I am very satisfied with my new Epiphone Goth Explorer. I have played guitar for about eighteen years I am a guitar teacher, and also play just about everything that has a guitar note in it. I play in my Church Praise and Worship band and have been in an active local band for six years. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who wants a great playing, tough looking axe to hammer on or to just gently pick although it is hard with this monster to lightly pick it. The action is great and it is easy to freht. It's tones are great for Jazz, Heavy Metal, Rock, and especially blues. I also play a Fender Strat, and a Gibson renassaince SG and it by far outplays the Fender and matches the SG. It is also perfect for sitting down on a stool and playing. The only setbacks are that it is slightly heavy but only due to its size and it is awkward to hold on stage at first but after you get the James Hetfeild stance down it's great. The tuners are a little sensitive but it holds great tune even when you are treating it like a rubber band!!!! Order this one and you will Rock and your pocket book will thank you.

this is so not worth it, the floyd rose can't stay in tune for 15 minutes when i dont use the tremolo... i brought mine to a local music store and the owner said it was of poor quality if you want an epiphone goth get the hardtail, because this thing is not worth it... maybe i got one withr a defect, and they are better quality but i thought i would express how i feel about this guitar and how it has put me off the whole tremolo idea

THIS THING OWNS

By THRASHER717

from Niles IL

this guitar rocks hard. i am a HUGE metallica fan and there was no doubt that was going to buy an explorer or a v. i went to guitar center, played this thing and just fell in love with it. i have not got bored of this beast and i dont think i will. the stock pickups were true gibson tone, but i wanted the metallica tone so i put two EMG-81 active humbuckers in it and now it is even better, i played the stock gibson explorer and then the epi and the only difference I could feel was that my hand could smoothly slide down the neck of this guitar and not stick to it due to its flat finish. I love this thing and I highly recommend it to anybody.

Perfect guitar for death metal and nice sweet clean solos. Also for almost anything else. A must have.

Very solid guitar.

By tnek46

This guitar is great for rockin' hard. I play lead guitar in my band and it's great. If you're looking for a great guitar at a good price, this is it. My only problem is that the tuners aren't the best... but stick some new Grovers on there and it'll be fine.

Realistically

By Phillip Devereaux

I must say, many people seem to rag on this guitar, but what they need to realize is this is an amazing guitar for the money. You're getting a solid mahogany guitar (body and neck) with a set neck and a floyd. now the floyd is licensed, which means it isn't the best, but if you know what you are doing you can make it almost perfect. If it really bugs you, go to a music store and buy an original floyd. The guitar already has the routing. you barely have to do any work to put it in. the pickups are pretty good but I like EMGs so I'll change them.Remember, with a little know how and a little time you can make any guitar top notch. don't "fret" over little problems. fix them.

A Gibson look-a-like with a trem, finally!

By Phil the explorer guy

from Bedfordshire

This guitar is excellent, good action, fast neck. Sounds great clean for an almost bluesy sound and has KILLER sound distorted, heavier than a Sumo match! The black finish looks durable, and seems quite likely to last a lifetime. The only thing I would change is the strings. I would have said the pickups - but they are shockingly good on a guitar of this price. I may stick EMG's on this at a later date, but that really wouldn't be essential as it's already a great guitar. This is a well priced guitar, and I'm buying one!

present day incarnation of a legend

By The Lifer

from Eufaula, Al

First of all, this looks are killer, the black hardware looks awesome, the neck has great action, it neither tilts to one side to another stays perfectly balanced. The pickups aren't the best, but they're good for the price i got it for. the first explorer with a tremolo, sounds sick if you want to do solos just hookup a death metal distortion and expect to hear a lot of neighbor complaints. If your barely started to get into guitar this is a must. IF you buy a starter package it won't last half as long as this. So it's better to save some change and get this one.

Hell yeah!

By Ingrown_Fingernail

I just got it in the mail 15 minutes ago. This thing is a beast! I wasn't too sure about the pickups when I ordered it, but these things are superb for stock pickups. That's enough typing for now, I'm gonna go play it some more!
