Epiphone

Gibson's famous jumbo design with electronics and a cutaway!

The Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar is Epiphone's version of the Gibson classic, the guitar you've seen in the hands of everyone from Elvis to Emmylou. Jumbo maple body with a select spruce top, mustache bridge, gold hardware, and crown inlays on the fingerboard. Beautiful to behold, it has huge sound that you can easily amplify via the electronics.

The eSonic2 preamp
The eSonic2 preamp with built-in tuner features studio-quality fidelity, premiere dynamics, and greatly increased harmonic content, resulting in uncompromising acoustic guitar realism. The preamp is equipped with a very accurate chromatic tuner. When the tuner button is activated, the tuner, there will be no output signal from the guitar. The tuner button can also be used as a mute function. By activating the tuner, you can avoid the loud pops when plugging in.

NanoFlex pickup
The term "NanoFlex" refers to its ultra thin (nano-like) profile and its flexibility that allows it to conform to any surface shape. This assures complete guitar-to-pickup-to-saddle contact. Unlike other under-saddle pickups, the NanoFlex design utilizes 7 highly-sensitive and ultra-responsive layers of sensor material to not only sense the vibrations of the strings but the vibrations of the guitar body as well. The NanoFlex is the first pickup to incorporate active amplification directly at the pickup. As a result, the signal does not pass through even a single millimeter of the wire and therefore, the signal quality is uncompromised.

Epiphone EJ200 CE

Features:

Like the electronics and the on board tuner.  We changed the strings to Martin's and went to a heavier gauge and this made a difference in the sound- very positive. Would get the case.  This is a jumbo and will not fit in a normal acoustic case as the Epiphone headstock elongates past the upper case closure.  We made a sock for this so the headstock would not get damaged in transport. It is such a pretty guitar, get a case for the trouble it saves.

Quality:

Very nice quality and it smells like wood.  The electronics amplify this really well and the different pickups are very cool to adjust and play around with. People are blown away by the nice sound and the amplification is a plus -but unplugged as well, it sounds great.

Value:

Great value in comparison to a similar Gibson.  Gibson wins hands down, but I would not want to take my Gibson out to where it could be damaged. I lend this to my son and have no worries.  He really is just playing the heck out of this all of the time.  We are very happy to have found this and tike the cutaway access too.

Overall:

Excellent guitar with a nice setup out of the box.  Tones are great and the playability is what I was looking for without the cost.

Beautiful is only skin deep..not a solid top guitar

Features:

Good features, neck strap button, gold hardware, nice elegant bridg work, neck with plastic inlaids, great pickguard design

Quality:

I had big problems with the neck and still this guitar has no solid Top. The setup was crappy and the guitars were unplayable.  I owned three of these and will be selling them.

The lack of a solid top compromises the resonance the guitar lacks  and I compared my three to a Lakedwood jumbo and my D-15 mahogany.

Value:

This is an Eye-Candy guitar. It is not bad for a beginner who has a big frame, but I prefer solid top guitars now-a-days. And there are many at this price

Overall:

I gave it higher than average rating because this guitar has so much appeal to the eye. It has a good balanced sound but lack resonance

EJ-200CE Great guitar for the price!!!

Features:

The electronics are very good, quiet and great tone. I like the cutaway design. Sounds great unplugged too, although I think the strings it shipped with aren't very good, will be replacing them ASAP with some D'Addarios coated. I just play at home and at parties these days, so the price point of this guitar is a great feature too.

Quality:

The finish is excellent, I can't find a mark or a blemish anywhere, love the sunburst colour and it really shines nice. Feels great to hold and play, well set up, straight out of the box (almost in tune too, just a tone flat!). My says "made in china", but I believe they're know made in Indonesia and that they are better? Wonder if mine is from old stock? Anyway, I can't fault the quality at all.

I bought the matching Epiphone case for it too (see separate review), just $89! It's a really tight fit in there though, but I expect it will get easier with use.

Value:

Amazing vallue for money! I've never played a Gibson J200, but I do own a 1969 Gibson SG and the action on this Epi isn't far off being as good, the intonation is actually better than my SG. I've seen a lot of pros playing Epiphone, so I figured they must be OK... now I know why!

Overall:

I just took delivery of the guitar today, so the above are just my first impressions. I'm sure I'll like it even more when I've played it for a while and get it set up to suit my style of playing. Just repeating what I've said already, this guitar is outstanding for the price. If you want a great sounding, nice playing guitar, and you don't want to worry so much about gigging it or playing it at parties etc. don't hesitate, buy this one!

The value goes witout saying ! You will not beat this deal . I have acoustic electric guitars ranging from 2000.00 to 6800.00 , and I will tell you this deal is unbeatable hands down . In fact it is so good I purchased a second one . I now have a vintage sunburst and a black one . I give five stars.

Overall:

I will have to give a five star pluss pluss due to having two of these fine intruments and cant find the fist flaw with or on either one of them !! All of the features on both are clean neat and strait . My recommendation is if you are reading this much about this guitar do yourself a favor and buy it ! You wont regret it .
