The Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar is Epiphone's version of the Gibson classic, the guitar you've seen in the hands of everyone from Elvis to Emmylou. Jumbo maple body with a select spruce top, mustache bridge, gold hardware, and crown inlays on the fingerboard. Beautiful to behold, it has huge sound that you can easily amplify via the electronics.

    The eSonic2 preamp

The preamp is equipped with a very accurate chromatic tuner. When the tuner button is activated, the tuner, there will be no output signal from the guitar. The tuner button can also be used as a mute function. By activating the tuner, you can avoid the loud pops when plugging in.

    Revolutionary Stereo Pickups!
Under the EJ-200CE's compensated saddle, is Shadow’s proprietary NanoFlex™, low-impedance pickup. Unlike a piezo, the unique flexible sensing material features integrated active electronics that not only picks string vibration but also top and body vibrations as well for a truly acoustic tone without the harshness of piezos. Complimenting the NanoFlex is the revolutionary NanoMag™ pickup mounted at the harmonic-rich end of the fingerboard. Exclusively from Shadow, the NanoMag features 3 Samarian-Cobalt magnets and an integrated active circuit to capture all the highs and lows, including a wide range of harmonics. With your choice of either 1/4" mono output blending both pickups or 1/4" stereo output splitting the two pickups, you have incredible flexibility and opportunities to create the perfect acoustic tone live!

...I received this guitar last year. I decided to play it for a year and then give it a review. I play about 275 shows a year in various size venues both inside and outside, year round, alone in a solo setting as well as in acoustic duos, trios and in full production bands. I have used this guitar in all of those live performance situations as well as numerous recording situations and general 'around-the-house' playing. So, how did it hold up? This is a absolutely great guitar. For years I have dreamed of owning a Gibson J200, but I actually play music for a living and it is my only source of income, so the price has just been too prohibitive. The price on this guitar is ridiculously affordable, well within anyone's ability wiling to save up for a few weeks. The sound of this instrument both plugged in and unplugged is pretty diverse. The two pickups blend well and stand alone fine. The stereo function is a real plus. I experiment with two gtr cables and blend two channels on my mixer with various settings and slightly different effects. It's about the funnest guitar to play that I have ever owned. The body is very well constructed and light, especially for a jumbo bodied guitar. I've had to do seasonal adjustments on the neck, but I have never owned a guitar that didn't require this.It is a great sounding guitar with an ease of playability that is usually reserved for guitars I've played worth thousands of dollars. When it comes to the looks of the guitar... I have a black one with gold hardware and it is a beauty. I get comments on it everytime I take it out of its case at a show. I can't bear to keep it in it's case when I am home. I always seem to have it within arms reach or at least in my line of sight. If you do buy this one, you will definately have to buy the case that goes with it as not many genaric cases will fit around this big guitar. The case I bought for mine provides great protection, but one of the clasps doesn't fasten (had to be something). After one year of dragging this guitar from gig to gig and session to session I can truely say that this is one thing I have bought in the past 5 years that has actually been worth the money spent. I would highly recomend this for songwriters as wll. Strum one chod on ths, and you'll feel like writing a song with it. A pure joy to play.

Don't buy this thing. If you want a jumbo, shell out for a nice one. This one will not last.
Well Epiphone and I have been through alot together. Played many many shows with epiphone guitars and they have all been great... Until this one. Got this baby and plugged it in just over a year ago and it sounded great. The 2 pickups really gives it a good rich tone. Sounded great and played several shows with it. Now just after my warranty is up... The electronics in it have gone bad. This has angered my beyond belief. I would expect a pickup out of a $200 guitar to last 1 year, but this is pathetic. This will be my last Epiphone purchase. I don't recommend buying this.
Good for 1 year until all electronics died suddenly
worth about $100. Might as well consider it just an acoustic as apposed to an Electic Acoustic.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The guitar is beautiful. The hardware is good. The setup was absolutely horrible. The sticker on the back says "100% inspected and Set-up in the USA by 28." Well, 28 should be fired. The neck was pretty straight but the E & A strings fretted out from the 5th fret all the way up the fretboard. I had to put a shim under the bridge saddle to raise the E & A strings and put a pretty decent bow in the neck to stop it from buzzing. Now the strings are higher than Cheech and Chong. When I can get it to a decent luthier, I plan on having the nut and saddle replaced. On this guitar, the nut was cut too deep on the E & A strings and the saddle wasn't setup correctly. The guitar sounds great and I have no complaints about the rest of the construction. When the setup issues are fixed, this will be a wonderful guitar and I'll be using it on tour and leave my Martin at home. I might even buy me another one to have a spare. Also, I ordered the Epiphone hardshell case. It does the job but I wouldn't trust the case for heavy touring.

I have been checking guitars for over two years and played many of them. I have found this guitar is equal or better than most of them. It is a laminate body, but the jumbo size body gives it a lot of punch on the low end. I changed the strings to a set of Martins 13-56 and that gave it a real solid strong sound. It is a tremendous asset to have the tuner built in and it works superb.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been playing this guitar for about three months now. It is, by far, the best guitar I've ever owned. In my opinion, this is the best guitar on the market in this price range.
Sounds great unplugged as well as plugged in.
Mine has different electronics - it doesn't have the E-sonic. It has the Elan-4TN electronics system. I'm not sure if that is new or if maybe the E-sonic replaced this system.
I can't figure out how to get the tuner to work properly - it's possible the battery needs changed or something. But this guitar stays in tune very well.
Physically, it looks like a Gibson. Epiphone is, of course, owned by Gibson and is a sister company. This is the Epiphone version of the Gibson J-200. The only real difference is that this guitar (mine anyway) was made in Indonesia and the Gibson J-200 is hand-made in Nashville. And this guitar is over three-thousand cheaper. I've played both of them and there is very little difference in tone. Gibson does use a higher quality wood and it's solid whereas this guitar has a spruce top and maple back and sides.
The finish is gorgeous and it looks much more expensive than it actually is.
Out of the box, I changed the stock strings to Black Diamond lights (11s. The guitar comes with 12s I think). That elimited a buzz on the low E string. I also had it adjusted just slightly and it sounds great. Maple will mellow out over time, so give it a chance.
I play a lot and I play hard (classic rock, progressive rock, Roy Orbison style rockabilly) so I change the strings once a month.
Fantastic guitar at this price. It's not a Gibson but it might as well be.
Mine is the Vintage Sunburst color.

My first epi was built in Kalamazoo. Folk size and a friend still has it on his wall for my return someday but for now my 200 was put together in a far off land and setup by Gibson. The brass on the frets were sharp but a titanium file fix that quick. A set of light Elixir strings and it as good as it gets for a file and a set of strings.

              Good sounding guitar limited resonance
Versatile player bluegrass, counry, western, blues, folk styles.

Construction: selected Top; select Spruce means, it does not mean that it is Laminate. It is solid wood, just not of the same cut. Which means it will have different grain patterns, that is all.

This guitar lookd like a Gibson J-200 and plays like a Epi DR-100. I had thrre of them two from China and one from Indonesia in SNBT and BLK.
