I've been through plenty of guitars in my day. No, I'm not going to sit here and say I'm some master professional who has been playing for 60 years, but when it comes to guitars, I know what the deal is.

Ordered this guitar in the cherry finish, and it is absolutely beautiful. However, the pick guard is not the same style as pictured, but the smaller one. Can't complain, though, I actually like the look a little better.

I'm really digging these new pups that Epiphone has come out with. They closely resemble Gibson 57's in a way, but not exact. But, for stock pickups, you really can't beat them. I definitely won't mind waiting to replace them.

I have barely used the coil-split function yet, but when I have, it's a very fun function. It doesn't give you the same single-coil tone as a p90 would, but still has that familiar twang to it. Very nice additive. Sounds great clean, crunchy, and distorted.

I really like the Wilkinson tuners. I have yet to have a problem with it going in and out of tune, and they are really light and easy to fine-tune. The look of them is also a plus.

The action right out of the box is very nice. However, I would prefer mine a little lower, but that's nothing a professional set-up won't take care of.

All in all, this guitar is extremely fun to play, feels great from the moment you pick it up, and feels solid enough to last a long while. I am having no second thoughts and do not plan on returning. Recommended for sure!

This is a very nice guitar and sounds great. But I think putting PRO in the model is not realistic. For an advanced player you may consider a real Gibson SG. After one week of playing it I noticed a couple things that should be taken into consideration. The neck is flexible. Lifting or moving the guitar causes a minor tuning shift. Not sure if an adjustment to the neck would fix this. The other thing has to do with the knobs. I noticed that if I tried a combination of tones you can put the guitar in a state where there is no sound in the middle position. By shifting the knobs around it comes back. I think there's a minor bug in the electronics. But don't be dismayed. This is one heck of a good sounding guitar. It comes with a factory checklist. They've checked for fret buzz and a bunch of other things. If your on a budget and can overlook these issues buy it with confidence. MF took this back no questions asked. I upgraded to an entry level Gibson.

Comments about Epiphone G-400 PRO Electric Guitar:

Purchased as an Open Box/Mint (3rd OB/scratch and dent from MF) and cannot tell the difference from new. Saved 20 percent off retail and it's the 3rd Epi that I own because it has great tones and in my opinion, sounds just as good as a Gibson as I've played both. I will continue to buy Epi's as the price/value/tone is hard to beat and will not cost a fortune just to have fancy bindings and overpriced electronics. It's a guitar used to make music (if you want a work of art, buy a Gibson) My Epi Les Paul Plus Top in Tobacco Sunburst purchased from MF is also just as gorgeous and sounds equivalent to a Gibson. Next purchase is an Epi Casino.

Comments about Epiphone G-400 PRO Electric Guitar:

I've had vintage SG guitars, they are good but this Chinese made guitar is solid. Plays and sounds great.
Love the wide neck and coil splitting controls. Get a great single coil almost Strat tone.

I like this better than the Gibson SG product. It's not a matter of "for the money".

I like this product better. I guess I'll have to live to be 90 to see if it holds up as well as a Gibson.

Guitar was shipped in a hardshell case and it showed up at my house unplayable. Fret buzz for any note I played in the fretboard.
I immediately put it back in the case and called MF to return it. BTW, I'm still waiting on my refund!
MF is not what they used to be...

I just bought this last week and the second day I had it I sat in with a Band that has a guitar player nicknamed "skypup"....His 67 original and my brand new Epi....playing difference? proab just the difference between touches more than the guitars.
This guitar needs no "affordable" or " instead of" disclaimers. Bring what You want and She will stand right in there! I have been playing both Pro and Semi-Pro for way over 40 years, and this is a SPECIAL Guitar!

A few small rough places on the fret board edge, not really noticeable until I changed the stock strings to new ones. Frets needed polishing. Intonation I needed a tweak or two. Now the good news. Plays very well with a good setup from the factory.overall fit and finish is very good. Pickups sound awesome. Love the versatility of the coil tap system. This guitar is a very good value. I'm a happy customer so far.
