This is my Long Term Review. I have had this guitar for a bit over two years now and can give a more complete picture of it.

First, the good. This is a very well made guitar. Under the pros, you will notice I mentioned Good Construction. This is particularly important in a 12 string. The biggest issue with all 12's is that they tend to come apart very quickly. You will have bowing, warping, separation of glueing, etc. All this is because of the tremendous extra pressure 12's suffer. After 2+ years, this guitar is still solid as a rock, and I leave it strung all the time. So I would say construction and bracing are very good on this instrument. Along with this is the fact that it Stays In Tune. This is another major issue with all 12's. Again, that extra force tends to make them go out of tune quickly. This one holds tune very well, and that is important as tuning a 12 takes some time.

As for sound, I would say Not too Bad overall, and Really Good for an budget level guitar. It is a little thin for my taste, but there are ways around that. First, throw on a set of decent strings. I prefer Martin Marquise on mine, but personal choice. Second, I like to play through an acoustic amp, and I put a Seymour Ducan Woody on mine. When adjusted correctly, I can get a really decent, full bass sound, lots of body and still keep a nice jangle expected from a 12. Will it sound like a Martin or Gibson, no, but it gives a really nice sound for such a low price.

As for the negatives, very few. First, keep in mind when Epiphone says "Select Spruce Top," they really mean laminated, not solid. But I suppose there varying qualities of laminated woods as well, and this one is great - really good resonance and sustain. It could maybe do with a better set of tuners, but as said before, it holds tune exceptionally well.

Overall, for the price, Epiphone makes a really nice and playable guitar. Now am just praying they come out with a Masterbilt version of it.

You can't beat this guitar for the price. The nut was a little sharp on one end, but an emery board took care of that problem. It has stayed in tune for a long time. When I needed to retune due to the cooler temperature, one of the strings broke.

Comments about Epiphone DR-212 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

The 12 string is among my collection of acoustic guitars. I use them to practice with so that I don't need amplification and my hand strength and dexterity will be really good when I play my electric guitars.

Wonderful guitar. Not my first one owned one back in the 1970's and this one is just as good. Great sound and the quality seems to be the best. I would compete with any guitarist with this instrument.

TLDR? - I _really_ like this guitar

Comments about Epiphone DR-212 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

TLDR? - the short version is: I _really_ like this guitar...
A little more detail? see below...
Yes, I am an owner - see order #104498349
Before talking about the instrument - a little bit about the GC store and staff, sometimes the butt of jokes (whether the guys have earned that reputation is not for me to say).
Several guys named Mike @ the Westlake GC location (store 231), and each one I met was unfailingly courteous and customer-friendly.
Acoustic section Mike let me know I could ask him questions and was otherwise non-intrusive.
I watched him assist several others with their selections and come back to ask if I needed anything.
When I did, and he was busy, he let me know there was another Mike in the electric guitar section who could complete the order.

Electric Mike (receipt calls him associate 061185) was equally helpful and gave me an accurate estimate of arrival time as well as a good strategy for cases - wait til it arrives in the store to see what's in stock (and special order only if nothing in stock is a good fit).
I'll be happy to do business with them again and have recommended this guitar to two friends so far.

        Instrument - Item ID 100291504
        The +
The frets are level and properly trimmed (no jagged ends poking thru the plastic binding) but not polished.
Compensated bridge looks/sounds right on cowboy chords and when touching 12th fret harmonics.
"1.6 in " nut measurement spec on GC website is not not correct (fortunately).
It's closer to 1.75 in and feels right.
Sounds good right out of the box.
Tuners (twelve of 'em) work okay.

        The -
Nut (plastic - not bone) arrived out of position, slightly off center - adjusted by the shop after a brief exchange of emails.
The model DR212 I received has a "Made in Indonesia" sticker (placed over scarf joint on the back of headstock).
The GC website specifies China as "Country of origin" - this is what I expected/hoped for instead.
Although this instrument never spent a day on the sales-floor, the original strings were surprisingly dirty, leaving corrosion marks on my fingers and black residue on my pick. (see pics)
Minor back-of-neck discolorations in the thick poly finish - I've applied Meguiar's fine-cut #2 w/ elbow grease and the marks remain, but it doesn't affect sound.

        The ???
The cute little E logo falls off the pickguard in less than 24 hrs of at-home-play.
Honestly, I'd expected that to be riveted through the select spruce top and impossible to remove - shrug.
        Peace - Deeve

Comments about Epiphone DR-212 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

Great guitar for the price, sound good and stays in tune. The only con I ran into was a slight warp from the bridge pulling on the body which 12 strings are prone to. The warp is no deeper than 1 mm. I am reluctant to leave this guitar in standard tuning but most songs I will be playing with this are open c, relieving much stress on the guitar. Haven't been able to put it down. Stock strings are just awful.

Bought this as a beater, it had a few Burrs on the tuners, one was a real mess, got it fixed and played it pretty much daily for 16-17 months, the real bad turner finally had had enough of this life and committed suicide and no longer exists..lol. I still would recommend this guitar to someone who can work a small file to clean up the edges. tone is a little sharp but for the price its a steal. about to buy another cheap 12 string may get the Ibby this time to compare, or may just grab another one of these. with the right strings its not a bad 12 string a lot better then any no name products I have played. I also have a Breedlove and I also prefer this neck for relaxing and just playing so ya take a chance on this one. its not all that bad with a bit of work.

Comments about Epiphone DR-212 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

Was concerned about quality at this price, was delighted with this baby. Local music store said they couldn't come close to the price I paid, and I bought a separate hard case with it, for less than they wanted for just the guitar. Ordered just before Christmas and got it almost too fast. Husband wouldn't wait to open it, but on the plus side he was all warmed up for the Christmas sing along. If your thinking of getting this..DO IT. You are only reading this to make sure it's an ok deal...read no further. ps..Customer service at Musician's Friend so far is wonderful.

I bought this guitar about 18 months ago, I play it at least 5 times a week. I love the play-ability of it, I find it lacks a bit of bass tone to it. I broke a tuner this morning and it did have a few burrs on the tunners. But I will replace it and I am sure will last me many more years. can not beat the price I also own a Breadlove 12 Like its sound better but I do like playing this one better, smaller neck lighter.
