OVERVIEW

A fantastic finish with great humbucking pickups.

Out of all of Les Paul's many achievements; inventor, guitarist, and hit recording artist, Les is most beloved among musicians for inspiring the Les Paul Standard, one of the most sought-after guitars in the world. And now, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Red Royale gives the legend a fresh start with Epiphone Alnico Classic humbucker (neck) and Epiphone Alnico Classic Plus humbucker pickups, a maple veneer top, and beautiful Red Pearl finish.

The striking Red Pearl finish is reminiscent of the first wave of custom colors made by Epiphone in the 1960s and has a warm, deep, scarlet tone that' set off by Epiphone' distinctive Royale Collection Silver Sparkle binding. Each Red Royale Collection instrument features all of the modern, top-shelf pickups and hardware you™ve come to expect from Epiphone, and of course, a lifetime guarantee. In other words, the Royale Treatment! And no Royale guitar collection would be complete without the king of electric guitars, the Les Paul Standard.

Epiphone's history with legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul dates back to the early 1940s when Les, working nights at the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City, created one of the first solid body electric guitars, better known as "The Log." Over the next 15 years, Les continued to develop his dream guitar that would "sustain for days" and in the late '50s, the historic Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan produced the "sunburst" Les Paul Standard and its new pickup, the "PAF" humbucker.

Players like Joe Bonamassa, Slash, Ace Frehley, Zakk Wylde, Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson and countless others get their signature sound from a "sunburst" Les Paul and now Epiphone gives you a chance to experience that one-of-a-kind tone at an affordable price with the Les Paul PRO. The Les Paul Standard PRO features Epiphone Alnico Classic (neck) and Epiphone Alnico Classic Plus (bridge) pickups and all the modern appointments that players expect from Epiphone.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Red Royale Electric Guitar:

I was extremely surprised on the quality of this product. As a musician that loves to play out in public, sound quality is everything and this guitar definitely delivers. the pickups are very dynamic, you can make them scream as well as making them sing you a soft love song. It does have a metallic finish to it, its hard to tell by the pictures. Bottom line is it is now my favorite guitar in my collection! (aside from my Gibson)

Great guitar for the money!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Red Royale Electric Guitar:

Plays and sounds great- needs a bit of setup but all new instruments do. I don't care for the silver sparkle binding- it bothers me more than I thought it would, but I am pretty traditional when it comes to guitars. I bought it as a Stupid Deal of the Day, so for the price I paid it's pretty much a steal for a Les Paul. To me, the quality of instruments coming out of the Pac Rim is good enough that it doesn't make sense to spend thousands for a guitar any more- as much as I'd love to have a "real" Gibson Les Paul.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Red Royale Electric Guitar:

This guitar looks and sounds incredible. When I took it out of the box, the shiny red with the sparkle binding blew me away, great craftsmanship and looks almost obnoxiously flashy, very rock n roll and cool.

Out of the box it sounded pretty lousy - the strings were old, the neck needed truss rod adjustment, bridge adjustment, and pick up height adjustment. Basically the works. So I took it to my local music shop and it came back sounding like a dream. I've been playing through my Blues DeVille 410 and get the clean, get the crunchy, get that beautiful deep soul sound that I bought it for.

This guitar is totally delivering for me. Love it.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Red Royale Electric Guitar:

Simple review here. I had many Epiphone Les Pauls thru the years and always thought they were ok, not great but good players. It's been 10 years since I bought a new one. i got to say this Standard Les Paul seems lighter in weight, but not lighter on sound.Nice finish, great frets. the pickups are Alnico so don't expect chugga-chugga drop tuned EMG pickups tone. But I play thru a Podfarm UX-2 interface and Guitar Rig 5 and can produce almost whatever tones I want. I don't use a amp, just direct record into my laptop.I think it's as good as my 2001 Epiphone Les Paul Standard even though this new one is made in China.
