Modeled after the famous SG, but with a new dark look.

This back in black menace definitely sends a message even before you start playing it. The Epiphone Goth G-400 Electric Guitar is a twisted version of the Gibson '62 SG with solid mahogany body and slim-tapered set mahogany neck. The rosewood fingerboard has a VII inlay at the 12th fret and the headstock is highlighted with a Celtic cross. The deep SG styled double-cutaways let you reach all 22 frets with ease. Separate volume and tone controls for each of the open-coil high-output Alnico V humbuckers give you complete control of your sound. An innovative integrated killswitch/tone pot lets you create a sonic strobe effect. The Goth G-400 is bathed in a satin black finish and sports black-chrome hardware. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and LockTone stopbar tailpiece add more sustain and make string changing easier. Limited lifetime warranty.

I have a G-400, and I've liked every G-400 that I've picked up. So I'm sure this one is the same as the rest, only with a few different cosmetics. I just wanted to comment on the ad for the guitar. You say there's a VII (7) at the 12th fret. Then you say that it has pearloid trapezoid inlays. This makes me wonder if you have any clue about what you're selling. Are these really Alnico V pickups? If you can't tell pearloid trapezoid inlays from no inlays at all, and you can't tell 12 from 7, then I begin to doubt if you know the rest of the specs.

my friend has had this guitar for like 2 years and from what i can see its pretty good...good guitar for a beginner Gitarist but the frets are too small, good for some one that dont have very big hands, little hard for me to play but its sounds great! stays in tune for a petty long time, i recommend you get this if your into Picking Up A guitar And Learning.

    nice tone for the price

Comments about Epiphone Goth G-400 Electric Guitar:

I picked up a used one in a pawn shop a couple years ago. It's a 2004. Not quite the same as the newer one, but the tone is great(think Robbie Kreiger). The neck on mine is like the gibson '50's profile, But after I dressed the frets and lowered the action, it plays great. It's not a gibson, but for the price,I'd say it's close enough. I'm not into the whole gothic thing, But if you are, go for it. you won't be disappointed.

    Excellent value!!!

    By Grandpa Munster

Comments about Epiphone Goth G-400 Electric Guitar:

This is the second Epiphone that I have owned over the years and I have to say that I have been pleased by the quality and value of both. The Goth G-400 has a fast neck and low action, the only buzz I've found was low E string 19-20th fret, but easily remedied at the bridge. Keeps a tune very well. Fit and finish are excellent at this price and the flat black finish with black hardware just looks cool. My only complaint is that the stock pickups are a bit muddy; no big deal when cranking out heavily distorted Sabbath type riffs. However, I'm impressed enough with this guitar that spending money to upgrade the pickups is not an issue. Overall, an excellent value and well executed effort by Epiphone. If you can't afford a Gibson, this will fill in nicely.

This axe rocks! Much cheaper than the Tony Iommi edition, but same killer looks. If you like playing dark metal, this is the guitar for you

    Awesome Guitar!!!!

    By purplemakesperfect

Comments about Epiphone Goth G-400 Electric Guitar:

My dad bought this guitar preowned and then gave it to me for my birthday, and it is amazing!!! comments from some of my friends got me a little leery on epi's, but rest assured this guitar will not disappoint. the tone of this thing rivals high quality gibsons, at a fraction of the price. mine has a bunged-up fret at 13, but thats any easy fix, and is a flaw of the previous owner, and not the build. the look is also awesome, its drawn raves from my friends. get this guitar, it won't disappoint.

    epiphone goth g400 SG

Comments about Epiphone Goth G-400 Electric Guitar:

Except for loose nuts on the tuners and pots, the guitar arrived in excellent condition. Fretwork, build, and overall qaulity is excellent. No truss rod adjustment was needed. Lowered action for personal preferance and adjusted pups pole peices and overall height which resulted in excellent crunchy very articulate voice with very good drive. I also veryh much like the seperate vol and tone for each pup as this gives greater tweakability then most guitars out there. I did replace the stock knobs with black speedknobs and added glow in dark fretboard markers. Very happy with my new Sg guitar. Its a pro grade instrument imo.

Can't get any better than this

Comments about Epiphone Goth G-400 Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar at a local guitar shop in town today. I plugged it into a Line 6 Spider IV and shredded away. It was perfect. It sounds great in Drop D and Standard. I'm used to playing my Japanese Strat, and this guitar blew it out of the water. For the price it doesn't get any better than this.

Comments about Epiphone Goth G-400 Electric Guitar:

i've had my eye on this guitar since it came out have have never seen one at a local shop untill today. despite the fact it was used it still played great. action was nice and low but no fret buzz at all. pickups are decent, but would upgrade to some duncans personally. it feels better than any other sg i've ever played. sounds better, too. i'm definitely gettin one of these!!

    Great SG

    By SGplayer7467

Comments about Epiphone Goth G-400 Electric Guitar:

For the price you can't go wrong. I loved this thing right out of the box! It has a great look and a great feel to it. The neck is a bit thinner which I really like. The Grover tuners are sure to keep you in tune. The guitar itself is also super light. I found the pick ups to be a bit plain for my tastes so I replaced them with some EMG's and now this thing really jams. For the price, you just can't go wrong!
