Epiphone

Gibson's classic J-200 style with eSonic2 electronics and generous cutaway.

Epiphone's version of the Gibson classic J-200, known as the "King of the Flat Tops", a guitar that has graced stages across the world in the hands of musical legends from Elvis to Emmylou. This modernized version features a jumbo maple body with a select spruce top, a stylish mustache bridge, gold hardware, crown inlays on the fingerboard, and a huge sound easily amplified by the an eSonic2 preamp with built-in tuner and NanoFlex/NanoMag pickups. Case sold separately.

A body full of grace
The EJ-200CE’s construction features a solid spruce top with select maple, back and sides and a striking cutaway that provides you better fret access than its predecessor. This 25.5" scale beauty also comes with Epiphone's SlimTaper select maple neck which helps give you a smoother ride up and down the rosewood fingerboard. The rosewood fingerboard has vintage style pearloid crown inlays and a 1.68” nut along with our iconic Sloped Dovewing Epiphone headstock with premium die-cast gold 14:1 tuners.

A fresh spin on classic tone
The tone from the EJ-200CE’s select maple top is enhanced by the classic rosewood “mustache” bridge and synthetic bone saddle. A tortoise-style pickguard with a unique dandelion art pattern helps round-out the EJ-200CE’s iconic look. Thanks to it's combination of tonewoods and construction, the EJ-200CE provides you with a solid, yet balanced tone which lets rhythm guitarists and singer-songwriters feel like they’re being backed up by a band even when they’re playing a set pared down. The rich and complex tones the EJ-200CE will truly inspire musicians everywhere over and over again.

Plug it in, plug it in
Taking the J-200 to whole new levels sonically, the EJ200CE features the Epiphone eSonic2 preamp system which features a built-in, easy-to-use tuner. And when you're playing, you don't have to worry about any accidental popping as the eSonic2 automatically mutes your output. When you push in the tuner button and unplug your guitar, it also keeps it "pop" free. The EJ200CE also provides you with tone-shaping options - NanoFlex Tone, NanoMag Tone, Stereo Blend - as well as Master Volume, and a Low Battery indicator and a Phase switch to help eliminate unwanted feedback. The eSonic2 is powered by two 2032 lithium watch batteries which are not only lightweight, but also last significantly longer life than more traditional, heavier 9V batteries.

Revolutionary stereo pickups
The EJ-200CE features a compensated saddle with Shadow Germany’s proprietary NanoFlex, low-impedance pickup. The NanoFlex's unique flexible sensing material has integrated active electronics that picks up string vibration as well as top and body vibrations for a truly acoustic tone without the harshness usually associated with piezos. As a compliment, there is a NanoMag pickup mounted at the harmonic-rich end of the fingerboard. It features 3 Samarian-Cobalt magnets and an integrated active circuit to capture all the highs and lows, including a wide range of harmonics. The preamp allows you to chose 1/4" mono output blending both pickups or 1/4" stereo output splitting the two pickups, giving you incredible flexibility and opportunities to create the perfect acoustic tone live.

I own several guitars -- a Martin D-35, a 1958 Martin 00 Classical, an Epi Les Paul, and a Fender Acoustic electric, and have played for about 40 years, professionally at one time, but now mainly as a hobbyist. When I need it, I play through a Peavy Delta Blues 210 amp, which is a great amp.I have always wanted a jet black acoustic guitar, and when I spotted the Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic - Electric, I thought I would give it a try. The first one arrived with a flaw on the 4th string tuner, so I sent it back for a replacement. The next guitar arrived OK, looks great, has a pretty big sound, not compared with my Martin D-35, but then this was about 1/4 the price, and I could use it for more knock-around purposes. I really like the sound I can get from tweaking the Esonic electronics, which really helps make up for a lack of much depth in the bass strings when I play through an amp. But after a couple months the fingering has developed a problem, and the 6th string won't play from the 5th to the 7th fret, it?s not just a buzz, it basically won?t play. I tried making small adjustments to the neck, but no change, that string is still dead in the middle of the neck. I am taking it to a guitar repair facility to see what they can do, but honestly, if I had it to do over again, I think I would throw in a few more dollars and buy a Gibson Songwriter Special or something similar with a bigger bass sound, and no neck/fret problems.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar guitar is my first acoustic purchase. I'm relatively new to guitar as well, although I've dabbled a bit on electric before this purchase. This guitar is very aesthetically pleasing, to both the eye and ear, generally. It's has a beautifully put together body, and the mag blend sound is exhilarating. This guitar entices me to pick it up and play/practice every time I look in its direction. Many well versed musician associates of mine are very impressed with this guitar overall. I did have to swap out the strings with a slightly lighter gauge as the stock strings were a serious challenge even to other acoustic playing friends of mine who tried it as it was.
In addition, the cutaway neck really offers versatility and allows you the potential to shred.

A Great priced, well made guitar. Works straight out of the box. It's made of great wood, so you can take it anywhere, i even had mine out in the forest one night. The only con is that my G string tuner isn't working well. But i could highly recommend it!

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I don't think you can buy a better guitar at this price. My Martin Shenandoah doesn't hold a candle to it. Excellent craftsmanship combined with a warm resounding tone and great playability. The built in tuner is a great added feature. Mine came set up by Epiphone in the USA and number 18 did a magnificent job. An all around great guitar.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought one of these about three years ago. Black finish. I absolutely love this guitar! The body is large, which is what I was going for since I'm 6'2", 235lbs. It plays and sounds fantastic. My only two complaints would be the decoration on the pickguard will rub off,(which happens also on the Gibson model) and that it's not very loud. Having said that, in a live situation this is not a big deal, especially if you use in-ear monitoring. I love this guitar and will buy another soon. Tobacco finish this time.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

a couple uses where a joke. I was expecting
this guitar would need work as far as adjusting
the bridge, nut and neck but it did not. fine sand and buff the frets with steel wool each time you change the strings usually twice will do it on the epiphones, and the rough feel of the frets
when playing lead or sliding chords will feel
    more like its Gibson counterpart.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar can made perfect with some
work to the nut, bridge, frets and fret board.
It played well when I got it, but I took
the time to get it right and use it for deep
full background chords and low end melody lines
in blue grass and rock what a nice sound
raw or plugged in. I had a couple friends over
who play and they both loved the deep full sound.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Not as rich in the bass tones as I'd hoped. Had played an Alvarez in a local store with more tone quality I liked prior to this purchase. Should have bought that one too. Don't get me wrong I am very pleased with this EJ 200ce or was until now. I just found out they have different electronics which includes on board tuner than when I purchased mine several years ago. I'm hurt to learn of this. Not to mention I think the price is a little lower than when I bought mine. Still happy with my guitar all the same.

I had purchased a Hummingbird Pro but after only 5 performances,it failed me.I traded it in on the EJ200 natural finish & I was blown away by the quality & value. It's so far above the Dove & Hummingbird, it's unbelievable. This is PERFECT for all my performances, which is strictly Gospel Music. If I ever wear this one out, I WILL buy another one just like it.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have owned five of these. I have sold one and will sell the other four eventually.
This is not a bad guitar but it is an average guitar that looks great.
I have compared my four to Martins and the e-200 from gibson. Even a deaf person would hear the difference. And I tell you if it sounded like a E-200 or as good as a Martin D-35, I"d sell my guitars and I would not only keep my four but I would buy more. This guitar is limited on the bass end and it is a laminated Maple therefore more neutral in sound compared to Mahogany and Rosewood. Although I love to look at ths guitar I prefer to play a Martin or Gibson, no question. However I would say if it sounds like a gibson or Martin to you then buy it. In honesty to me there is no comparison and I cannot say that even if it would help me sell my other four ej-200. But this is a fair price

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This Epiphone EJ-200CE sounds exactly the same to me as the classic Gibson J-200 but for a tenth of the price. As an acoustic, this guitar cannot be beat. I was also surprised to find that there are two different pickups with separate jacks that both have great distinct tone to them. The NanoMag is a magnetic pickup at the end of the fingerboard and the Nanoflex is an under-saddle pickup. Both sound amazing!

My purchase was "Like New" with a significant discount and I had to look hard to find the shallow dent the width of a ballpoint pen tip. I will be surprised if I don't make a bigger dent than that in the first year.
