Some Real World Feedback on the Zakk Les Paul Pee Wee

        By William Bergen

        from colorado

Comments about Epiphone Flying Vee Wee Zakk Pakk Electric Guitar/Amp Value Pack:

        SWEET guitar....looks fantastic.

You should really consider the limtations of tuning this badboy before buying it....but from a quality perspective, I was very impressed. I'm kinda thinking of throwing soe EMG pick-ups on this thing...and letting my 6 year old go to town.
Solid, great looking little rig from top to bottom
Fit and finish is A+ for a kid's guitar, can't complain at all
Marshall amp is cute, and definitely plays.....but it's a small practice amp at best

Only complaint is that there really was no feedback/ advice on the tuning issues these guitars suffer from. I almost sent the thing back until I talked to a couple of guitar shop guys who set me straight. Once I followed their advice, I was real pleased with how the guitar sounded.

Thats exactly why I am writing this review...to help other folks make a god buying decision.
Again, great quality in my opinion....the guitar is really solid from top to bottom
This doesn't feel like a kids guitar, it feels very similiar to other full size guitars I've owned.
Strap is also of good quality

        Paint job absolutely rocks!!!!
I think this overall bundle is a great value...but I want to make one IMPORTANT note on how this guitar is set up. Because of it's size, this guitar will absolutely not stay in tune (standard E)
I talked to several professionals about the issue, and it has nothing to do with the parts or build.
I've been told that almost all 1/2 size guitars suffer from the same problem. The best solution is not to change or adjust any hardware, but to actually tune the guitar to a standard A. I could spend 2 paragraphs explaining why, but trust me....this is the only real way to keep it in tune. This is important to keep in mind if you are buying the guitar to teach a youngster from scratch. My son is a normal height/ weght 6 year old, and the guitar fits him perfectly. When you take it out of the box, it might LOOK small..but wait till you see it strapped up against your 5-7 year old. It sits real well, and is sturdy....but not too heavy.

This guitar is a pain to tune, and the tuning pegs are cheap
The tuning pegs are a ripoff, and don't work

        For the little rocker.

Comments about Epiphone Flying Vee Wee Zakk Pakk Electric Guitar/Amp Value Pack:

Make no mistake, this is a child's guitar. I would not recommend this for traveling, adult practicing, etc. I bought this guitar used for my 7 year old brother in law. I got a decent deal on it used, but it is quite pricey new for a child's guitar. Right out the box I tuned it, then let the strings stretch for a few days, then tuned again but, the guitar would not hold a tune. Just as in the other review. I learned the guitar must be tuned up higher than EADGBe. The Epiphone humbucker sounds good, but does get noisy, even through the Marshall Mini Doom. Which is a great little amp for a child to practice on. My brother in law loves it Because it's a real Marshall, and he loves my Marshall MG100HDFX halfstack. The frets are quite small, but it is a half size guitar intended for a child. The bullseye graphic of course is awesome, and its Zakk Wylde to the bone.

        It is what it is

        By MeatHammer

Comments about Epiphone Flying Vee Wee Zakk Pakk Electric Guitar/Amp Value Pack:

You're going to read reviews in different places for the V or LP versions of this which will basically be "Its awesome!" or "worst piece of s**t I've ever wasted my money on!". Here's the real scoop. I first belonged to the "this is a POS" club after a test at GC. Then after some further research, including Epi's website, that you have to tune this lil mofo up much higher than standard. Strings should be low to high: ADGCEA. Once its tuned like this, you will not experience the tuning/intonation horrors found trying to tune it standard. After the strings stretch for a few days, it will settle into a decent tuning. Intonation is still off on mine, however, and all my strings could use a little lengthening but the bridge is fixed. The bridge is standard size so I suppose if you spent the money on a different bridge you could adjust the saddles. If you went that far, you should also replace the tuning pegs. Oh, and then the pickup. After some standard bends, she's out of tune. The pickup 'works' but its not meant for pro recording. All in all, its OK for being a 1/2 size working guitar but feel it to be rather pricey. Playing past the 12th fret will be difficult for std adult fingers. The sides of the frets on the GC one were sharp and would scratch my fingers but mine was OK luckily. The MS4 amp also 'works' and is better than nothing. Beware that although the MS4 takes a 9v battery, it does not include a power pack to plug in. It has the jack, but you'll need to go to RadioShack or somewhere for one. The strings were seemingly dipped in grunge. 10's and even 11's are a must. The fretboard wood was also gritty/grungy but some Pledge took care of that. There was slight black overspray fleks in spots, but the finish is nice. The gig bag has back pack style straps and a handle, the pouch big enough for the MS4, strap, cord, more. I like this thing, but really it was meant as a decoy for my near 3 yr old nephew. He always wants to "wock n woll" on Uncle's Gibson, Jackson, etc so this is really for his bday! Tune it right, keep expectations realistic, and you'll be satisfied with it--maybe not blown away, but satisfied.
