless.

You can believe it when you play it======Smooth, clear easy to fret.
Reluctant to buy anything of lesser value these days so took a chance and bought the DR-100 vintage sunburst. As I have had my J-45 Gibson for yrs. and needed a drag around guitar to keep from damaging my prize J-45. In just a few days I got the Dr-100. Never have I been so pleased with a purchase. I started looking for flaws and shortcuts as most of us musicans do. LOL comes with the beast. I found nothing. So I tuned and started finger picking as I do with my other guitar. D-4 martin. Wow---Smooth and no rattles. The tone was sweet and clear. Neck board just right! Next I choose a song with lots of rough chords and strum. Picking flat in and out of the tune. No rattle. Now I am thinking there most be something. Nope. I bought the stand the picks the strap all for a great price. Setting the J-45 next to the Dr-100 and the build is almost exact. This is unheard of for the quality of the DR-100---Neck is like a fender mustang. Sound is like the J-45. Getting rid of my old war club--D-4 martin with it's spliced neck ---Folks this is a super made fitted guitar. I hope this review helps out. Great for beginners and Pro's alike. Even half-axx'ed as myself. KIM
The entire body was well place togerther. Extened head with tuner keys exact. Noticed the sound hole cut was perfect. Large and finished molding cut polished heavily. Full size strap connectors installed without blemish.
Value is unheard of these days.

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:
This is a good guitar. The tone is very good with a smooth low action. The fit and finish are excellent. I bought the one with the black finish and it just glows.
The only down side was the strings. The ones on the guitar when it came in were old and tarnished. It still sounded okay. After I changed the strings the sound went to very good.

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:
For the price, this is a great guitar. Nice finish, typical Epiphone attention to detail. Good for finger pickers or hard strumming. My guitar has a serious problem with buzzing on frets 9 thru 12. I hope some minor adjustments to saddle will solve the problem. That said I love this guitar. Since I plan to use it as a "beater" I can live with buzz on fret 12. (But not on fret 9)
This is a big guitar by all means. Fine for adults but probably a poor choice for a starter guitar for kids. Buy it for the kid....keep it for yourself. Hey...just sayin'

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:
Do not yet own this guitar but my son does. He's an accomplished musician and owns many guitars. Purchased this guitar to plink around on. Asked me to play it and see what I thought. Really enjoyed playing this instr. and what a great price. I play an Ibanez acoustic electric on stage and would not hesitate to mic this guitar and play it also. I have found nothing about it I don't like and will soon purchase one for myself..

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:
This is a nice guitar for travel or a first starter. The price is right and the quality of sound is that of other entry level guitars much higher in price. It has a beautiful finish, good looks and a pleasant rich sound so you won't be embarrassed to play it with other musicians. One feature that always plagues guitars of this value is a tendency for the notes to go sharp as you play up at the neck. I used an electric tuner and the twelfth fret of each string was exactly in tune compared with the open strings. (There is nothing worse than a guitar that can never "play" in tune. And, I have found and played many that do just that at this price.) This one plays in tune. Very surprising! It's a good "grab" and take anywhere guitar and inexpensive enough so you won't worry about it getting all "dinged up." I would recommend it as travel/backup guitar or a full size starter for someone who is interested in learning the guitar...

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:
Bought as a Xmas gift for son in early December and it was in a box until the end of the month making most of the musicians friend warranty used up by the time it was ever played. After a couple if weeks the body cracked where the neck attaches making it unplayable. M.f. Wouldn't stand behind their product and in so many words told me its nit their problem. I got Gibson to issue a RMA but the Cost of packing and shipping was ninty percent of the cost of the guitar new. I read the reviews before purchasing and figured I'd take a chance at purchasing the cheap guitar and it would be good enough for my ten year old son but a broke cheap guitar is much worse than a slightly more expensive one that will provide ore than three weeks of use. Please by a different brand from a different company.

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:
I have been playing the guitar for eight years, and I am entirely self taught. I am a married guy with little kids, and I can't justify spending tons of money on an acoustic guitar. This Epiphone DR-100 is a terrific value. It has a nice rich sound, the action is pretty good right from the factory, and it has a nice look to it (I recommend the black one). It also has one terrific bonus that so many guitar companies don't include on their lower priced guitars; it has two strap buttons! I do need to tune it before each practice session, but it's not that big a deal. I really believe that you can't go wrong with this guitar. Helpful tip to you guys who mostly play electric guitar, as I do. Put #10 size electric guitar strings on this thing, and it will be at least 30% easier to play than if you put acoustic strings on it. Enjoy!

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:
I got this guitar for Christmas one year, and it was pretty good, until not even a year later, it just gave out. I know you read other reviews that say it's awesome, but it's really not. I wouldn't waste my money on it if I were you. The action decreased over time, so it sounded very very junk. I don't think anyone should buy it.
