I have been playing guitar for around 4 years now, and have heard (and played) quite a few guitars. Let me tell you right now, I can honestly say that I've played thousand dollar Gibson and Martin guitars that don't sound this good. Now, don't get me wrong, it's certainly not going to beat a classic Martin D-28 or anything similar, but for the price, this is one of the greatest instruments you can buy. It has great tone. The tone is a little bright, I do prefer a dull-sounding tone, but it sounds perfect for country, blues, rock, ... anything. There is one thing I would like to touch on, however, and that is the electronics. I rarely play my Epiphone DR-200 through the amp, simply because it sucks batteries very quickly, and the input jack tends to give out quite often. But please, don't let that turn you off from this guitar! If you are looking for a more than great guitar at a more than great price, this is THE instrument for you ...

I've had my Epiphone DR-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar for about six months. As an acoustic guitar, I like it very much. It looks great, is fairly easy to play and has a nice tone. The electronics suck. The input jack was defective and it eats batteries too fast. The tone is twangy and cheesy unless everything but the lo freqs are turned down. It's even worse with the phase switch. If you fool around with the controls enough it can sound acceptable, but it sounds better with a mic that it does DE. It's a shame that Epi dropped the ball on the electronics because the guitar is otherwise very nice.

Great guitar for the money

By Catoe

from N. Augusta S.C,

I received this guitar as a birthday present from my wife. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the thing looked. Then I played it. It has a great sound plugged or unplugged. I am very pleased and would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for good sound, looks and price.

Warm but may bight

By Anonymous

Guitar has great money value. The action was kind of low when I got it but that can be fixed. Very loud without amp, allows for variation in intensity. Great for folk music and all those bob Dylan, cat Stevens, Pete Seeger stuff. This guitar stays in tune! Electronics can have a cool bight to them that sounds Latin. It?s Very versatile.

I just purchased this guitar today, and I am very pleased. Once I got everything straightened out on it, it sounded fantastic. The electronics work well and the Sunburst finish is beautiful. I am really looking forward to playing this for a very long time. An incredible guitar for such a low price.

Almost perfect

By Epiphone Doctor

from Toronto, ON

I've played different acoustic guitars in the past, expensive and beginners, and I think this guitar has one of the best sound there is. Incredibly loud even w/o an amp, the sound is just crytal clear and the soundhole captures most of the actions of my fingers. The feel of the neck is smooth like an les paul more or less. It's just unbelievable. Even the design and ornaments are beautiful and comparable to its more expesive counterparts. You'll just love this guitar. Proud to own one.

Great Acoustic-Electric Guitar!

By thom1234

from Perkasie, PA

The Epiphone DR-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar is an exceptional Acoustic guitar. Out of the box the DR-200CE played and sounded great. I am completely blown away buy the quality of the guitar in comparison to the cost. You can't go wrong with this Acoustic.

Flawed Perfection

By TheAssMan

from San Diego, CA

I have had this guitar for 3 months and it is the most amazing thing EVER. i went down to my local music store yesterday and tried the SOLID TOP guitars they had and all paled in comparison to this beauty, they didn't have the tone, the features the aesthetics...they had nothing on the dr200the only problem is that the finish was slightly flawed (dents around the bridge) and the preamp buzzez in it's slot sometimes but it's not loud enough to affect anything (this guitar is uber loud by the way).

Excellent Budget Guitar

I bought this guitar after viewing it on Epiphone's website since there was not a picture available here. This guitar is a great investment. Mine is the vintage sunburst finish which is absolutely beautiful. The action was a little high for my taste but the playability of the neck and the sound is wonderful and is better than that of more expensive guitars. The pickup gives superb natural tone with a little bit of that piezo pickup bite. To top it off, it has a strap button where the neck meets the body unlike many acoustic-electrics out there. I highly recommend this guitar!!!

Best for the money

I bought this guitar looking for a low priced acoustic electric for leading worship. It has certainly surpassed my expectations. It is definitely not a Taylor or Martin, but for the price it cannot be beat. Mine stays in tune very well which marks it high on my list. The sound quality isn't the best buy for the price, its a definite buy.
