If your on the fence about trying one of these Elitist SG's out take my suggestion and order now before they are gone, and they are going fast. I was all set to order the Gibby Standardwhen I stumbled onto this deal and I ordrred right away. A few Weeks back I got the Elitist LP Standard and was astonished by the quality of that guitar so I new what to expect with this SG. I never liked the "normal" Epi's but the Elitist line is the real deal, so much in fact I am going to order either the Black SG or the 335 model as well as the Cherry SG I just got and still have about 2 bills left over from what one Standard would have cost me. The Cherry finish is very sexy as you can see the nicely matched wood grains through the finish, which was honestly better than the standard I was ready to buy. The balance on this guitar is also not near as neck heavy as other SG's I have had or tried out. Oh yeah the case is very nice also and fits the guitar perfectly. The pickups, which I always want to change on a new guitar are staying put and are nice and punchy and in your face for my hard rock, blues and metal playing. One last thing the Grovers are a nice touch and better IMO then the plastic Green keys I have on my LP. Super light, super loud and ready to rock..do not wait I'm telling you these will be gone soon, maybe before this review is even published!

As you have read in the other reviews from other people, this guitar is Extremely good, no actually most of them claim it is perfect. Believe me when I say this, It isn't anywhere near perfect. The product isn't that bad. It is about average. The price is kind of high for the quality it has. I actually have owned this guitar, but I sold it about a year ago. If you feel like this is a good price for an ok guitar, then buy it. Otherwise, just Go to a Gibson or Fender.

I cannot believe that Epiphone has discontinued this axe. I called them to ask them why and they could not really say other than maybe consumer interest, no way, they are lying. This thing is the best value for the money out there. Why spend $1500 for a Gibson when you can get this for almost $1000 less. I absolutely love this guitar; it goes great with my Fender Aerodyne Strat, also made in Japan. As I write this there are only a few left, so if you are thinking about getting one, hurry up, they will not be around for very long. By the way I have a black one to match my Strat, it's a beautiful guitar.

Great guitar, put face to face with Gibson sound and quality is as good or better! The Epiphone looked and most important sounded better.
When I opened it...it was nice, I got the mahogany one...but when I played it, it was like nothing I heard before, the clarity and the tone were awesome. My friend has a Gibson and the Epiphone blows it away. For the price I paid, I wouldnt have gotten anything else. You guys are getting a great deal with this. I did have one problem, the inlay on the ninth fret fell out but it was easy to fix. Buy this guitar
This guitar is amazing. I was looking at the Gibson 61 reissue and the Epi has almost no differences in playability, quality, and range. If you care about the name on te headstock, go for a Gibson and spend more than twice as much, but this Epiphone is an amazing guitar for an amazing price.
This is the greatest guitar I've ever played. My friend has a Les Paul Custom and this SG blows it out of the water. Its looks are killer, its tones and sounds are awesome. Extremely playable and awesome sounding. I would highly recommend getting this guitar. It is a great axe at a great price!
When I opened the case I couldnt believe how beautiful it looked! My wife laughed at my expression. She said my Eyes bugged out and my jaw dropped open. The fit and finish was flawless! The neck is so smooth and fast! The sound is awesome. I've had this axe for 7 months with no problems, except my wife claims I don't spend enough time with her now! Great Guitar!
I just bought this guitar and I have to say that although it is great it is not perfect. The Wood, Electronics, Setup, and Tone are spot on but the craftsmanship is NOT up to gibson standards by no means. My came with some flaws that I must let other know about since most of the reviews claim this is a perfect guitar. The nut on mine was install and sprayed with the clear poly the rest of the guitar got and the poly has stress cracks in it from when it was strung up. Also the binding has a dimple in it on the top side of the neck around the first fret. It also has some glue embedded in the grain of the rosewood on the fingerboard where someone was sloppy. They wiped it off smooth but it can be seen in the deep parts of the wood still. Also there are a couple of sloppy spots on the topside of binding where it recieved the white paint. These my be minor to some people but I expected better craftmanship with all this grade A materail used on the guitar. I have to say in my opinion, the materail far exceeds the normal epi's but frankly the craftsmanship does not. It is great playing and great sounding though, the pickups are awesome and it is still worth MF's price.
I have always been partial to the Les Pauls. I currently have an '04 Elitist L.P. I bought this SG because of the rumors that they were being discotinued and MF had them at a super price. I loved it from the get go. I pick up the SG now more often than the L.P. The neck feels great, lightning fast. The USA made pickups just growl thru my Line 6 Spider II 30. I had considered purchasing a new Gibson Les Paul but after getting this little beast I am leaning toward the Gibson '61 SG reissue. Get yourself one of these Elitist while you still have the chance.
The only difference it has from the Gibson is that it says Epiphone and it was made in Korea.
