explorer-gt electric guitar!

By gage higgins

from a house

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

overall its a great guitar and you must buy it!
this guitar is for begginers and for advanced players. it has a small body, but its worth it. when i got it the last 5 frets didn't work, dont be mad or anything. take the sticker of the pickups. then they will play. and be aware that its a new guitar. so you have to break in the frets. so keep playing the guitar and the frets will sound great.. from the pack. the guitar had strings that didn't go to it. so you got to change those. lastly. this guitar had a very fast neck for soloing.

Explorer GT

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

Overall the Guitar works and performs great. The Explorer features quality parts and delivers exellent performance. I also purchased the SKB-Exp style case. The Explorer Gt is a 3/4 size Explorer so its a bit small. Easy fix is to take your strap, coil it up and wedge it between the lower portion of the guitar and the case. Stay nice and tight after that. Also put a set of Ernie Ball strings and Strap-Locks on. Stock Strap-buttons were fine but I like to move around alot and couldn't risk an accident. All in all, a fanstastic axe for the price and something you wont regret.
This Explorer has excellent features for the price. The 650R and 700T pickup combo deliver a quality sound unlike other models in this price range. The Killswitch in the tone pot is an innovative and fun feature although I don't really use it all that much. Tuners work fine and stay in tune. The neck is smooth and sleek, plays real fast. I loved the parallelogram pearl inlays. Gives the guitar a quality look and feel. Also liked the Flying V style head-stock with the 3+3 tuners.
Quality is good for the price. Hardware is durable, looks and performs great. Humbuckers give rich sound and tuners keep guitar in tune. The bolt-on neck stays put and is very solid. Frets are clean and cause no fret-buzzing. Guitar was set-up real nice and low right out of the box. The only complaint I have is the pots and knobs have came loose and couple of times but that's an easy fix. Guitar also gets knicked up around the points but not much you can do about that.
Given the price of $200, you can't go wrong buying one of these. No problems playing and sounds great compared to guitars even double its price. Humbuckers wont need changing. Wish it would have had a set-neck but it honestly doesn't matter because it works just fine. The wiring is done well and guitar wont let you down.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

I have to say.....this is one of the best guitars I have purchased. It was in tune, intonation was set, etc... I played it at a gig the same day I got it and ended up using it all night. I actually bought this as a second guitar and now I think that I will make it my primary guitar. BUY THIS GUITAR!!!! you won't be sorry.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

For the money you can't beat this quality and playability. The neck is smooth & fits nicely in your hand. The sound is great right out of the box. It's smaller & lighter than the Gibson Explorer & has a nice feel to the rounded edges. I have a collection of around 35 guitars from low to high end & this Epiphone rates highly for a beginner to a moderate player. Very nice!

Great guitar for the money.

By Duncan Schelin

from SLC

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

Honestly I gig with this and enjoy it, no problems to speak of yet after switching out the tuners for some grovers.
Killswitch in the tone pot is great, very unique. I wish there were separate volume/tone knobs for each pickup, but it's not a huge issue (for me at least)
Tuners are hit or miss, but that's not an expensive fix, the bolt on neck is solid (which could have been the biggest problem with this guitar), the electronics are well made/wired, and the finish is quite nice to look at in person. Pickups are a little harsh, but really, that's the sound my genre loves, so no complaints there.
Best guitar for this price that I've ever played, obviously you're not looking at a high end axe here, but I've paid close to five time the price and gotten worse guitars then this.

A tasty sounding axe for the metalhead on a budget

By TanTan the ManMan

from Holland, MI

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar at the Firehouse guitars store in Grand Rapids. The body is actually quite small, but it's still easy to hold and play. It's got an awesome finish too, it looks like someone covered a mahogany guitar with pencil lead. There was some fret buzzing, but one must remember that it does have a bolt-on neck. The pickups sound perfect for metal and the Flying V headstock tops off this metal-machine. I had a lot of fun with the killswitch too, it's just as easy to push down as a button on a gameboy. If you're a metal head looking for an affordable guitar to rip tasty licks off of, then you will not be disappointed with this guitar.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

ive had this guitar for a little over a yeear now and its finish is gorgeous but the pickups are terrible it may just be my guitar but it overloads on the bass the low E sounds to shaky and weak so i went and bought some emg pickups and now its killer the neck is quite rikety and i have to tighten it every now and then but all around a solid guitar but i could have gotten a better one for the price

Quality Guitar at a Intro Price

By Doug Stuart

from Brookfield, Ct.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

If you are a pro touring and playing all the time then you won't
agree with my review , but if you are just starting or even playing
in a garage band on weekends you will really like this axe!!!
Not a lot of features , but at this price it's not expected
One feature included is a kill switch , but I can't figure out why
that would be useful. Also the upper strap button faces straight up
and will cause the strap to fall off ( strap locks will solve this problem).
Even being there cheaper model , Epiphone still put their quality and time
into it!, it was setup perfect right out of the box , the neck has a great feel
and frets are well dressed ( no sharp ends ).
The tuners could be better ( jaking up the price ) but are still better than
most guitars in this price range and will work good enough.
Epiphone quality at a generic price , enough said !!

High-quality guitar, small price

Ask me a question

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

This little gem is made of a high-density mahogany body and a hard maple neck. It is not too light in weight and is heavy enough to provide a good sustain. It has high-quality black hardware with smaller tuners than my Epiphone Goth LP and SG; these tuners are well-machined and do a stellar job in everyday use. The guitar has the Goth faded black finish, the only difference being that the GT nut is white. The neck is just as slender and fast as a Strat's and that is what sold me. Much as I like the Epiphone quality (better, for instance, than an American-made Strat), their fat Gibson necks have cost them a lot of sales. Not any more, for they have provided a thin neck with a stellar fret job (unlike the average Fender) and it shreds!!The pickups are loud and harmonic. They sound sweet and friendly, suitable for solid-state metal, Marshall rock, and Fender clean. Buy immediately!!!

Solid Guitar

By lt7yosh

from Klamath Falls, OR

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

Overall, Great guitar. I swapped out the pickups myself for a rail type humbucker, and this guitar will put out endless chunk and sustain!! only thing i'd really change: the tuning machine peg holes are smaller than most aftermarket tuners, like grovers for instance, and this guitar definitely needs a swap out on the tuners. solid construction all the way around, frets do have some buzzing but can be filed down. Best epi product i've played so far! perfect for metal and jazz.

This is a great guitar! It handles well and moves with you. For as little as it weighs it provides a great platform. I am a pretty vigorous rhythm player this was very important. I have four amps and it sounds good on all of them.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

Got this guitar for my 15 year old son to play at school and it's a great beginner guitar. Naturally he loves the design, especially the colour and the knobs. It's a real sturdy build with a quality feel to it.

I'm certainly no musician so can't really comment on its sound with any authority but to my ear it produces a pretty clean sound with no buzzing.

Only issue we found was that his strap pops off easily but I think that may be due to the size of the slit on his strap rather than the guitar.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better beginner guitar.

Big Guitar in a Little Package

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

Walked into a guitar center and saw this sitting out. Figured I was gonna be playing the equivalent of a Squier. I WAS SO WRONG. The thing is just absolutely ridiculous! I play a Schecter Damien FR, and the action was easily comparable to it. The top of the neck is C-shaped, while it flattens out at about the 13th fret and feels more like a curvier Jackson. The killswitch button was weird, dunno what they were thinking. It's not bad, it just seems kinda random, like it was tacked on as an afterthought. It's incredibly light, so that would probably help out anyone playing shows. Bit smaller and more balanced than it's big brother from Gibson. Overall, I was highly impressed with the value of this guitar. If you're looking to start, I couldn't recommend a better axe to get you going.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

I really like this guitar and play it everywhere. I did replace the pickups and cheap tuners. The satin finish is ok, but has developed a shiny spot from where I anchor my fingers on it while playing. The back of the neck is now very shiny. Also, the wood is soft, so be careful drilling holes in the headstock to accomodate new tuners, and I wouldn't try installing a Floyd Rose on it. My guitar tech jokingly told me my axe is made of balsa wood-- it's so lightweight and comfortable to play. But it does have a delicate vibe, and I'm careful not to abuse it......Overall, it's a nice axe, and I'm very happy with it.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a little shorter than most and it is very light, but has a solid killer sound. Most highly recommended for smaller framed individuals, girls, teens,,or large 6 foot shredders like me. An excellent sounding guitar with of course the cheapees as noted. Don't drop it too many times. Get the Behringer Amp and you've got a godzilla hero package for little money. Do yourself a favor and get this, if only for the looks and feel. Nice.
