Bought the cherry burst LP-100 4+ years ago, and it was my first electric. The frets were rough, with some buzzing, and I never liked the tone with the stock Epi PUs. About a year ago I started some mods for both looks and tone. Got rid of the creme pick guard and swapped the creme accents for black. Swapped out the muddy stock PUs for a set of GFS Vintage 59s (very cheap and worth the investment) and it now sounds awesome. Swapped the LP-100 truss cover for a stylish Epiphone "E" cover, not because I'm hiding it being an LP-100 (will tell anyone who asks about it), but because I hot-rodded it. Had a tech do the work, along with a fret dressing, and it now feels as good as it sounds. If you buy this for a kid/beginner and invest a little, he or she could play this for years. Really a very decent guitar for the money and fun to mod/personalize.

The best thing about this guitar is the reputation of an lp. Despite the dot inlays on the neck, and the epiphone headstock, this guitar looks just as sweet as a classic paul. The price though, tells you clearly that it isn't.The mojor short comings on this guitar are it's pickups, and it's hardware. The pickups aren't great. The tone they produce is kind of thin without any effects on it. Playing this guitar clean is dissappointing, and no where near the sweetness of a gibson of any price range. This is easily fixed with the installation of gibson pickups ( 490r and 498t alnico like in the supreme lp model or '57 classics rec.) though that will set you back a bit.A much quicker and also highly beneficial fix would be to add new tuners. Grovers are industry standard and are also used on gibsons. The standard tuners on this guitar fall short of keeping intonation. On mine, the strings were out of tune just about as soon as I put it down. easy fix. Overall, this is a good guitar for the money, especially for a begginner who won't require more and may not notice the difference. And when the guitar's initial tone is outgrown, it's a much smaller amount of money to upgrade this guitar than it would be to buy a newer and better one.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric Guitar:

This is my favorite guitar by far. Honestly, Epis have always been one of my favorite and this one screams with a full but somewhat mellow tone. The humbuckers on this one sound great at 1 as well as at 10. If this guitar was to disappear I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for 25 years. I currently own several top of the line guitars. I play metal, punk and classic rock. This guitar was purchased by me for someone else as a starter guitar. It was used for a bit, then returned to me. I had it just sitting on the rack with the rest and basically ignored it. After a while I took pity on the Epiphone and took to my "set up guy" who gave a fret dressing and set up with 46-10 stings. String height was set to 2.5/64 and intonation was set. (This is SUPER LOW)
The guitar plays like a dream. It is almost embarrassing to say it is the most fun guitar I have. It does not have the deep tone of my Gibson 60's Tribute with Burst Buckers. The ceramic pickups are hot and crisp. It would be fair to compare the tone to a modern Ibanez or LTD. It shines on High Gain settings on the ENGL Raider amps. Does an ok job clean, but not these pickups are not really warm, so the sound is a bit thin. This guitar exceeds the expectation. I would not change the pickups.

I was skeptical of the bolt on neck, but when compared to my Ibanez 7620, Schecter PT and Bartell Black Widow, the sustain is comparable. Will not match the sustain of the Gibson, but then it was 1/4 the price! The neck is stable and the guitar seems very solid. Light weight, it works for long rehearsals.
The tuners are the only weak link but that is a cheap fix anyone can do themselves. I myself have yet to change them out, as they do hold well enough.

Electronics, pots, switches and jacks all seem solid. I have clocked many hours on them with no issue.

The best part of the guitar is I can play it out at the clubs and not worry about it being targeted by thieves.

      Hope this helps..

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar used a few years ago, my first electric guitar. For what I bought it for, it was a great guitar all around. It's got a pretty solid tone. I did experience a little fret buzz, but not enough to ruin the playability of the guitar. Overall a great guitar for a beginner or someone looking for an inexpensive guitar that still maintains quality fundamentals.

I have had this guitar for almost four years. It's my "Go To" guitar off my multi guitar rack. Awesome guitar in that price range and likely a better value for instruments at higher price points.

First I'd like to say that I'm a newborn on the guitar scene so I don't know about "feel", "tone", "pickup" etc...
I bought the guitar because I've read that it's a great guitar for a beginner and I like the Les Paul. It's beautiful, was packaged very well, and arrived when the seller said it would. I love it and it's fun to play. If your considering a guitar I would recommend it.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is great for the buying price. I got it when it was around 250, It's seen its share of drops, and falls, and it has dings and scratches, but I wouldn't trade this guitar for just anything. The pickups are starting to go on me, and the pots need cleaning, and everything. That just happens sometimes.

My review is coming from my wife who I bought this for, she has been playing for many years, did not want to dish out on a Gibson Les Paul and this guitar is simply brilliant as a step into the Les Paul sound and feel.
